- GISBURN FOREST MTB TRAIL CENTER 🌲 A XC Riders REVIEW. #GISBURNFOREST #MTBLancashire #mtbyorkshire #mtbyorkshiredales
Gisburn Forest MTB trails lie in the Forest of Bowland, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so you're guaranteed some amazing scenery as you enjoy the trails.
This MTB Lancashire trail is an easy blue route and slightly harder and longer red XC route, neither of which will leave you feeling disappointed. Both start from the Gisburn Forest Mtb Hub car park, where you'll also find a cafe and skills loop.
Further into the forest there are two DH mtb trails with berms, jumps and drop-offs. If you fancy challenging yourself, why not take on the Forestry Commission's Super 6 challenge? This involves riding the six most northerly English trail centres - Kielder, Chopwell, Whinlatter, Hamsterley, Griezdale and Gisburn.
THE GISBURN MTB TRAILS:
BOTTOM’S BECK (9.5KM, BLUE)
This is a nice short and easy ride that’s suitable for novices. The trail has a good combination of forest road and singletrack as it follows an old railway line. That doesn’t mean it’s straight though - you’ll twist and turn through Park Wood before finishing back in the car park with a big grin on your face.
THE 8 (18KM, RED)
The 8 is a really fun trail loop that takes in a wide variety of terrain, from dark, twisting woodlands, to wide open moorland. The landmark point of the ride is Whelpstone Crag, and there are great technical rock features to ride around there as well as some stunning views. It’s worth trying the optional black line of Hully Gully too, which is a unique descent with big wallride berms.
BIKE PARK (0.5KM, ORANGE)
Hope Line and Leap of Faith are twisty DH trails that are under continuous development and maintenance by trail volunteers. Both trails are in the heart of the forest, about 3km from Gisburn Forest mtb Hub.

Have you ridden at Gisburn? Which do you prefer the BLUE or RED? and is it better than Dalby? Leave a comment below, and thumbs up above.
Ridden Dalby, never Giz. I didn't find Dalby anything extraordinary, as I'm more of a Tech, and gnar rider. Beautiful place though!
So, The 8 (the red) is a good track and well worth the trip. For those who think it’s not tech enough, these better riders need to go faster through the woods in the first third and for those who think the flow isn’t exciting, are they really able to float and jump through the rocky sections? It’s not better than Dalby. Dalby’s longer, in part due to the fire road sections. I prefer Dalby because of the work out, but mainly because of the ‘Flow’ there. As at Gisburn, it’s well worth a visit and for those who don’t think it’s tough enough try getting your time under 1:50 at Dalby… Even on an ebike at Dalby, hitting that time starts feeling a bit gnarly here and there at those speeds, especially if you’re including the black sections, especially if your not making up that time on the fire roads 🤣
@@SingletrackScene agree Dalby never floated my boat either might give it another go. Was too rocky and no good downhill always start stop for me.
@@Coolcmsc I did mention in the video that I probably won't come back but that's not quite true I do plan on trying the blue trail and seeing what that's like
Dalby is just a really long slog with nothing particularly exciting on it apart from a couple of nice flow sections. Gisburn is great and the Hully Gully :)
brilliant review and produced video. Thanks for sharing
Thanks Matt some will love Gisburn some won't. Think marmite just wish it had a good downhill section.
Just got back from a cracking trip to Afan Forest. Beautiful place, with plenty of XC, Tech, and foresty goodness!... put it on your list!
Thanks for the Vid!
That's one longgggg drive for me.. Ya record any ad?
@@BOTG_Adventures I can provide you with a cheap B+B, and guiding with our community partners.. makes a cracking weekend, and an awesome local pub for the evening.
I'm putting out the only quality trail I filmed tonight. - gopro failed, and has been sent away today.
Gnarly full send in the red, radical bro🤟
Great video Andy I need to get more involved with the comments and likes 👍🏻
It's all good mate it's quiet last few months. People. Out riding instead of watch yt.. I hope ;)
I have shared the channel to fellow mtb riders. It’s a great channel and I use it as a safe place to watch rather than mainstream tv that I no longer watch for obvious reasons given the current circumstances. Your channel definitely reminds us all that awesome humans do exist still. It’s great to see your rides awesome job buddy 👊🏻
That Board Walk section at about 10:08 is worth it. There is a way up the way you went first - tech - and the easier way on the ramp on the right leads to a great run through to some easy board walk that’s good for getting your confidence on that and it has some rocky bit after which you joined up with when you avoided the section. Harder on such a hot day tho’ 😊
It’s really easy to find like every thing in gizzy
Seems like Gnarly worked its way into your vocabulary... Off to Gisburn on Sunday, gonna be wet!
Get a onsie ;)
Great video again Boots. As one of the volunteers who build and maintain the trails I agree the signage could be better. Also we sure don’t discourage e-bikes but I’ve noticed they do tend to stray off the trails as they have the power to “go off piste”. Perhaps next time you go to a trail centre without somebody who knows the route download a map? Anyway keep on with the vids and less waffle more riding! 🤘
Thanks for the info!
Well it looked a cracking day, proper scorcher! Have to say it looks like a trail centre I'm going to avoid unless I'm holidaying down the road..... And then I might still give it a miss 🤣
What makes you think you will avoid it?
@@BOTG_Adventures The fact that it looks a really dull trail. 🤣
Good for a blast
@@BOTG_Adventures oh yes, like all trail centres they have some fun but the real question is... Is it worth travelling just for the trail?
Nice vid but probably won't do this myself... The boss says no chance.... We both prefer a flowing trail too.
Keep doing XC vids I think more people see themselves doing these once you get to a certain age without the pressure of trail centers where people feel they may be under a bit of pressure from other riders. Insights are good for both professional and amateur alike and sometimes we just need reminding of the basics like water rest and snacks.... Its easy to forget when concentrating on riding.
Bullocks to that guy who said Electric mountain bikes should not be on here, what a Tossa
Done all Of the trails on my ht . Some on a dh n other's on my Kona stuff lol
Hi Andy few things wrong with video Gizzy so easy to follow the bit where you went in home baked dh line paste was easy to follow. And when you hit the quarry instead of left go right follow the trail up to the boardwalk it’s about 10.50 miles when you miss out bottoms as you want to do the hope and last bit near the car park yes I agree it but yes I love going out and doing xc as it all about hydration and eating they say 60g of food and 250ml hydration with electrolytes in every hour gels as well
What gloves are you wearing? Thanks

What was the body armour you were wearing?
Racer Motion 2.
Boots on the Ground UK Thnx👍 keep up the great content and welcome good advice!
Regarding adverse ebike comment you had... I'm not sure if I've got right end of stick 🤔but did he maybe think electric bike full fat throttle type which you cant peddle..ps that looked a grueler..... well done...
Yes maybe, wondered if he thought it was a Suron. I wouldnt confront or ask why if his kids are there, it just annoyed me we all get labelled, when some of us are very conscientious of the environment, I even pick up others rubbish on the moors, such as crisp packets and water bottles, its so disappointing when people leave a mess.
@@BOTG_Adventures agree totally...👍
Hi buddy are those trousers waterproof?
Yes.
wow you really made a pigs ear of that trail 🤣🤣🤣
Did I indeed.
Can’t believe someone challenged you on riding the e-bike Andy 👎
