Because he's been rating them on talent rather than roster construction (all of Embiid's costars except Maxey have been mediocre fits at best). No amount of individual talent has ever overcome front office incompetence. The difference this year is that the top of the roster fit is now immaculate.

I love their moves and certainly have them as my number 2, but Boston with everyone back is the champ favorite for me until I see basketball played. Played in a bad Eastern Conference. For that reason, I think it's a little hard to gage Boston's greatness in terms of are they on the verge of something historic OR did they just capitalize on an easy path for 1 year

The problem with the Thunder whenever they had Paul George was not Russ. The problem was Carmelo Anthony. He had fell off as a scorer and was a defensive liability because he was older. And also because he didn’t want to come off the bench that second year the 3 of them were together in OKC.

OKC is overhyped. They only have Chet, Hartenstein and Jaylin who are taller than 6'6. They are thin in the front court. Denver, Wolves, Mavs and Lakers are all bringing a lot of size.

The difference in average age between the Thunder and Lakers is a little over a year and a half and Shai is only 4 months younger than Jason Tatum so eat your pie Brou, the Thunder are plenty old enough.
If every team is healthy and plays their best, Boston should win the title again. Keep in mind that Tatum and Brown haven't reached their peaks yet. Tatum has no mid-range game and Brown has room to be a much improved ballhandler and free throw shooter.

Celtics are still the best team to win unless proven otherwise. They still have the same team for the next 3 years or so. The team that is the most balanced offensively and defensively. This is why they crushed everyone and won.

The thing is that Boston was an elite team before KP arrived. The year they had their Conference Finals meltdown to the Heat, they started out the season as one of the hottest offenses in NBA history. That was largely the same team (they lost Grant Williams from their normal rotation). This is a team that can afford to let KP recover fully, then ease him back into play without forcing him to come back with the pressure of the team's future riding on him. That's why I don't think KP's injury really hurts Boston's chances, so long as he can recover for the playoffs.
OKC couldn't beat Dallas and the Celtics curb-stomped them. Heck, the Pacers were tougher than the Mavs.
Dallas win was fluky, OKC clearly the more talented team and they got better

Ok to reply to the second guy. When the Warriors first won their first title, it was a somewhat meteoric rise. They didn't suffer year after year. They were super young. Also, literally every single player on OKC will be that much better next year. They'll ALL improve. To whereas Ant and maaaybe a couple other Wolves will improve? C'mon.

Russ was not the problem. A lack of shooting was the problem. Presti has learned a lot since that last team, he’s recalibrated and now he only want high IQ players that came defend, shot create, can get their own bucket, pass, and hit 3’s. That’s all he wants. He wants to play 5 out with the most cerebral players he can obtain in OKC. This way they are all a threat at all times.
