Goku, on the other hand, is surrounded by people who love him and care for him, e.g. his grandpa and all his friends. If DBS was designed to tell a narrative story it would have the same formula as DBZ with Vegeta and Goku being the ex daddy machina for Trunks and Goten with them as the stand-in's for the audience. Narratively speaking it with DB Goku DBZ Gohan with Goku being his co-star so DBS should be Goten and Trunks by extension but it's not.
