    The Honda 919/Hornet 900 is a pure bike with a strong racing pedigree. The Honda Fireblade is similar to what the LS1 did to the automotive world.
    The Fireblade changed everything just like the LS1 did. It set the standard for technology, performance, affordability, and reliability. I bought my 919 for $3200 in 2015 with 6000mi. Mine has been absolutely bulletproof. Mostly used as an urban commuter, kept on a busy street for 3 years with harsh winters, has been knocked over a dozen times, low-sided, and still runs like it's brand new. I keep it garaged now.
    It's got grunt down low too and it goes. It will pull in any gear. The engine is everything I wanted my Ninja 650r to be when I yearned for more power. The grunt isn't a violent 2-second clunk like on a Harley. It's smooth, throaty, and slingshots you into screaming insanity.
    The Honda 919 is an awesome bike and has earned my respect. It's on my bucket list to pick up a second one when the opportunity comes up.

    Wow! I can’t believe you just recently posted this! I’ve owned my 2006 for about 10 years now. Didn’t ride it much for the last 3 or 4 years and just cleaned it all up and started riding again. Man I love that bike. I have never had any desire for any other bike sense I got this one and I don’t believe I ever will. I’ve done quite a few mods to it and it makes me very happy. Thanks for the video.

    Very special review indeed! The best I've seen up to now!
    The menotronic and clear voice in contrast with the frenetic images worked brilliantly, the thoughts and genuine feelings you said the bike gives you were precise and deep, without any annoying music in the background as always, or falling in never ending specs details! You should teach people how to make a proper review, man! Seriously!!

    I bought mine yesterday.. (2003 model) 51 years of riding /owning many bikes, and this is a sweetly. I did a four hour ride today with no numb bum. I was squirting between a stately 100kph to 180 Kph, returning 50 mpg. That surprised me as the spec sheets claimed 37 mph.
    I also have a 2012 Triumph 1200 Tiger Explorer. The Tiger gives good protection in the wet and cold, but the Hornet is lighter to get out of the shed, and is heaps of fun. Motorcycle is my first and only choice of travel, I gave up driving cars many years ago.

    Great review and love the narration. I rode my friend's Hornet 900 years ago and liked it a lot! I told my friend I must buy it from him when he decides to sell, but I live in a different contry for most of the year so sadly she's been sold elsewhere. I still regret I didn't check on him more often. This year I puchased new CB650R and that bike is awesome too and reminds me this Hornet a lot, they have many things in common (+ ABS on CB650R) ... although for a similar bike I had to pay 5 times more (almost 13k USD in Vietnam).

    I have a 600 and hoped I had a 900.
    Reliable, comfortable, fast enough when you need it.
    I drive my 600 hornet daily,12 month/year (I can't afford a van and can't stand traffics on shity British roads. And I drove in 3 continents....)
    That bike never let me down.
    My only, and only wish would be a 900 with frond screen, heated grips and wind deflectors.🙏
    Otherwise...yeap it is not a sports bike. Maybe a tourer if you want her to be. She'll take it.

    I did the 17/44 520 chain upgrade and I didn't like the gearing. I know it's only a small change, but I rode 14,000 miles in one season on my 919 and I miss the stock gearing. The headlight sucks, an nice LED is a great upgrade and I need it because I do a lot of night riding. I don't really agree on the styling, I think it's a classic hoodlum bike, it's a no frills, machine that looks like it's ready to brawl if needed. My understanding about the shock is that it's not just the older ones, it's all of them. Sadly, it's a pricey upgrade, but one of the very few that you need. The PCIII is a popular upgrade too.

    Your review is quite realistic/correct/genuine - I own 2 of the CB900F-5s top speed over 150mph given the space. You are correct, this bike should have been more popular, but then most people don't have taste - we do.
    HOWEVER - Your filtering sucks! You give motorcyclists a bad name because you think you're more important - crossing SOLID DOUBLE YELLOWS TOO!!!! That SOLID THICK WHITE LINE (at junctions) == STOP AND STAY BEHIND SOLID THICK (or thin) WHITE LINE, NOT IN FRONT!
    Safe trails. See you riding on The Mountain Course? (And, don't even think about crossing any solid white line... even when one way system!)

      I get it on my bike and have heard it referred to as "stink" on forums. I assumed it was from the exhaust particles getting suspended in the low-pressure area behind the rider, giving them time to absorb into their clothing. I've heard people remedy it by swapping cans(longer seems better) or the side-mounted exhaust from the CBR919rr.

    Great video brotha! I l have been researching these bikes for the last couple months and think I’m finally gonna buy one. I’m a little green when it comes to motorcycles. I bought an 84 nighthawk back in January and the motor gave out a couple months ago. Anyway, I live and am from the city myself and would love to pick your brain a bit about what to look for when buying one.

      Go see Joe at Cycle Terminal and get the HM090 (I think) plug and then you can figure the +ve and -ve when the ignition is on/off - that AUX plug is for the alarm. Reply to this and Ill go look at the plug and let you know pin out.

    I have a 07 model the only thing I don't like about this bike is an extreme wind noise issue I'm trying to resolve it's got a screen the same as yours,screen on or off not a lot of difference I also have a triumph street triple & no wind noise issue with that.

    How would you say the 919 is for beginners? How is the turn radius? Is it easy to use in lower speed and maneuver? Im thinking of buying one. Great video!

    • @10mm
      @10mm  4 года назад +3

      It's probably better as a second bike. There's a lot of power on tap and no electronic aids. Turn radius and low speed handling are mostly up to the rider, but this is not a lightweight bike.

    • @Evolution_Kills
      @Evolution_Kills 3 года назад

      Yeah, probably a bad idea for a first bike. My 919 was bike number 6, with my first road bike being my dad's Honda XR250L street legal dual sport, and the next bike after that (and the first I owned myself) being an old Honda CB700SC Nighthawk. Old CB750's are some of the best deals in motorcycles, as you can usually get one that is inspected and works for about a grand. If you're not a hooligan with the throttle, they are very manageable and easy to ride mid-sized bikes, that won't bike you nearly as fast as a 600cc sportbike or a nearly liter class streetfighter.

    Hello Brother, got my 04 919 about 7 months ago. Great bike. Few questions, do you have a ticking noise at idle? And at idle is the RPMs seem jumpy? Like the rpm needle jumps up-and-down

    • @10mm
      @10mm  4 года назад

      That's how I would describe mine. Warbles at idle. How bad is the ticking? What's the mileage? May be due for valve adjustment.

    • @hamishmctavish2977
