"That's the existing tunnel section from E. 99th to E. 105th Sts." So theoretically it really shouldn't take as long to start and finish construction on phase 2....but we know how these things go....unfortunately.
when they finally get to Houston St. on the south end wouldn't it be cheaper to go from Houston St to connect onto the Nassau St line into the Bowery station, where it can still be extended into Brooklyn/ Dekalb Ave. On the north end across 125th St all the way to Broadway, and into the Bronx only to 149th/3rd Ave...are these ideas options possible and have they been considered? The Nassau line is basically dormant with lots of possibilities for growth and skip the Hanover Square segment altogether, is this possible?
No it is not the tunnel they are building uses deep boar technology. It is much deeper (about 4 floors deeper) then the Nassau Street line. They would have to order a whole new machine to do it.
Craig F. Thompson i was told they changed their minds on grand street no cross platform transfer will be under b and d trains cause other option will build it and disrupt chinatown
Hanover Square is not only an areas I served by subway service, but it is also a high employment area in all of Lower Manhattan and would be better beneficial for the entire city. The Nassau Street option would do nothing to grab potential riders away from the Lexington Avenue Line, and the connection to the Montague Street Tunnel would throttle capacity for both lines.
How far north of 96th is train starting from? Looks like train starts in older tunnel from about 105th St in the 1970s part of this. New construction seen maybe around 99th south to station. So, if true, they only need to build 1/3 more of what they already did to reach 125th St. Hope that happens in next 5 years, but happy to see this finally happening. 77 years after demolishing 2nd Av El that once passed over this street.
Thanks for the ride on the SAS. I hate to be negative about any NYC Subway expansion, but the station design starting with South Ferry and unfortunately continuing onto this long dreamed about line is at best horrible. Even the 50s and 60s platform extensions have more "character." Not that the "even though it's 1989 but we'll keep the mid 70's heavily into glazed orange tile" that looked dated and heavy for the 63rd St tunnel. The current station decor makes me want to shake the crap out of the person who designed it while asking him/her "WTF were you thinking?!! When compared to plain, white toilet paper restrooj, the TP is better designed/decorated than the newest NYCTA station!!!!!!
Considering they know exactly which people will have been on the test train, it wouldn't be much of a stretch for them to find the culprit if they wanted to so having the sound off doesn't really protect anyone
6:55
Shell for phase 3
6:55 to the left you can see where the T Train will go sometime in the future
Kewl
But it comes in in a "Y", shouldn't it come in in a "T"?
bad
It will :)
tryithere What?
That's the existing tunnel section from E. 99th to E. 105th Sts. that was built in the 70s at the start of the clip.
8avexp Cool! And they do know how to make it look brand new.
8avexp took almost 40 years but a train is finally using it

Nice video I like the tunnel and the stations thanks for the view and test run of the new 2nd Av tunnel keep it up
We train operators are being qualified for the line, so we are being taken through the area with an empty train from 57th St up to 96th and back.
It's a very quiet train.

I would have like to hear how the noise reducing tracks really did their job or did they?

They are bringing a t train
no not till phase 3 is done
for now just the Q
Abba Traore in like 20-30 years lol
Shhhh, it's on the QT.
dope is there no sound?
considering this isn't even supposed to be out in public, having sound could endanger the jobs of the train crew and whoever recorded this.
Facts

Considering this is still up online, I highly doubt they've nailed down the person responsible.
Verticall and "stabilisation" (((
I miss the old lex/63rd station the new one is boring looking
