Engine troop here; if you've never turned a wrench, it will be much harder to gauge different aspects. Not saying it can't be done, but having prior experience working on engines and having a feel for how a crossthread is going to happen, how much torque to apply on a 5/16 wobby socket on a 6" extension and how to hold the wrench so as to not strip the head...it all comes with actual wrench time. The USAF will train you but there are some things that only actual hands on time will teach you.
