Visited my local Michael’s store today and purchased about 125 new colors of floss. Mine were about 30 years old. They have a lot of new colors. Been putting them on bobbins all afternoon. Will take me a couple of days to get them all done. Love your slow stitching.
Thanks for mentioning your inspirations, I appreciate. I am a huuuge fan of Jude Hill ❤ and Mandy Pattulo 💙 too, they're making such magical cloth things through the years! 💙❤💚💛🧡❤💖💜💙💕
It is so beautiful and visually/ texturally fascinating. You should submit it to one of your favorite magazines. Especially, one that features slow-stitching. xx
I do this kind of thing also. Also Gentlework- and small fabric wearable pins which I have sold , thank you so much . It is so wonderful to find a kindred spirit .
ESP you have Rachel! I have finally started to work on my slow stitching and I am loving it. I find it to be relaxing. So thank you for showing me where to begin😍🌴
The 2 I started looking at were Tanglewood Threads 'A year of Scratchings, 2012' and 1 Year in Stitches, 2017. A project on one embroidery hoop. I believe they are Instagram views. I fell in love with the idea of recording the year thru stitches, not words. This is outside of the box for me, I follow clothing patterns and have only dabbled in embroidery so many years ago that it doesn't count. I enjoy her videos and am trying my hand at this 'art', very slowly.
I think this is so beautiful. Thank you for taking the time to do this on video. I know what you mean about liking the opposite/wrong side of the buttons. Sometimes, I can't decide which side to have facing out. :) Also, thank you for the references to others who also slow stitch. One of these days, I am going to learn how to do this so it doesn't look like a 2 year-old did it. LOL! Take care!!
So gorgeous! I can't remember if you first ran a machine stitch over the individual pieces before coming back and slow stitching? I need to do this with all my bits and bobs!
Its Looking great Rachel, lm still working on mine as well, This Pandemic has brought out the stitching in us all. I'm starting a new Stitching Saturday on my channel as l just love sewing it's so relaxing. Hugs Susanna xx 😊❤🧵
When my threads gets all knotty in the back and bunches up I dangle the needle from my work to untwist the threads. Then I clear the back. But if I feel the threads start to become difficult I will dangle it then. Another trick is beeswax. Run the thread through it and it is supposed to keep the threads from tangling and it helps it glide through the fabric. I worry the beeswax will stain so I use the dangle method.
Thanks Rachel love watching you stitch, it's very relaxing especially while i stitch along. Yes all those ladies are so very talented, i also like Cas Holmes & many more. I signed up to textileartist.org over 2 years ago and they frequently feature textile artists including Mandy Pattullo & Anne Kelly. Anyway thanks again & looking forward to more stitching vids & the stitching book vid x.
Is Cas Holmes the other slow stitcher you were thinking of hon? I have 3, I think, of her books. Must check out the person you were talking about too. The one with two Ts in her surname lol. Love your piece!!! 🙂❤️🇦🇺xxx
Gorgeous!! What are you planning to do with this strip? Cutting into pieces- eek, no!!!, too long to wrap on a journal, horizontal wall hanging?, well maybe cut into piece ( difficult to write that) and sell pieces so fans could own a Rachel original......
I enjoy watching your slow stitching & appreciate your effort to stay in camera shot. You may already know, but you still went out of camera view at the bottom of your screen sometimes. I guess you are just pulling your work closer to you. Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for sharing your projects with us! I really enjoy them. Have a great weekend.
Rachel my sweet lady friend who passed away last year left me all her sewing room but what I need to ask is I have a huge tool of rug thread in gray what could I do with it any ideas ? It’s gorgeous Thought you would help me . Thanks so much

I completely forgot, surprise, surprise! I wil do it in the next video. I bought them on Etsy and a few came off old pillow slips. Thank you so much!

It's going on a wooden spool. It's just to look at, no function other than that. Thank you so much!

Oh I'm not sure what you can do with it as I'm not sure what it's like. Thank you so much!
Hi Rachel, love your slow stitch roll - i am looking to start one, not done it before. Could I ask what thread your using?
I'm using a mix of threads - DMC 6 strand embroidery floss, Perle cotton, wool and so on. Thank you so much!
Lovely ❣️ I enjoy this type of project too. I'm wondering what will you do with it when completed?
I came here wondering the same thing. 😊
Art does not need any other purpose than being made... 😘 just sayin. It's slow cloth, the reason for it might be "to be made"...
It will go on a wooden spool, it's really just something to look at and enjoy! Thank you so much!
@@iHanna wasn't my intention at all. Well aware of the purpose of art.
Dear Rachel what will you do with this when completed please
It's on a wooden spool and is just to look at. I would never cut it up.
