I love the Cadillac Allante! I have owned 2 of them a 91 and 93. Both were great cars with an amazing warranty from new. I would not hesitate getting another one and have been looking around seeing what is being offered for sale. If the right one comes along I will try and make a deal happen that will make a third one in the very long list of car ownership.

Electrical and electronics do not like saltwater. It's amazing to me that any of the stuff works at all.

Hey randy, The milky substance you are seeing on the transmission dipstick is a result of cross-contaminated coolant and transmission fluid. More than likely, your radiator has failed which has allowed coolant to enter the transmission system. When coolant enters the transmission, it will cause failure very quickly. Hope this helps u out !

He's going to need a whole new trans cooler as well. Trans is going to need to be rebuildt. Anytime fluid gets in it bonds to the clutch fiber which will cause slipping over time.
Yes please fix it I have a strange addiction to these flood cars I love seeing them get brought back to life I have fixed five myself they are all still on the road today I now own one of them and have put over $2,500 miles on it it still runs excellent. I did fully disassemble the cars and replace everything I didn't clean the stuff and put it back together I legitimately repaired them👍
16:58 Two ideas1) check with the Auto Spa and see if they can save the carpet sections. That may save having to use the red carpet from the parts car which will be B to keep clean. 2) For the soaked and nasty underpad, something to consider would be replace it with Dynamat. Being saturated like it is, it may disintegrate if you try to clean the mold off. The Dynamat will give you the sound insulation that underpad was probably meant to control.
Hey Randy Problem with assault water flood is like 2 years from now everything will be falling apart on that car it's just not worth rebuilding my brother had a truck that was saltwater flooded 2 or 3 years after he got it it completely fell apart the frame started coming apart everything started coming apart love you show buddy

Randy, regarding the speaker/amplifiers--- I just fixed two of mine --(those door panels are a challenge!) one required that I clean the circuit board with alcohol--- look carefully for dust and debris that shorts out the signal... one in the rear was occupied by a mouse that cuts through a wire. Great very underrated cars...
Only 500 92 Allante cars sold in red. Definitely worth saving. Too bad the parts car is not the same colors

Hey Randy, I absolutely respect and appreciate your incredible perseverance! I love the Allante! I had a friend and business associate in Las Vegas in the 90s that bought one brand new, And while they were said to have issues, he absolutely loved it. It was an incredible, fun car! That being said, you really have your hands full on this one! On the edge of almost a little much! As an aside, I keep thinking about that geo tracker for $25. You did a walk-through on at IAA! Can’t stop thinking about it would absolutely make Incredible contact to see you bring that one back

Im really really happy that you decided to continue fixing the Allante. The car is cool and was obviously someone's baby. It is worth holding onto it for sure. These things will continue to go up in value.
After watching the first video on the elante I spotted one of my hometown leaving the hospital it was like brand new parked right in front of me what a great car

Your good at losing money on cars but you have grown a lot doing so do what you love to do continue to grow enjoy have fun set the cars side by side and decide thanks for making a big time effort in keeping it family friendly MUCH respect for it.
The point of owning a car is not to make money on it. If that is your angle you've lost big time.
This will look beautiful once fixed up, I wouldn't look at the whole picture, just fix a few issues per day, great video, would love to see it once done.

You know Randy now that I looked underneath the Cadillac on your video on the allante I think you should get some of that fluid film and spray down all that rust? Because there's not a lot of rust but there's a lot of little things that are starting to rust little bolts and things I saw and I would spray it down with that stuff just to keep it from rusting? alright good luck with the video it was a good one thank you.

Randy, I have to disagree with a lot of people who commented on this video. It’s your choice but if it was me, I’d cut my losses and send that car to the scrap yard. Don’t get me wrong-I love the Cadillac Allanté; it’s a gorgeous car!! And you do have the advantage of only having 41,000 or so miles on it, which is insanely low mileage for a 31 year old car (average of only about 1,322 miles a year since new, which is phenomenal-nobody puts that little mileage on their cars every year, especially not when they have a beautiful car like that). Unfortunately, however, the tremendous disadvantage is all the damage the car sustained being flooded by Hurricane Ian last year. That, plus the rarity and expense of a lot of the necessary parts for the vehicle, means that by the time you get done putting it back together, assuming you even CAN get it put back together so that it’s right, you’re going to be into that car for WAY more money than its book value. And that’s to say nothing of the money-cost of your time and effort invested in working on it and taking that time away from other vehicles that you have which also need your attention. Your time is also worth money as well. You should’nt give it away for free. You’re worth more as a person than to do that. In the end, you’re going to be massively net-money negative on the Allanté, and will incur tremendous financial loss on it. If you want my opinion, you should cut yourself loose of that money pit. Just my 2¢, for whatever you think it may be worth.

Not my dog and not my hunt but I would stay with the red Allante unless there is a major problem. Any car that can be submerged in salt water that badly then be cleaned up and driven 1,500 miles has proved that it's worth. A parts car is usually the best way out as you said after pricing out individual parts. Not Swampvette but just as interesting.
I just picked up an 88 Eldorado in Arizona. The owner had replaced the muffler with a Camaro Flowmaster unit. It fits well and sounds great. I believe your Allante has the same exhaust.
Leave the center console black. Red seats, use the Red lower door cards, seats and carpet. Serious 2 tone action.

I would say get the white allante first and then figure out if it's worth repairing! If the white allante is a nice repairable version then I would say find a 3rd car and use it as a parts car to repair the 2 allante cars and you could sell one of them to cover the cost on all 3 and keep the one you like the most as a collector's item and keep it for you4 personal collection!!
Sounds like it's time to add onto the back of the shop and have it set up with all bays with multiple 4 post lifts for cars you wanna collect!!

Randy you should have ran the transmission through the gears drive and reverse a few times to make sure you got all of the milkshake out of the transmission as well as the torque converter. One more thing you should have done the first time around. Clean out the transmission fill tube.
He's dumped like 50 gallons of fresh trans fluid through the fill tube, what's going to even be left in the tube to clean?
Randy sir, only 38k miles on her. She never was fully broken in before she got flooded. Still practically a new car. Hell if you manage to get the parts car started then you should sell it as is to someone who may need an engine or possibly the whole drivetrain. Either way you’re in it now and you won’t lose money on it. Get ur done!!! 😂 If you need a break from it, then take one. It’s not like you have a lot of cars sitting around to finish working on. Oh wait you do 🤣 only busting your chops brother!!!You’ll finish her up eventually. Don’t rush. Your fans aren’t going anywhere!!! 👍🏻😁

Randy you have flushed the transmission and sump but I have not heard you talk about or seen you flush out the transmission cooler In the radiator.that would be why you still have water going into the transmission. Flush the cooler out ,replace the filter and transmission oil and you should be good otherwise your just putting good oil into bad oil.
I hope the trans in the parts car is good. I disliked those cars until you got yours. Now I’d like to find one, in red.
BTW, I’m an electronic engineer and manage to repair about 80% of modules from flood cars for friends, free of course. You can send me yours if the parts car modules don’t work out for you.

Y'all remember when Publishers Clearing House had the stamps for the magazines and all that? Remember how they also used to do car sweepstakes and had the cars on the stamps? I remember thinking the Allante stamp looked really cool. I think it was a red one, too. Love the series on this car. Not sure what GM was smoking at the time but the car is memorable regardless of the sales.
I am from Germany and the Allante isn't well known here. But it's a beautiful car. At least it's a little famous from the tv series "Married with children", when in one episode Kelly Bundy did some adverting for it. It was a red one too. Sad to hear about Christina Applegates illness with multiple sclerosis.
Nice video Randy. Move forward with the car. People can learn from these videos more so than a walk-a-round at a lot.
I love that you are repairing this car. Keep it up. As for the color, I hate red interiors but in this case, I say switch it to an all red interior.
Save this car. It deserves it. You'll recoup your money selling what's left of the parts car when you're done. You referenced how much the hard top is worth, but remember what you were told the bumper covers alone are worth, if they're not damaged. This is like SwampVette 2.0.. It's the Hurrillante!

The carpet looks to be in great shape... Maybe worth the time to power wash and shampoo them to see how they turn out.... Also, are you able to cannibalize an amp from the old speakers for the new one? Is there a harness specific to the doors that you could pick up? Maybe just a bad harness. As for the seats, I would pull the seat cover and tun them inside out clean and disinfect them take the seats from the parts car and take the red covers off and use the guts and put the cleaned black covers on them... I am a big fan of keeping everything as original as possible when it comes to the rarer vehicles
I vote for the red convertible but if you were to get the other one running and driving and find it is low miles it might be worth not tearing it apart for parts you might have to restore a second one to sale to recoup some of your money
Hello from Fort Myers Florida. I drove 2 hours to look at this car. They would not let me into the lot to look at the car. I didn't want to bid without seeing it.
The car was flooded nearby me and tried to locate the owner to see how much it was flooded. I didn't want to bid on it esp with all copart fees etc. I have owned 6 Allantes in Michigan. however after watching your videos, am glad you bought it. It does look like a fun project though. But too much for me. Will you have a clear title for it in the future? Good luck , love watching your progress.

Some torque converters had drain plugs in the to drain them out to I believe my 1989 Cadillac sedan deville had one it had the 4.5 v8
Sadly there’s no inspection cover to access a drain plug.
Randy, the passenger side window draws its power from the master switch in the driver's side door.
Randy check the wiring harness connection from the door through a pillar for possible corrosion
It's just a personal opinion, but I like the black seats and carpet with the red paint. Some cars from the 60's were red and red. I'm not to much of a fan of the red on red.
Randy, I’m suspecting an earth issue on the passenger door. Also, I pressure washed my ‘88 Foxbody convertible carpets, they are original to the car and look brand new
Get the parts car, you need a speaker, headlights, windscreen, possibly a fuse block and it continues. There’s also a trans if yours fails
FYI: use your foot (with shoe on naturally) and grind the oil dry into the spill you will be surprised how much better it works.
You will probably have to remove the torque converter and drain it or replace it. They are nearly impossible to get the water out of them...

I would say save it since it only have 40,000 miles on it. She has proven herself to be reliable.
I would just keep going with the Cadillac u have for a the parts car it would most likely take a lot more time and money to save it good video as always

why not take shifter out, sand blast it, rustoleum the metal and then grease the metal with axle grease. keep other for backup. For the under carpet..... find some Sound insulation material

If you take tide or liquid liquid dish soap water and a broom or a scrub brush to that carpet and then a power washer or take it to the car wash and blow it off and then turn it over and blow it off and hang it to dry put it back in the look really good as long as they're not war or stained
Randy, dye the red carpet black if you want to. I've seen others do that, so if you have the time, it might be a good project.

Hey randy check the door wiring harness where it plugs into the car . Might be a corroded pin or 2 where they plug into the car harness
Tough call have to see how the other car is the red one may be a parts car for the new one. Hope you do some filming getting the other one
There are a ton of those flooded cars on the market right now. Some dealers are trying to clean them up and resell them which should be illegal. I found a 2007 Mercedes CLS 550 AMG with 44,000 miles on it. When my son and I looked at it the trunk was still soaked. In places I could see it had been underwater. Including a water line on the carpet in the trunk. Also it had a ton of electronics problems. I walked away of course. Folks check the Carfax. If that car has been in Florida during the hurricanes walk away.
Flood cars don’t scare me.

But once a car has been flooded with salt water even if you get it running right in about three years there will be electronic problems to such a degree the car is actually totaled. While you can flush fluids all the electrical connections that are not water proof hold the salt and the corrosion begins.
My car insurer crushes flood cars.

Pull the trans dip stick, remove the trans pan, and force air down the tube. Maybe it will force out remaining fluid.
I think the red might look good, but you won't know until you try it out.
You never know, you may be able to get the parts car running and make some of your money back.
On that window it's probably a corroded wire on the backside of the fuse panel . I'd try and find which fuse it is and try to bypass it
