    It looks like you are using a 2X6 to glue the butt joints. Is that correct?

    On a kayak a guess it's ok. But on some other boat a scarf joint is racommanded

      dont underestimate the structural strenght of fiberglass. The joint is plenty strong and if you take into account that the will be thwarts and bulkheads even, you dont have to worry about scarfing

    The engineering on this is idiotic. Why would you align the butt joints on the adjoining panels in the middle of the boat. Structurally it would be much more durable to offset the seam even just 6 inches would be better than nothing

      Actually, the butt tape seams shown are much stronger than the plywood itself so this becomes the strongest section of the hull.
