Over the last 700 years this song has been sung by various people...in various ways...EVERYONE has got their own personal favourite rendition of this Khusrau classic...so please no hate. No disrespect to the Masters. But I personally ADORE this rendition...love the singer! This rendition has got that upbeat happy kick to it that brings out the joy the mureed may have been feeling after meeting his Piya Murshid for the first time. Please ignore the tad bit of misogyny you may encounter, you know "ghar nari gawari" because the fact of the matter is that in Khusrau's time 'ghar naris' were generally 'gawari'!
Sona killed it. The song is very difficult in terms of range, melisma, phrasing and emotive requirements. A few pitchy spots here and there but overall, her rendition of Piya Se was impeccable.
