I think nowadays, DLSS and FSR have just become a must. Not because of the need for more fps but just to make the game playable with suitable fps cause of the horrible optimizations. There's only so much fps a GPU can achieve with raw power but optimization is what makes it count. BTW... Love your analysis of the 4070 and of course. Your signature humor ❤️😂
I'm afraid that those functions will be an excuse for developers to not optimise their games because why would they bother if people can turn on the frame gen and DLSS?
I have 4070 and I played it at 1440p with DLSS Quality and Frame Gen and EVERYTHING maxed out, both ray tracing and standard graphics settings. In the same zone you're in, I had like from 45 to 55 FPS, but I enjoyed it anyways. I am a huge enjoyer of mouse and keyboard, but in this game I chose to use controller, both for mouse issues and for its own nature, it's a really slow paced game, you don't need great shooting or responsiveness. What I'm saying is that input lag wasn't that much of a problem for me, I barely noticed it and ray tracing really makes a difference in this game
I even enjoyed this game at 30fps on my rtx 4050 laptop (had to enable motion blur though). I usually find anything under 45fps unbearable but the quality of the motion blur and the slow pace of the game really helps.
Looking foward to my 4070, i do think that, with these games, playing with a controller with frame gen will be fine, playing MK you can really feel the input lag
Im using my 4k tv with a controller with 4k ultra performance dlss ultra path tracing and fg, and wow this game still looks good from sitting on my couch and fps is good too! I love it 😁
Can confirm I played the game start to finish with my 4070 with RT and PT at 1440p DLSS Balanced with FG and it was above 60 fps all of the time and with a Controller it was an amazing experience.
Input lag is mostly irrelevant when you play games like AW2 if you play with controller, i played on 4070 1440p High with DLSS balanced + RT/PT High + FG at around 60 (forest)-90fps (everywhere else) and there was litteraly 0 issues with delays.

Thanks! I always enjoy your videos and the Alan Wake 2 benchmarks in particular! I'm on a 6800XT with 27' 1440p monitor and it performs exactly the same as the 4070 here. I maxed out everything, the only things that I turn down are the Volumetric Lightning setting to Low and Post Processing to Medium cause it's really intensive without much visual eye candy in return. I enable FSR Quality, it looks a lot less shimmery than FSR Native and the FPS is around 80 in this first area and in the chapters where you play with Alan is above a 100 fps. If I turn off FSR I'm around 50-55 fps in this area and 60-70 in the less intensive areas. But FSR is free performance and it looks really GOOD. This game is a masterpiece and I did not encounter a single bug, crash or stutter and I'm 4 chapters in. It seems like it's not at all hard to run and runs flawlessly.
@@OmnianMIU sigh it's you again the nvidia fanboy.. stop the shill and face the reality.. 4070 and below can't run PT above 60+ fps in this game even with FG, RR and DLSSQ ON at 1440p max settings lmao

Remedy did a very good job with their recommended specs. I'm 20 hours in and I play on RT medium 1440p / dlss quality & FG. For 3 hours I was ok, then the stuttering became unbearable, clearly a VRAM issue. I switched to 1080p RT medium as recommended by remedy and honestly, is better

Hi, could you make a video testing Alan Wake with PS5 Pro settings in Quality Mode on your RTX 4070? According to Digital Foundry, the PS5 uses the Medium preset for Alan Wake, and I assume the Pro will too, with an upscaled image via PSSR from 1224p to 4K. On PC, this would be roughly DLSS Balance. Additionally, Ray Tracing is applied-probably on low. Here’s a summary of the settings: 4K with DLSS Balance, Medium preset, RT on Low. It would be amazing to see if the RTX 4070 can match the PS5 Pro as an alternative. Thanks a lot, and you’ve already got a new subscriber!
I don't get it. If the input lag of FG is going to be a pain in the ass when playing videogames what's the point of it? I know there's more fps on the counter but does it truly worth it? I'm not saying this as a Hater. I really wanna love (and buy) a 4000 series but I want to know for sure that FG is worth it because with FSR3.0 falling not that far from DLSS I see no value on 4000 series
I'll upgrade from my 1080ti when the 5000 series GPUs come out. Just seems super disappointing to spend $600 to get performance like this in current gen games. With how fast DLSS technology is advancing, I'd rather wait till frame-gen gets better and DLSS upscaling has basically zero negatives. We are so close, I'd rather not kneecap myself for the next six years lol. Unreal Engine 5 is a beast and more and more games are using path-tracing, hold out and get something you won't have to upgrade in two years like the past few generations.
If you want to play modern games at max settings you have to either upgrade every 2 years or just get a top tier card. There is no other way and there was never other way to do that. I had 3060 (which is on par with 1080 Ti) and I thought I can wait for some time before I upgrade to a better GPU. First I wanted to get 3070 or 3070 Ti. Then decided to wait until 4000 series released. Was not impressed with them either. But what is next? Wait 2 more years? But what if 5000 series will not be that much faster then 4000? What if they will be even more expensive? Wait more? Nah. You will never be able to get a GPU, which will last for several years of uncompromised gaming. So if you want to play games and have fun, just get a new GPU today. P. S. Now maybe it is worth to wait until Supers will be released (it should happen very soon). 4070 Super rumored to be priced at the same $600, but it should be almost as fast as 4070 Ti. That could be a relatively good deal.
@@stangamer1151 Yeah, this card lasted me 7 years maxing out every game at 1440p for the longest time. I think I'll wait lol, enjoy DLSS 3 for the next few years though. I'll wait till the tech is advanced enough and has matured where there isn't a massive update for DLSS which requires me to upgrade every generation. @@JordanJ01 Looks like you have not played AAA games then. Just one year after 1080 Ti was launched, RDR2 was released. And this card was not able to max out this game at 1440p. In 2019 there were Control and Metro Exodus, in 2020 - Cyberpunk and HZD. 1080 Ti can not max out any of these games at 1440p either. In 2022 we had Dying Light 2 and A Plague Tale 2, which were too demanding for 1080Ti as well. So I do not understand, how your card was "maxing out every game at 1440p for 7 years", if it became 1080p card for AAA games in just 1-2 years after it's launch. Same happened to 2080 Ti. And now 3090 struggles in some modern games at 1440p/Max too. Tech will never become "mature". It will be evolving faster and faster. We are living in AI era after all. Nothing will stop it. If you want to access the latest features and play at highest settings (without sacrificing resolution), you have to upgrade every 2-3 years. GPUs and CPUs are like phones or TVs there days. P. S. How do you lock fps on an nVidia card?
nvidia control panel or many videos on you tube o riva turner
Disable all artificial locks because they're rubbish. Use RivaTuner which comes with MSI Afterburner and essentially turns the Frametime graph into a straight line.
oh really? @@HiluxForEveryone
Ray tracing is a waste, not much improvement in fidelity as much the performance costs

I bought this game for PC with a huge discount, but now, either I buy a new pc to play it (my notebook rtx 2060 is dying with this game) or I buy a console version... 🥲🥲🥲
