I love that vital, along with many other important music software, is essentially free. Music production (and many other bu$ine$$...sports) seems like a constant battle of not getting ripped off.
I had NO IDEA that vital could MORPH between oscillators! In the basic oscillators I always thought it SOUNDED more like a category but I figured it was only the sine wave and maybe the table was just setup to easily draw in other basic waves and that's why it was plural? THIS BLEW MY MIND I can't believe I never figured that out!! I've only used vital for maybe 5 hours total and never read the manual like I did with the factory synths that in FL studio but I figured it'd basically be the same idea... So much more complex than it appears at first however Youve opened me up to an entire world of possibilities I never knew existed that easily!
Wow! Chris, you have outdone yourself. This is by far the best pad design tutorial I have ever seen. 'From scratch' opens the doors of sound design to beginners & then your more advanced tweaks takes it to the next level & beyond. Most illuminating & what a rich, gorgeous evolving pad you have created here. This is pure alchemy :)
NOW THIS PAD CREATION.I loved this video. I'm half way thorugh and this so very helpful. It's not to deep and gives you just enough to play around with. LOVE THIS
Hey man , you made my day! 😃 I'm an ambient/chillout fan for years. I've ever asked my self, how to get souch sounds. Man, thank you so much for your helpful tutorial. Very awsome sound - love it. 😍
@@s1gns0fl1fe Hey Chris, thank you for your response. I enjoy it, really! You've inspired me to create a 2nd ambient pad. It took me round abount an hour and the result is very awsome. Well, I tasted blood and I will definitely continue.
I just discovered your channel (last week), since then I am binch watching your videos, so much information about sound design in them. Starting to apply it now.
Wow, this is so typical and amazing! I have watched this vid a couple of moths ago. Visit it today again (saved it) and followed along. I came up with my own version and discovered how amazing this synth truly is....damn!!! Thanks S1gns, once again, for making an amazing tutorial. You are something of an ambient professor, lol! Really fun, intuitive and inspirational. Keep them comin'. 🖖
Incredible tutorial!!! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us. I really like the way you explain things, I just subscribed to your channel as well.
@@clarkflavor Matt Tytel is the developer and he is actually a veteran in this field. His previous free synth was HELM and it has its place in the industry. Of course this was long time ago. For the last couple of years he did his best to check up the music production and audio technology, and his chance was to work with great programmers and audio engineers. Of course the UI reminds as kind of Serum but I think it has more to do with marketing, as a free product, soemtimes it is a wise practice to copy the industry leader :)))
I was messing with a new "from scratch" pad yesterday and for some reason it just wasn't happening, so this morning, having slept on it, I thought I'd check out a S1gns Of L1fe video on pads, of which there are a few... now off to have a go myself :-) thanks, Chris :-D
Chris, I am a few years late and just went through this tutorial. These are the best on Vital, a VST I had largely forgotten. But I seem to have an issue. When new voices are triggered on my USB keyboard, I get a small click at every note trigger, regardless of how my envelopes are set. I don't get this with the factory presets, so it must be something I have done. Any ideas?
If your attack envelopes are set to 0.0ms, you will get a click. They need to have at least a bit of attack or else they'll do that. Start a new patch, play around with the attack time, and hopefully that solves the issue.
There are different "morphing" modes in the wavetable editor. If it's set to "none" they will just step between frames. I'd go with Spectral Blend. Hope that helps!
@@s1gns0fl1fe It is just that when I move my bar in between the key frame points it is just changing from that point to the other without morphing from a form of a wave to another, wherever I am in the Spectral bend mode or the others...
why r u dragging the harmonies instead of using keyboard and play like a human being ? it's easier to generate harmonies through the keyboard. Weird...

How vital is free is honestly mad. It’s such a powerhouse
Before he released it he mentioned on several forums Vital would have a "pricing that nobody will expect" and he was bang on. Vital is next level!
@@s1gns0fl1fe it really is! And the sound you made was phenomenal. Thanks for taking the time to share it with us
Now it's even open source!
For real, I was apprehensive to pay for a synth but vital being free really makes me want to donate.

I didn't "get" synthesizers until I started following Vital tutorials from S1gns Of L1fe. Now I use them on every track I make.
This is probably one of the best tutorials I've watched in music production period. Fantastic job!
