Xim/cronus has genuinely ruined cross play fps. As a former contract esports player its really really sad to see things like. A ban wave wiping out 80% of high elo lobbys for a few weeks. People like to cope and say cheating isnt common but the last year we breached the threshold in most games. Where a net total of over 51% of high ranked players (at least in games like cod) were in some way tool assisted

Swear years ago it was just different controllers, console gaming was pretty much the same experience for everyone. Now it's paddles vs no paddles, monitor instead of tv, refresh rates, higher frames vs lower frames, xim, cronus etc. It's become a hardware battle.

IM SO GLAD YOU SAID IT! The 20% dead zone has been my actual nightmare. I legit thought it was me being bad at games. Like it was crazy coming back from a hiatus from apex with its ALC settings and then getting a dual sense edge and having even greater control of dead zones and stick sensitivity, I was absolutely eating with customization in Apex. Then I cam back to D2 and wanted to grind rank there again but my aim felt SOOOO slow, literally like you said like dragging my sticks thru mud. I was so confused. I now see it is just D2 forced bullshit. I have to have a separate profile just to make my aim feel slightly comparable to what it is in Apex. Glad to know finally. I can stop tripping.

    • @thewarroirtaco
      @thewarroirtaco 9 месяцев назад +1

Ok just got to the end and once I get some more PS plus. I will log into D2 and really fine tune my settings again and give some feed back. The best solution I found is using the dual sense on console tho. So that really does put you in different disadvantage pool cuz you can only have the profiles active on PS5. But cranking up right stick response curves to instantly mellow back out after input seems to be the money. Auto rifles track more, I feel like I can look around and behind myself without snapping my neck. I'm not even all that great period, but I do try really hard to be better and apex really helped. But my gods trying to hit certain small targets in dungeons is really hard until I cranked up the response curve. I do hope you see this and consider it.

I've been playing d2 since launch and got a dual sense Edge about a month ago, it really does get rid of some of the bullshit. I have my d2 profile set to 4% deadzones and my right stick curve set in a way that I can aim with more intent for small adjustments but, the sensitivity will ramp if I need to spin around, also, helps sliding into engagements paired with crouch set to a paddle. Not to mention, shortening trigger pulls to a tap. Wish they would standardize paddles and controller profiles, doesn't really seem like something you should have to pay 200 usd for

The amount of customizing with deadzones and swappable sticks and paddles are great. Having jump and crouch on the back of the controller help tremendously in gaming in general. Almost feels mandatory in modern competitive fps games. I don't want to get to the times where cheating in games is viewed in the same light. Like keeping up with the competition means having to cheat as well.

I just use a Dualsense Edge w paddles, literally nothing tweaked besides in game settings and mapping a single paddle to crouch using the default ps5 config software for that controller. I can only use one paddle at a time because I’m still not used to them, if I have two I occasionally fatfinger the other one. The built in trigger stoppers on the controller also help, but that’s as far as I’m willing to go, I just can’t play claw grip and having to take my finger off of the right stick to crouch mid fight completely takes away my ability to throw off others aim from my head. I’ve been playing fps games for over a decade with normal controllers and having said all this I sound like a “bad” or casual player, but having the advantage of that one single paddle did wonders for me. At the end of the day if you have good aim, awareness and knowledge about what you are playing and how you play it there is absolutely no need for any form of “cheating” listed in this video even in the higher echelon of PvP. That’s just my experience as a controller sweat though. Hope the industry takes a step in the right direction to prevent frequent cheating from going unnoticed.

Only issue with improved controller settings on d2 would be the xim configs also getting much stronger, probably more so than controller. For example, with the deadzones currently present you're immediately hitting those if you move your mouse too fast. Sure, reduced deadzones would massively help controller, but it'd also worsen the ximming problem. Or the customizable aim response curves, could essentially allow a 1:1 input with virtually no aim accel but all the aim assist of a controller.

If you do end up seeing this, I've always been a console player. I'd probably be considered a "top percentile" player by most standards. Up until a couple months ago I've always used the default controller for ps4 and ps5.
Default controller, default button set up with triggers swapped (ADS/Fire with L1/R1 vs L2/R2) I play at 19 sens and .9 ads multiplier.
I guess i couldnt say if that makes it feel "good" as I'm not very knowledgeable about how fps games are supposed to feel, but I think it feels good to me. I don't play claw or anything so I've always just whipped my right thumb to whatever button I need to press and back to the stick. Has worked out well enough.
When I said this was the case until a couple months ago it's because I bought a battle beaver with 4 back buttons. It was a slog to get used to that after practically 9 or 10 years of playing destiny the same way with no extra buttons but I've gotten used to it. I will say it has made me FEEL like my aim has gotten better but my performance overall hasn't really changed.

That idea of less aim assist is an interesting one, and something I've wondered about for years in destiny. I grew up on games with no AA (or at least super low AA) so I've always been used to having to put my shots where I want them. Aim training programs were my daily grind, and I was pretty good at them. Not world's best or anything like that, just pretty good.
I'm on mnk for reference. Destiny always had that feel like something is pulling my shots away from where I put them, and to be successful I needed to relax my control and let the game do some of the work. That's been my only complaint about the feel of the game since the beginning. It makes my aim lazy af.
I doubt anyone will actually read this whole comment, but I'm leaving it anyway! Lol
First world D2 problems: As I shoot and that accuracy ring grows, my bullets stop going where I put them. Same with as the stability or range stat worsens on a weapon. And especially when I'm moving and flicking too fast. I don't think I have a perfect understanding of how aim assist works in destiny, but I know full auto and high fire rate weapons feel awful with less of it. Polaris Lance vs Skyburners oath is a perfect example of my confusion. Polaris has 39 AA, and I can hit every crit nearly every time, while Skyburners has 90 AA and it's actually pretty difficult by comparison to hit those crits every time unless we're just talking about stationary follow up shots. It feels like my aiming is too fast for the game, and my shots happen when they should, but the game slows the reticle or something as it approaches the crit. Idk, maybe it's just how lazy my aim has gotten, or my reaction time has slowed down just enough to impact D2 specifically, because I'm still fine in other games that have less AA once I adjust.
I picked up a lethophobia with slick draw and golden tricorn. It took me a match or two to get used to it, but it really felt so good for that arrow to go exactly where I put it instead of arcing two feet over at 50 yards. I like the feeling I get when it's obviously my skill that gets me that W. It's really the only thing that makes me focus on improving. If all my shots are RNG as to whether they'll go where I'm aiming because the bullet is sent through a pattern in the reticle ring, then RNG is the only thing to improve, which takes me off the hook for being responsible for my own skill improvements. Suddenly it's the game devs who need to increase my ability to hit shots. That alone is usually enough to put me off a game. Somehow the secret sauce in D2 has had me playing for more than 8k hrs without any real complaints even with all that aim assist throwing off my accuracy. Wow, it feels weird to say that.

Hey cammy, this was a thorough video and your closing question was enough to bring me to your comment section.
In destiny 1 I rocked an 8 sensitivity on a standard Xbox controller then bought 2 elite series 1’s. When Destiny 2 came out I always rocked 10 initially. When the sensitivity buffs came out, I found a sweet spot at 15 sense with a 0.6 modifier, sprint modifier was set to max at 0.8. I’ve owned 3 Elite series 2’s as they tend to break a lot and my current controller is a Frankenstein controller running off parts from each of my elite series 2 purchases. I have all 4 paddles (top left crouch, top right jump, bottom left class ability, bottom right swap weapons). Thumbsticks are standard length and loosest tension. My left thumbstick is set to the Aggressive curve maxed. My right thumbstick is set to the Smooth curve @ the 2nd notch.
I reached a breaking point recently where all I faced in trials were PK donning titans rocking max range rolled SMGs with minimal stability but maximized aim assist. I’m not gonna lie, I searched up ways to use a cronus and where to buy one. I never bought it but I still feel dirty for even considering it. I’m glad I stayed clean as I just knew the community was reaching a breaking point and I wanted to maintain my dignity.
Im happy to rely on my natural ability to use weapons to the absolute max potential such as min/maxed heliocentric sidearm with Moving target/Precision Instrument so I can TTK edge and maximized an 80 mobility Khepris Horn Titan.

When I worked at my local small movie theater, a lot of us played WoW. One of the employees found an automatic fishing macro to use during work rushes. We would all have our laptops lined up on the back counter running the fishing macro simultaneously. After the work rushes, we would cook and sell our fish for gold. Those were good times.

The biggest thing that annoys me as a controller player is that devs balance aim assist by making recoil greater natively.
Meaning that even if you turn off aim assist - which I do if given the option - I'm at a much more significant disadvantage. If I could have MnK levels of recoil when I turn AA off I'd literally never use aim assist again. I just want my guns to shoot straight.
I don't use any settings in any controllers, I don't use macros, I'll adjust deadzones and things like that if given the in game option, but if it isn't in the game I think it's murky in terms of acceptability.

Just want to say that you made this video very well! Very organized, straight to the point, and you aren’t dumbing down the complexities of the arguments, involving lots of good research/examples while still making it easy to understand. I wonder how many players I’ve been up against running xim or Cronus on console, the cross video had a stat saying it was like a third of all players … that’s scary. My personal set up is an Xbox elite series 2 with paddles for sliding/crouching, and either jumping or reviving depending on my loadout or the game (like in OW I always run jump, same thing in trials, and on strand hunter so I can slide, grab a tangle and 180 turn at the same time, which I do all the time. But otherwise I run jump). My only annoyances with controller is that it limits movement(can’t strafe as fast due to how thumb sticks work, as you talked about) and sens, which also ties into movement, but I like higher sens, feels much more fun and fluid, but higher sens = less precise aim for controller. But controller has more aim assist at least, so if I spec into movement like strand hunter or snap skating on dawnblade, or genji in OW, the movement may be worse, but I have a bit easier time aiming if I hit the initial flick right, which is harder on controller, but the small adjustments aren’t as much of a problem with aim assist

Cronus is capable of doing stuff like even increasing rate of fire, which is absolutely ridiculous. But more realistically it just removes recoil, which is a massive advantage still. And xim allows you to have the precision of m and k but with the aim assist of controller. Sure you don’t get all the advantages m and k has on regular pc, but it allows you to strafe faster without needing to move the whole stick back and forth, and aim more precisely, which is the main weakness of controller which is why it has aim assist in so many games. But if you have the precision AND the aim assist, that’s ridiculous. It’s why people largely consider it as cheating, including cammy

      @cryengine_x 9 месяцев назад

@@BuffGenji cronus cant increase rate of fire. there you go spreading misinformation again. It would be like a turbo button on a snes controller or something, cronus cant actually create more inputs than exist, which is regulated by the game. Not only that but I doubt few to any weapons in destiny are fire rate limited. Hand Cannons are #1 usage by far and obviously they fire very slowly. But no, Cronus absolutely cannot make your 720 SMG a 2000 RPM SMG. Well any FA weapon you max fire rate by holding the button anyway.
cronus cant control recoil in destiny either, because it's rng. Maybe the few new guns that have deterministic recoil, I'm honestly not sure about those.
ok your points on xim seem legit. but it's just not "omg mnk with controller aim assist" which granted would be very strong. Because it's limited to controller input speed. Maybe its some advantage I honestly dont know.

    Great video.
As a MnK player, the 20% deadzone on controller in Destiny is crazy. That single-handedly is the greatest disadvantage I can think of and probably the reason why it feels so awful to use. I use an opensource software called Raw Accel to change my mouse inputs from a linear curve to a logarithmic one. This gives me the benefit of having low sensitivity precision with low acceleration movements and the ability to do 180s with faster movements without having to go across my whole desk. If I were on controller, I would immediately search for a similar piece of software to reduce the deadzone size and be able to have a similar acceleration experience with more fine grain control. In my eyes, that would not be cheating as it would modify inputs by a constant set of formulas, similar to that of a change in sensitivity. Any software that goes beyond this limited scope of input manipulation would in my eyes be cheating. Any automation of inputs, macros or otherwise in my eyes is equally cheating. I really hope AI anticheat such as Waldo Vision is able to detect this sort of thing in the future.

Hey Cammy, you asked for some controller advice at the end of your video and I thought I’d provide some. For reference, I play on Xbox series x and have been a part of the Destiny community since Taken King with playing regularly for about 4-6 hours a day (changes depending on school).
I started out using a regular controller that came with the console and adjusted my sensitivity to 7 and kept it there for all of D1 and some of D2 until they introduced higher sensitivity options. At that point I went up to 14, played with it for a month and realized that was too much, then went down to 12 where it’s been and probably will remain. I don’t mess with any of the dead zone options or anything extra, just sensitivity and have my muscle memory trained to that specific turning ratio and it’s resulted in me feeling confident in all my gunfights because I’m so finely tuned with the speed at which I turn. This helps with knowing how far I need to turn in order to hit a flick, how far I need to turn to back slide away from my opponents, as well as how much I need to hold down on the thumb stick to keep my recoil steady. I don’t even know what dead zones mean or any of the extra jargain even though I’ve only been a console player for years.
As far as the controller I use I’ve found great success in the Elite series 2 controller because solely of the paddles. Being able to press a paddle on the back without having to quickly swap to claw then back again saves necessary time and has allowed me to do a lot of “tech” movements and inputs that gives me an upper hand. It’s still possible with a normal controller but requires a lot more moving my grip around constantly which has gotten me killed in some cases.
However, I don’t recommend the Elite Series 2 controller because while it’s very comfortable and has a ton of great settings at your disposal, I’ve found that they don’t last long at all for their price. I’ve had 2 elite controllers and both of them have had their problems after only a year of use, which for the price is ridiculous. I’m looking for a new controller with paddles that isn’t gonna break the bank since I’ve gotten so used to the paddles but I’m not in a rush. The regular Xbox controller has been working great for me.
Thanks if you actually read this and let me know if there’s any clarification needed or if you had any questions.

I agree with it not lasting long, but most physical stores (at least where I live) offer warranty. So I think its worth it but I understand your issues with it.

To answer your final question, Cammy: I've been a console only gamer my whole life and have been playing destiny pvp since 2014 when I was only 11. I'm a good pvp player, not the best of the best like yourself, but definitely in the top 1%. Since D2's launch, I have always solely used an Xbox elite controller, having bought multiple v1s and then the v2 because they break so easily. I use the right paddle to jump and the left paddle to crouch. I have also customized the dead zones in the Xbox controller app. I run 15 sens with 0.8 multiplier, but I do switch it up occasionally. I had no idea that cheating on console was so widespread until the videos from you and Aztecross. Hope my comment can be of some help to you. I love your videos and have been watching you since I was a little kid, and now I'm in college. Keep up the fantastic work.

Hey Cam! Controller recommendations: I heard this one loud and clear. I used to have the same issue you felt when I was playing on my ps4. Once I switched to a ps5 I felt like I at least wasn’t held back by my hardware and I really got down to the nitty gritty of my settings. I used to run max sense all the time and I’m not a hyper aggressive HC/shotty player. I dialed that back to 15 sense and 1.5 still on the ADS modifier. The controller itself is the ps5 dualsense edge with a tall ControlFreak on the right stick to give me fine control over my aim. While the shape still leaves something to be desired(I have arthritis in my hands so the “shriveled grip” is still kind of uncomfortable) it’s miles better than the old ps4 dualsense. This has the added benefit of giving me paddles so I’m not constantly taking my fingers off my aiming stick to jump and/or crouch. I have the jump bound to left paddle and hard toggle crouch bound to right paddle with hold crouch also bound to L3(This lets me crackhead slide in pvp). I also have interact bound to right paddle which lets me still freely aim and shoot back while crouching and reviving in PvP. I have mostly default button binds except I have my unpowered melee bound to R3 and powered bound to R1 so I can pick and choose which one I use when. I have finisher bound to L3/R3 combo so I’m not doing it accidentally in PvE. This is the most comfortable setup I’ve found for running PvP without the game feeling like aiming through molasses or feeling too loose and uncontrollable on the opposite end. The only drawbacks is adjusting to the new button positions and I had to do some weird rebinds in the ps5 edge custom button layouts to make space for button combos. A funny side effect is that sometimes I emote instead of reloading. lol I fixed that by changing the emote time to be long hold and reload to be short press. Thankfully special reloads always seem to take priority(like Izanagi) because they’re also long press. Hope this helps bro!

For the non-fgc folks here, it's almost like a modern art thing where anklegator is trying to explore the limits of what's legal on a controller, and they do actually play on it--the layout is trying to achieve something similar to macros, where certain difficult button combinations (kara Potemkin Buster being the one I remember) are made easier by just running your finger across a row of buttons.

Some more reasons why the Xim and Cronus are getting more popular is the games themselves. The live-service game is by far the most popular genre these devices are used in because these games have been out for years. Fortnite, Destiny 2, Overwatch, Rainbow Six Siege, Rust, CoD have all been out for 4+ years.
When a game is out that long:
-The audience grows immensely (if it’s successful). That will just naturally bring in more cheaters. It will also create content creators (who then might have a monetary incentive to cheat in this way).
-If the game is competitive in any way (intentional or not). People will chase the highest rank by whatever means they deem “necessary”.
-Player skill will plateau at some point, and some players want to be better immediately without facing the diminishing returns that come from playing more or dedicating actual time and thought into learning something super obscure. The idea of delayed gratification is lost when a player joins a game late.
-If a new player goes into these games this late, they will get completely destroyed by veterans. When this happens, the player has choices: hope SBMM takes the wheel and protects them, tough it out and learn the game through facing (and likely losing to) better players, or buy and use the shortcut of a Xim/Cronus to “catchup” to veteran players with artificial combos/techs or aim.
-Xim/Cronus users have the time to develop increasingly more effective settings through finding the niche details of the game to optimize scripts and aim assist. This can create more Xim/Cronus users who do the same because of how much the scripts help.
-Elitism for cross play games. When cross play is a feature for these games, the community separates naturally into the platforms: Console/PC ; Xbox/Playstation ; PC/Xbox/Playstation. The difference between the inputs or features of each group leads to the group that loses feeling like the other had an advantage. People have different responses to feeling this way (reporting, trash talking, crying in social media, etc…). If it’s the MnK group that loses, some will resort to hard cheats (and they’ll get banned eventually). More dangerous is the console group. If they feel this way, you better believe that some will buy a Xim or Cronus, and that these people won’t get banned.
Xim and Cronus have been around much longer than anyone realizes, but it’s the 10-year games that have made them an increasingly prevalent issue. Now that the devices are so popular and haven’t been dealt with at all (though Sony might have temporarily dented Cronus use, a workaround will probably show up soon), similar programs are showing up in games on launch. The Finals faced the ReWASD issue when it wasn’t even out for 2 months.
For how Destiny 2 feels on controller, but more specifically Console. It feels terrible. 10 years of Destiny, and console users’ only way to change their aim is still limited sensitivity options. This is bad enough, but the absolute worst thing is that the crosshair on console platforms is not in the center of the screen, it’s significantly below center. On PC, this setting can be changed. On console, the original platform Destiny started on, it cannot. I play on 5 sens with 1.0 ads modifier on my Ps5 because that was my default (so what I played on) since Destiny 1, so I know what my aim can and cannot do. I guess the Destiny console philosophy is don’t fix issues for the group who can’t be heard because the only changes that were notable for consoles were button remapping, sprint-turn scale, sens options going from 10 to 20 (this is the only console specific one IIRC).

There’s a ton of stick deadzone settings and button deadzone settings I haven’t used because this is the first time I’ve ever used a controller with paddles-just using default D2 sens (12 and 0.5). i've never had an issue with playing against "ximmers" because from an improver mentality having perfect level aim is to be expected, if everyone has perfect aim then there would be other things to focus on such as positioning, timing, resource management etc.. and it's the same thing in fighting games. players with good execution will make you hate the character they're using and it shifts the game's meta into a poking meta, in the case of destiny 2 there are so many legitimate degenerate strategies that they might as well be considered cheating because they are so infuriating to deal with and adding a crouch spamming immortal smg invis hunter to the mix is only adding more fuel to a fire you can't extinguish. not trying to defend people who use xim but what bothers me more than them are the people constantly crying about them as if they're the devil of some sort.

I use a basic PS5 controller on console. Back when I used to main shadebinder I got tired of whiffing my charged melee when wanting to uncharge after a shotgun shot so I keep charged on R1 uncharged on R3. With strand I also changed my my interact button to L2 to quickly grab a tangle after a melee grapple kill, and shoot while reviving. Tougher to pull heavy and die to randomly grabbing a tangle above me when trying to aim but it’s helped me have more semblance of choice 🤷🏼 lol

Good Video Cammy. I play on a PS5 with a Dualsense Edge controller. We have those settings in the Edge controller settings on the console itself and we can have multiple configs for different games. It's basically the same thing you just got with your new Xbox controller you were testing and configuring on stream.
Only thing is that the Dualsense Edge doesn't have Hal-Effect sticks available for it yet, but at least the sticks themselves are modular and easily replaced. Admittedly been years since I've played any FPS/TPS games on PC(MnK back in the mid-2000s), but I hope this info helps.

2 words cammy, Razer. Wolverine. God's gift to controllers. Its got all the config controls you would want, the buttons are both tactile and more responsive than other controllers. it has trigger stops, 4 paddles and 2 additional buttons between the triggers and the bumpers. and it is miles more durable than an elite controller, mine lasted 2 years before any drift/response issues

As someone who play a lot of fps games. My overall skill when up by ~30% when I swapped to a new gen, and even more by buying kontrolfreeks. I also bought a powerA controller with two back paddles. Before that I had a old gen with an elite series controller and I was noticably worse during that. The setting I use as an Xbox player is: 20 look sens, .7 ads modifier, max turn scale, and I have custom binds as follows: alternate weapon on double tap X, super on left D-pad, charged melee on right stock in, uncharged on right bumper, hold crouch on press B, both hunter and titan ability on hold B, warlock on double tap since I use Phoenix dive, and press right on D-pad to pull out my heavy. My two paddles are A (jump) on the left and B (crouch) on the right.

Glad you talked about steaminput. It's such a great feature that lets me play indie shmups that a) dont have great native controller remapping support and/or b) might need autofire to avoid RSI. In a single player game that's really handy, but clearly any sufficiently powerful feature can be misused.

I just use my base PS5 controller. I prefer to leave the settings as is due to how limited customization in on the controllers half. I typically pair this with higher sensitivity to help myself keep up with PC players as I find the slow turn speed to be a huge detriment.
One major note that I will add is that some controllers will have different calibrations for how fast you can look around/move due to how the controller was built. My preferred controller has a looser look stick that allows me to turn faster than my other controllers due to the resistance not being as strong in comparison to others. I don’t personally feel like spending an arm and a leg on a “better” controller when I have one that just works.
If you want a good controller, make sure that it’s feel fits the way you want to play. If you have a majority of your actions bound to buttons: make sure the buttons feel right. If you like to flick: pick a controller that has less resistance and a smaller dead zone. I’m nothing special with my controller selection, but that’s my perspective on this.
Edit: I am a GL main on console, so I’m biased towards having an easier time looking around, but everything else I said prior stands as is. 16 Sens, 1.8x multiplier (Could be higher.), max turn scale radius bump.

Playstation player here to chime in with my settings.
    Base PS5 controller.
    Default movement and button controls
Look Sens 10, ADS Sens 0.8
    Sprint-Turn 0.8
    Double Press Delay 1
    120Hz Crucible Mode on
    FoV 105
Motion Blur, Chromatic Aberration, and Film Grain off
    Other configs are default.
At some point, I do want to take advantage of changing my inputs for charged vs uncharged melee so they aren't mapped together, but that'll take some getting used to. Basically, my settings are almost completely vanilla, and I still put in an average 1.5 K/D even with "bad" loadouts. You're speaking my language when it comes to Bungie giving us better control over or stick sensitivity and other configs, I just hope they listen and implement it soon.

I use the Victrix Gambit Pro on Xbox. I use four back buttons which are tuned to A (Class ability) , B (Hold to Crouch) , X (Reload - great for bow cancel) , Y (weapon swap) so I don't have to take my thumbs off my sticks. This controller comes with comes with adjustable trigger stops and I have mine on the shortest (?) setting so the that trigger press is as shallow as possible. LB is tied to jump, RB grenade and RS is melee. I have Kontrol freak on RS and I play on 10 sens which is enough to 180 during a stompees/dunes slide and have 0.8 ADS multiplier. My sprint turn is the highest possible. I use the full auto setting for most guns except hand cannons

Quick clarification, not a pvp fan but definitely a pve sweat. I use an elite series 2 controller with tweaked stick input recognition in the Xbox settings themselves. The series 2 gives you shorter trigger pulls and you can tension the sticks down when you pop off the joysticks (which I tighten for more precision). 15 sense with max 105fov and my paddles are all the face buttons (A,B,X,Y) so I never take my thumb away from aiming. Never used the gray area cheatsy shit, never will. With this combination I play better than 99% of the LFG players I come across, MnK included. The only major downside to series 2 is that they definitely have a short expiration date on peak performance, as they begin to wear and lose stick tension after about 3 months

Haven't even played destiny in a couple years, but I still love your content. This video resonates with me on a separate level due to the parallels with the cheating issues in my new main girl, Tarkov. Of course there's huge differences, and of course, every game will have its cheaters, but I truly agree that swift, decisive action on the part of developers could mitigate the issues to a much greater degree than seems to be the case. Hopefully you find a way to reach your full potential on controller, and I'd love to see you in Tarkov.

Very interesting video. I am not well versed in the whole device thing other than just knowing their names and what they do, but I have to admit, as a top player, it is frustrating to have to worry if the player was just better than me, if I made a bad play, or does he just have an advantage that was impossible to overcome anyways. With al that aside, I do have controller settings that have made Destiny 2 feel less sluggosh coming from a default ps5 controller to the pro. In fact, I honestly think to play at the highest skill level, it becomes necessary. Here are my settings:
    Dualsense Edge:
Button Assignments - O and R3 are remapped, Left back paddle is X, Right back paddle is Sqaure
Stick Sense/Deadzones - Left stick digital curve with -4 curve adjustment and 0% dz adjustment, Right stick quick curve with -4 curve adjustment and 0% dz adjustment
(I don't know if these setting clash with the default curve and deadzones of Destiny 2 unfornately but they definitely help me feel quicker. The only time you have to take your thumb off the joystick is to quickly switch weapons, but buttons optimized for jumping, crouching, sliding, and interaction with environment. )
    Destiny 2 Settings:
    Default Movement Controls
Button Layout: Auto Melee is R1, uncharged melee is R3 (to avoid conflict with throwable melees and strand grappling), finisher is down and right on dpad, inspect player is down and left on player, everything else is default
    Look Sensitivity - 16
    ADS Sens - 1.0
    Sprint - Turn Scale - 0.8
    Double Press Delay - 1
No Vibration settings for anything (the tingle makes my hand feels wierd)
Not trying to promote my video in your comments or anything but I am posting a controller setting video tomorrow as well, I am posting a controller settings video tomorrow, I am a smaller channel as well. Hope this helps you cammy and great video as always!

I use a Dualsense Edge on PS5 and I enjoy it a lot. It allows me to map my jump and charged melee buttons to paddles to make it a little less awkward to aim/ crouch and jump at the same time, as well as separating my melees into 2 seperate inputs. It doesn’t add new inputs, only allows you to map an existing input to a paddle. This combined with being able to adjust aim response curve as well as deadzones make it worth the price to me. That and if you end up with stick drift you can swap out the analog stick module instead of buying a whole new controller

I'm a controller player who wasn't the best but definitely above average, I recently moved to pc in October and mainly made the switch because of xims/Cronus. I had a 3kd in the seasons I played the most and have around 20 or so flawless runs. I'm also an ex top 500 player on overwatch so I feel like I know what I'm talking about when it comes to controller.
So when it comes to controller on destiny 2, I completely agree with the game feeling terrible. Especially compared to other games I have played like overwatch and siege.
The main way I've gotten around it is having an elite series 2 controller because you can change the tension on the thumb sticks with the tool you get with the controller, I have made them as loose as possible so it requires very little force to move the thumb stick, which in practice makes it feel like you have a lower dead zone. It's not perfect, but it's the closest you could get without any of these modded controllers.
My sens on destiny is 16 with ads modifier of 0.9 and I have 4 paddles that I use for dodge jump melee and interact. I have my dodge set to left on the d-pad and melee set to up on the d-pad, then I have back buttons bound to these respectively. The reason I do this is so I can have an uncharged and a charge melee bindings (charged melee being default) on controller and to be able to have my dodge separated from my crouch button so I can dodge instantly without needing to spam a button.
I hope this helps you on getting better on controller, it's been awesome to watch.

Would love to hear your opinion on this one. The only "cheat" I ever used in D2 was at the time when sbmm made the network stability so terrible I used a router at which you could limit the distance between you the server and other players. So as an European I made sure I was only playing with other people from Europe and connections were way better for everyone in my lobby's but you could also argue I manipulated matchmaking to ignore sbmm.

Controller settings are weird, in my opinion. Cuz like you said, it’s hard to make certain things viable in the current sandbox.
I use a regular PDP afterglow completely stock, even though it comes with a mapping software.
The paddles mesh in nicely with the controller, making it feel like a decided action to press, rather than a miss input from clenching during combat.
Having X on one paddle allows me to revive while being able to shoot, and B on the other so I can approach corners at a faster speed to not get laser’d by an SMG toting Titan or a player in the back of the map with a sniper.
I had I raise my sensitivity (begrudgingly) to be able to consistently track fast moving opponents, while keeping the zoom sense at a .5 to make those precision shots more viable.
I’m by no means an incredible player, but as a casual in the high tier pool with people like Aztec, Jake, Terror and Wallah, I can say it helps for damned sure.

I’m console for D2, mainly on Xbox Series X but dabble on PS5 here and there too. The controller I use on Xbox is the Wolverine Chroma V2. It has four paddles down the back middle of the controller and two buttons between the bumpers/triggers. I know Razer has an app on Xbox (forgot what it’s called), but you can remap the buttons, paddles, adjust the chroma and I know there is another function on there that I believe is called focus. From what I remember, you basically can assign an input that after it is pressed it will slow down your aiming or at least make your movement a little more intentional. From what I understood, it seemed like it was meant for ADS in FPS games but I could be completely wrong because I don’t use it. I think my settings on D2 itself are set at 7 for sensitivity and button layout is set to puppeteer. As for PS5, I rarely play on there but use the pro controller Sony made for PS5 and it’s alright. It has two paddles on the back that you can swap out similar to the Elite on Xbox, but the battery life is abysmal. I would definitely recommend the Razer Wolverine line though, I got the Wolverine TE a few years back and have stuck with the line and new updated models ever since. The paddle layout for the most part is good and the two buttons in between the bumpers are a game changer. I have jump, crouch, reload and weapon swap all assigned to paddles so my thumbs never leave the sticks. Would recommend that if you’re looking for a good controller, but not sure how much it will help with how D2 feels on console lol. I’m not a pc player and not good at MnK on console games that support it so I’m not too great at knowing the difference. Hope this kinda helped provide some insight!

I have the PlayStation back paddle roller. It allows for customization of dead zones and programming the back paddles. In Destiny, I run 20 sens (max) with a 0.8 ads multiplier to slow down the heat of 20 sens. It’s confirmation to hear you talk about the approximate 20 dead zone for Destiny because I’ve always felt it in hindsight. That’s what the max sens is for. Sensitivity patterns(s curve, linear, etc.) also help with higher sens but I’m not as experienced with that. All other setting are default to my knowledge. The back paddle for my left hand is jump and my right hand is crouch. Also, I’ve done the settings bug where when you bind toggle crouch and hold crouch to the same button(circle, also my right hand back paddle) it creates a visual effect that is jittery and almost like a hyper bag. It requires constant strafing but I do that anyways. Crouch bagging while shooting and strafing isn’t really in my skill tree and I rarely do it. (It’s more for aggressively bagging toxic people lmao) My two accounts are TugboatTheBoat#4149 and TugboatTADpole#9684. Tadpole was the d1 account I shared with my siblings way back and boat is my individual. (Just recently leveled up the tadpole one a few seasons back) hope this helps :)

Fantastic video. I played competitive FPS in the early to mid 2000's (just over a decade) on MnK and you grow to feel where great players are, and where the unbelievable players are that give you the heebie jeebies, and then those you just outright know are cheating. Switching to controller, and controller based FPS, I know I lack the absolute fine control and speed of a MnK - to the point where it is simply not possible, aim assist or not, for there to be a level playing field without some extreme magnetic bullet type logic going on (which is a very Destiny thing, but I have my suspicions on COD and others also). So to have players, ostensibly on controller, absolutely ruining lobbies means two things to me. 1. the controller lobbies are natively a lower skill set than MnK ever where, bots are bottier, controller inputs are naturally more restrictive and exploitable (i.e. a player running a better combo of sensitivity has a 10-20% boost just by default of being properly configured) and 2. the benefits of using a controller are somehow boosted beyond MnK's core functionality beyond "aim assist" slow down.
I've played D1 and D2 multiplayer with controller and while I won't pretend to be amazing the feeling of heebie jeebies is consistent, game after game, after game. See the same slide shot shotgun? Rapid charge Fusion rifles? SMG that cling to your every move? Hunters who dodge in miliseconds? Warlocks that float, and are able to track 180 faster than you can raise your reticule? Yeah - it's all scripts. It's all Scuf type paddles with pre-programmed moves. They don't have to take a thumb or finger away from their active buttons to do some input combo - they just hit a paddle to trigger the exact combo they need of pre-progammed actions.

The Dual Sense Edge controller was a huge difference on console. The settings that come standard in most FPS games these days are built in to the controller software on PS5. You can adjust deadzones, aim curve, curve type, and of course program the paddles. That all stays in the green area of the spectrum and it is a huge difference that makes D2 feel much better to play in my opinion.

I play on XSX and have used an elite 2 forever. On D2, I use the max sensitivity of 20 with a 0.7 ADS modifier and a 0.8 turn scale. For the controller I just have instant response curve and digital hair trigger input (I don’t use the physical trigger locks because the hardware is janky sometimes). I use all 4 paddles with each assigned to one of the face buttons: A,B,X,Y. I use my right stick click as my crouch/dive abilities/warlock rift/titan barricade and my B button as Icarus dash or as dodge on hunter.
The primary issues I face in PVP is trouble shotgun flicking up close and trouble aim adjusting airborne due to the fact that my sensitivity needs to be so high for better movement.

When I was on console and played a lot, controller felt good. But after going to PC, controller didn't feel great at all.
I used a razor wolverine controller with the back paddles being: M6- A M5-B. M3-X. M4-Y. I also played on 8 look sensitivity, maxed turn radius, and 1.4 zoom sensitivity. This made it honestly feel really good to use snipers, tracking weapons like smgs and autos, but did make scots a bit sluggish.
