Wow!!! Even when down with Covid and on path of recovery Mam is able to pull such voice. I was struggling with my normal Pooja rituals for almost a month.
Every Indian worth his salt should fall at the feet of such great classical Indian singers. For years, with no money, no food, no resources these classical singers have been practicing music in isolation only to entertain audience with sweet music that is drenched in devotion to god and reflects true Indian culture. Sona Mahapatra, we salute you and your creed.
The same issues that Sona discusses about Folk Songs of India, exists with Dance, as an ardent Odissi dancer we have, the main reason that while I teach and perform, my bread and butter is my engineering job.
Eg. At Indian festivities, and sadly (because I am bengali) some bengali ones, I was actually told once that I should pay for the stage or perform for free, contrast to being invited to lecture on dance at Wellesley College or Museum of Fine Arts Boston, I was given a stipend without even asking!
I watched Sona ma'am perform live at LPU Coke Studio. I was the first person from the stage and I have video of her singing which seems like I'm recording her album. 😅❤️

@@desiDJ909 she sang a odia folk song , and the original people felt she disrespected the original cause of her misspronunciations of the words , now I don't speak odia so idk to what extent she messed up .. but she's from Orissa too .. so idk how much she messed up ? ,
But most people I think didn't mind it ... The comments section are people politely telling her ..

1. Its not a folk song. Its one of the most popular bhajans of Sri Jagannath, the heart and soul of Odias.
2. Not the music, but despite being of Odia origin, she mispronounced most of the words. Used wrong lyrics. And that offended Odisha's people.
3. Dancing is never considered bad in Jagannath culture, which gave Odissi to the world.
