    I respect u for doing this! These are the types I’m more interested in!
    I would love more videos about this synth. By my prediction it’s gonna be the most interesting non Ai synth for a long while.
    And music is about telling our story not making a commercial so Ai won’t take over any time soon. As Ai makes a themes not personalised stories. Imperfections in beats tell stories.

    When you started crafting the duduk sound and decided to split the noisy upper harmonics from the steady lower ones, I immediately thought back to one of your vital psytrance tutorials where you split out the lower partials of a saw wave to be able to distort and effect each of them. I feel like you’re really onto something with this general technique and I just want to thank you for introducing me to the concept. Your content is gold, man. Thank you!!

    you're so good at getting great, almost haunting (in a good non-scare way), types of acoustic instrument sounds. You were also able to get great timbres, and character from settings, during your Modus video. Your design 'know-how' is fantastic! Thanks for the inspiration to keep working towards the sound i want, since you've showed me it's possible.

    Although you're trying to synthesize something that resembles an acoustic instrument doesn't mean you're doing physical modelling. This is in essence sampling and additive synthesis. Physical modelling is making mathematical models of the physical behavior of acoustic instruments in order to generate sounds that (hopefully) resemble their acoustic counterparts.

    • @DashGlitch
      @DashGlitch  Месяц назад +1

      yes, also the mathematical models are often combinations of other methods, like tuned delays for karplus strong, resonant filters for modal synthesis and FM for metallic stuff. Generating the partials as you need is also modelling the physical behaviour, because you're also crafting where the resonant tones are based on the physical characteristics etc. It's just a different approach.

    PS I'm in a metal band and we want to experiment with mixing up metal with EDM. So many filthy DnB drops out there that yearn for a scream. I'm getting into EDM myself, but I'm definitely not experienced. If you think such a combo would work as well, and you like our vibes at Handpicked Heathens, let me know if you'd want to consider a collaboration track.

    Hey Dash, not a question related to Zebralette but I’m curious how often you still use your modular rig? I got into eurorack because I wanted something more “tangible” and “raw” than purely software … and while I don’t regret it and I love my rack, using hardware modules has ironically led me to realize just how good soft synths like zebra/zebralette, phase plant, and vital really are. Just curious if your experience has been similar.

    • @DashGlitch
      @DashGlitch  3 месяца назад +1

      Yes but I don't try to compare them, rather use them as individual tools. I like to make sounds on the modular with a more creative mindset, then compile them in the software with resynthesis/granular etc in a more goal-oriented session

    On macoOS I've tried to migrate some of my own Serum wavetables (actually just single cycles) to Zebralette by dragging them over the osc section but it does not give me any kind of import option.

    • @jarkkojs
      @jarkkojs 3 месяца назад +1

      Right, wav import is an experimental feature: "Importing .WAV files also works, but due to the wide variety of possible .WAV files (from single
      waveforms to complete 10-minute tracks), it is a hit-and-miss affair." uhe-dl.b-cdn.net/betas/public/zebralette3/Zebralette-3-user-guide-WIP-20240304.pdf

    • @jarkkojs
      @jarkkojs 3 месяца назад +1

      Interestingly tho: "Single cycle files will be recognized as such and will only replace the currently selected Curve, while multi-cycle samples
      will replace the entire Curve Set." I've thrown bunch of exactly single cycle waves but no success to this day 🤷

    • @DashGlitch
      @DashGlitch  3 месяца назад +1

      I've had success using mono 24bit .wav files which are anywhere from a single cycle to a couple of seconds, anything stereo or longer tends to crash. I have been using Phase Plant or audacity rather than Serum because I don't know if you know this, but Serum .wav are not exactly wave files, they have a bit of funky header data in there which can throw other software off (you can actually open the wav in a hex editor and see it/edit it). I hope that helps!

    • @jarkkojs
      @jarkkojs 3 месяца назад

      @@DashGlitch OK thanks for the tip! I do have Phase Plant so definitely giving it a shot. That said, the drawing capabilities are so good in Zebralette 3 that I've been mostly been able just draw almost equivalent wave :-) Best wave editor I've used so far...
