    Sound design had always been a dark art, where synths have been impossible to get your head around, or stuff has been hidden deep in folders. Viral is the first synth that makes me feel confident about designing the kind of sounds I want, mainly retro electronic stuff. I love it. Great video

    The more I see of Vital, the more impressed I become. This is an extremely useful and creative tutorial - thanks so much. The great thing about acoustic modelling synths is that you get the natural organic sound, but you also get a super-high degree of controllability that's impossible with samples. Best of both worlds. Actually now that gives me an idea. I really want to know what could be done with resonant comb filters applied to real-world samples as well...

    Smearing with the time knob on delay is something I’ve always loved, basically contracting and expanding the sound with delay . The same way you used freeze on the chorus.

    Wow. Those plucks in the beginning (around 7 min.) sounded middle eastern. The panflute sounded almost real. Vital seems able to create almost any sound. I bet that back in the old days, Mike Oldfield could have done a lot with this. Instead of playing several instruments, he could have made them from scratch. Strangely, you kind of remind me of him. Thank you for sharing your expertise.

    fun fact I use when I use vital for pad thingy
    you can use "chorus" all the way up (12 I think) and add the filter the effect tab, and you can change the sounds using the thingy in the bottom of the filter. try it yourself.
    * you can do this using the default sound from the vital itself (or when you opening vital) - and I know my songs is bad in here but I'm not using vital yet, soo....

    Is there a kind of numerical cheat sheet that can be used to tune knobs to precision numbers together to get the perfect buttery sound? Because that would be dope! I just started using vital and it can be frustrating, maybe once I have the full picture, the ideas will start happening.

    Hey Dash, i play guitar and i'm experimenting with delay pedals to find useful sound on comb filter settings. For now, i've only found an use as a "sitar sound", playing oriental scales that resonates with the drone note of that moment... but nothing else that i remember. This video is super awesome! But may be you can do an experiment with pedals? It can be very interesting tooo

    • @DashGlitch
      @DashGlitch  Год назад +2

      The problem i've seen with most pedals is that the time parameter is not accurately pitch controlled via an input so its very difficult to perform. What delay pedal options have a 1v/oct standard pitch control?

    • @shoseinen
      @shoseinen Год назад

      @@DashGlitch Normally i don't think you can't control the pitch in relation of how is tuned a guitar or bass, is the tuning that brings the delay pedal itself. I don't know about CV controlled pedals, so idon't know that 1v/oct really means, sorry. Thank you for the reply :)

    • @shoseinen
      @shoseinen Год назад

      @@DashGlitch In a forum someone said that may be a "moog cluster flux" can do that, and may be is related to the karstrongplus sound?

    • @DashGlitch
      @DashGlitch  Год назад +2

      @@shoseinen for this to work, you need accurate pitch tracking for the delay
