Funny how big city people think max telephoto lenses are "creepy." Out here in fly-over bumpkin land we use those types of lenses for wildlife, sports and arena photos.
The most exciting thing about camera comparisons between this and other phones is that other phones are basically done with updates and optimizations. This phone is so new that it's going to undoubtedly receive some meaningful updates over the next three to four months. No, it's not going to be a wild, world-altering game-changer, but you can reasonably and realistically expect the S21 Ultra to be a better camera by the summer than it is right now.
...as long as it is better than the terrible s20U that was a disgrace in price, poor realisations of expectations and as an Exynos region hopefully a lot better performance and battery life? The s20U was so bad last year that the s21U by just not having issues will be what the s20U should have been. It will take me a while to forgive Samsung for the s20U that I wasted my money on, but yes this looks a lot better but wait until the next-gen SD888 flagships arrive in the next few months as they will be cheaper and have as good specs.

So I'm not sure if this was intentional on the part of the creator, but there was a story on the display of the phone near the end of the video at timestamp 13:13. The story was about a legally blind man using a camera to regain sight. I found this especially interesting, being illegally blind man myself. I also happen to use the Samsung Galaxy s20 Ultra system to help me see. And to help me even further, I've ordered the S21 Ultra as well. These phones are unique tools that help me live a more independent life, and I'm thankful to Samsung for making them!

As someone who has 20/20 vision and had the Note 20 ultra I notice that difference between 1080p and 1440p straight away on a larger phone. It was one of the reasons I sent it back! Maybe the next Note with an AMD GPU in the UK will be worth it. To be honest though the Z fold 2 is amazing.

When you trade in a qualifying phones you get $800 in credit. I have $100 left on the phone balance which is added over 30 months and only a few bucks more on my bill a month. At the time the phone (s21ultra) retailed for $1200. Not bad huh? 😎
Some specs the manufacturers should include are the height to width ratio of the screen and the screen area in square centimeters; not just the diagonal length.

The thing that put me into the "buy" category was 1440p at 120hz. I'm typing on my silver S21 Ultra now! This is what I call a true 'premium experience.' It makes my S20 Plus feel and look like a cheap phone.
Personally I wouldn’t be too upset if Samsung made the S21 Ultra this year’s Note device. I’m still confused on how the stylus charges, although I like the idea of it attaching to a case instead of sliding into the phone - assuming the battery life of the pen is good enough to not need frequent charging. Really like having the larger battery and I like the larger stylus. Was never a fan of how fragile the Note styli felt in pervious years. Furthermore last year’s Note was largely a much needed refinement on the flawed S20 Ultra released early 2020. Given how good the S21 Ultra is I just don’t feel a modified version is needed until next year’s S22 Ultra.
What's the ethical question about zooms, we have had cameras that can zoom 10x more and beyond than that. There is a reason to have long zooms like looking at birds at the moon etc.
Ugh... 1440p is a lot better for a lot of work-related tasks - the difference of checking a spreadsheet is very noticeable. I understand that 1440p video versus 1080p video (so when the image is moving) is very difficult to differentiate.
Really wish reviewers would call out how stupid it was for Samsung to remove MST during a freaking global pandemic...barely any reviewers even mention it probably because they're all in big cities where you don't need it, but for the rest of us NOT living in big cities it REALLY SUCKS. I have a question please. At around 12.25 you mention that the video sometimes look grainy. Have you tried turning of video stabilization and does it improve the image quality? Also, could it be related to bitrate, meaning if you film using filmic pro and "extreme" bitrate, would it produce less noise?

Engadget can you please do some videos of best WiFi portable storage, best flash drives and best portable storage? Considering sd is dead and Google Photos free unlimited storage will be dead in June, these videos would be really helpful and more relevant then ever. Plus let's face it, they will be considerably more faster then sd cards. Because I don't know about you all but when I put either a SanDisk Extreme or Extreme Pro in my device... It made the device not as responsive, when it had to read from internal and sd (A2 class just can't compare to UFS 3.0 and 3.1 internal storage).
Hence why I'm not bothered about the sd removal... its not like Apple has it. Would be really interesting in knowing which are the best/fastest portable Wi-Fi storage, flash drives and other external mass storage (which you can just connect to you pc or router, as your own personal cloud storage).
that was years back with that horrible touchwiz,i had the s8 for 2 years and everything was smooth and i also used the s10 plus for 2 years now,it’s still smooth.

I'm literally in the same position, I adore this OnePlus 7 pro but wanted to upgrade. Originally I wanted to get the next best OnePlus but the 9 hasn't been announced yet but the 21 ultra is big atm. So I've watched countless review vids for it and I'm pretty much sold. Unless OnePlus announces some game changer OnePlus 9 then ultra it definitely is.

Def left wondering why they even bothered with this one as I think the extra $200 for the Ultra is a no-brainer. The s21 also appears to be a bit of a puzzle as it will I assume compete with the s21FE for around the same price! The S21 looks like a poor seller and I expect that to fall in price very quickly. Samsung really putting all the eggs into the Ultra basket which is a risk as flagship sales are in decline and with a World Recession and COVID still unresolved, so the reduction in price and the pre-order deals are likely to be followed by big discounts as the better value competition arrives.
It’s probably more to do with using the device too much. What kind of laptop do you have? Most aren’t more than 1440, but 1080 is still common. If you need 1440 on a 6” screen, than on 14” even 4k might be a problem for you. A laptop isn’t more than twice the distance away from your face compared to a phone. Don’t get me started on tablets

Do people just not take nature photos when going out for walks? I use my rubbish iPhone 11 Pro camera to zoom in on birds around the house. I live in Australia, we have cool birds. I don’t know why reviewers first thought of zoom is to take pervert photos.
Apples way of that is upsell.... for most people 128GB was fine. For those who crave 256GB or 512GB it was an additional cost to the latter. As for samsung, you could buy a 128GB, 256GB or 512GB phone but the added bonus was a microSD card slot (up until S6/S6 edge - the slot was removed, and then brought back as per customer demand until the s21 series came about... then Samsung laughed at apple and behold some time later they removed the microSD card capability of the phone again.
I am so tempted with the S21, it does look really nicely polished but with Samsung switching to AMD graphics later this year then the S22 might utterly embarrass the S21 when it arrives and at those kinds of prices I really don't want to regret my purchase after just one year.
Yes, reviewers will not do the techie in-depth stuff, the GPU on the Exynos still performs below its grade by two cycles compared to the iPhone. Speedtest X shows you are getting a second-rate GPU and as you say wait until next year if you play games.
@@Mike-t5r9q yes Samsung and AMD signed a cross licence agreement a few years ago. I was hoping it would be ready for the S21 but it's meant to be later in the year now, maybe the new Note? A few benchmarks have leaked and early samples are up to 3x graphical performance increase!

Do people just not take nature photos when going out for walks? I use my rubbish iPhone 11 Pro camera to zoom in on birds around the house. I live in Australia, we have cool birds.

This is a good review, but why does samsung must have sd card and apple has never offered.
Apples way of that is upsell.... for most people 128GB was fine. For those who crave 256GB or 512GB it was an additional cost to the latter. As for samsung, you could buy a 128GB, 256GB or 512GB phone but the added bonus was a microSD card slot (up until S6/S6 edge - the slot was removed, and then brought back as per customer demand until the s21 series came about... then Samsung laughed at apple and behold some time later they removed the microSD card capability of the phone again.
My 20 ultra is perfect.. They fix all the problem they had with the phone including the focus issues... It runs like butter

Buy a phone next year. No good releases this year. Base s21 is too basic, oneplus will be overpriced, lg is dead and Sony is years behind

I am so tempted with the S21, it does look really nicely polished but with Samsung switching to AMD graphics later this year then the S22 might utterly embarrass the S21 when it arrives and at those kinds of prices I really don't want to regret my purchase after just one year.
Yes, reviewers will not do the techie in-depth stuff, the GPU on the Exynos still performs below its grade by two cycles compared to the iPhone. Speedtest X shows you are getting a second-rate GPU and as you say wait until next year if you play games.
Is snapdragon upgrading to AMD as well ?
@@Mike-t5r9q yes Samsung and AMD signed a cross licence agreement a few years ago. I was hoping it would be ready for the S21 but it's meant to be later in the year now, maybe the new Note? A few benchmarks have leaked and early samples are up to 3x graphical performance increase!

Hopefully this new AMD chip will come out in the Note 21, if it looks amazing then I will wait for the S22 to use it but if it was all hype and it's not that great then the S21 will have dropped a lot in price so will probably get that then.
