the US medical system. Because in European countries she would have gotten her treatment from Day 1 and would get it until her death. And would only have to pay a maximum of 2% of her income per year as recompensation (which when you are unemployed and get social benefits would have been around 100 Euro in Germany) - if she wouldn't be 100% disabled (what she would be medically), then you pay 0% on all your medical bills. Really sad that it took becoming a big content creator to afford healthcare. Makes you think about all the people in similar situations that are still struggling like that. 😓
My mom got a similar condition as a side effect from beating cancer 10 years ago and just did a new treatment that boosted her immunity in a way we never saw before (we still don’t know if it’s temporary), I really hope the same can be done for her
difference is that in cancer cases it's a known side effect of chemo and radiation, plus several types of cancer also reduce white counts. you're just giving the body a little more time to get its immune system back in order to keep fighting. she has plenty of immune cells problem is that her B Cells are a bunch of slackers who aren't producing enough Immunoglobulin while I'm no immunologist, I believe this means that she has a perfectly workable primary immune response, but they basically lack the secondary response that lets us bring out our most powerful biological weapons.
I worked for a company that did the marketing for Who’s Who? So it’s absolutely insane to see Ironmouse of all people playing it. Devs were super nice so I’m glad to see their game get some exposure so long after release ❤️
It's crazy to think that if ever Ironmouse stopped streaming she'd probably literally die from it due to not being able to afford meds anymore. Crazy ass american healthcare system.
That's what happens if you have a rare disease with expensive treatments. Better hope your family is rich or that's the end. The way she described her condition before she started making money vtubing I don't think she's still be around without it.

Jurard always seems like such a good wholesome guy. But also, how can a person be part of the english vtubing scene and not know Mouse's backstory at this point, lol.
Not all vtubers are big vtuber fans. It's like any other industry, some people genuinely love it and keep up with all aspects of it and for others it's just an acting gig. Not to say it's a gig they don't enjoy but most actors aren't method and don't do that much research, they play their part and just try to enjoy it.
he could be new to the scene. he could also just not be that familiar with her - there's tons of vtubers out there at this point, ranging from jaiden (yes, that youtuber) to dokibird to kirsche to nimu (an es vtuber) to marine. and the fan bases of all five i just listed barely intersect at all despite all being massive.
@@timurdos Your perspective is limited by the bubble you live in. Think of how many tiktok influencers or streamers you've never heard of that pull larger numbers than any vtuber ever has. The vtuber scene is steadily growing but it is still very much a niche interest.
Every time I get happy about Mouse's quality of life improvements, I also get sad thinking about what happens once her parents cannot help her, or need someone else to take care of them. Or worse, how many people with CVD and similar diseases are strapped to bed barely getting by just waiting for something to change... for better or for worse. If it were up to me, everyone of those people should have the access to live a life _at least_ like Mouse, but sadly, not everyone can make it online, and there are very few, if any, avenues to earn money for people in this condition.

Now as an 18 yr old with chronic nausea and stomach pain, I do not wish for anyone to feel this pain. It is not cool- it is not fun, I had to get taken out of my last year of high school and am currently still isolated in my room. A mix of nausea and severe anxiety can really destroy you and your entire life in a blink of an eye. Please, I wish for the young kids to never want to be sick because you want attention, you will regret it in an instant.
I don't think it's medical malpractice, more like every doctor she saw didn't know enough about CVID to diagnose her. The Immune Deficiency Foundation is working to inform doctors about this. Also American healthcare is a scam, but you're a captive customer.
It's a little unfair calling it malpractice. I used work in a medical lab at a children's hospital and I knew extremely little about CVID and since learning more because of Mousey's existence it appears to be difficult to even discover in genetic testing since the mechanisms for can be caused from a lot of different and varied permutations. It is much easier to find today because we have a lot more computational power to do so then even 10 years ago. I do think that people being given less dosages then they need is very negligent but that's a corporate greed issue more than doctors poor practice.
CVID is very hard to diagnose. I don't think they are even certain what causes it. They THINK that it's genetic, but the don't know for sure, so there isn't a test or anything that can easily find it. And it's so rare, that it's like, the least likely possibility that most doctors MIGHT have heard of, but probably don't even know is a possible answer for sickness. So it's not malpractice. She's also be better if you could get access to healthcare without being rich, but that's a whole other issue.
I agree with the other replies. It was a genuine mistake to misdiagnose her back then. Even now, most doctors would not even have CVID in their list of possible illnesses due to its rarity alone. Connor would regularly say that a major part of the collected charity funds goes to informing doctors and specialists about the condition and to basically at least have it on the list. Nonetheless, it's great progress. Mousey has great progress on her condition over the years and it would also be nice to know that there are other Mousey's somewhere in the world that is improving alongside her. Not to mention those that would not suffer as much as her due to misdiagnosis.
Could you please put links on something in the descriptions so that I could find the vod on youtube or twitch and/or who is talking to ironmouse? Thank you! :)

I’m so happy that she’s getting better!, but they shouldn’t be essentially asking for massive payments just to keep her alive it’s disgusting-in Australia it’s impossible for me to imagine, LOVE YOU IRONMOUSE!
Mouse has come a long way. It's a travesty that the thing that most prevented her from living (semi) normally was cash. I hope she can now get the things she wants from life without holding herself back.
Medical care is not something one should be able to "afford". It should be free for everyone. society is wealthy enough to make it happen. Make the rich pay.
Plasma is hella expensive, more often plasma is not a worsening of the situation. That being said, can someone explain to me, isn't bone marrow transplant an option for her?
So is the root cause of her illness a bone marrow problem like her bone marrow doesn't produce immune cells or is it that her bone marrow produces defective immune cells?

Unfortunately she'll probably never be in remission unless some crazy medical breakthrough happens, but she can definitely improve a lot more.
@@acmenipponair aye, I know it’s an extremely long shot, one that most likely will never happen. But a fan can dream and continue to wish the best for her right?!
Have yourself an awesome day my friend, cheers and good health to you!
@@seaks368 one can only hope that she continues to improve, at least enough to let her live a bit more normally and perhaps even get a chance to see some of her friends irl. As for the little scenario I painted in my first post, I’m already pretty sure that won’t happen. It’s the positive sentiment behind such a scenario that I stand by.
Enjoy your weekend amigo!
Medically ineligible for plasma donation. I'm not a fan of it. Can't make money and also can't help keep Ironmouse alive.
Jurard is a person that speaks with honesty... very loudly. I wonder if he know that Kaela occasionally needs oxygen, I remember a laughing fit really provoked that bad one time. Iron Mouse is truly a marvel, she's inspiring to everyone in this industry.
Kovalskia? Crazy I didn't know that.
I don't know a lot though. XD
Maybe I misunderstood but isn't it just because of her silent laugh making her not breathe properly whenever she is laughing? Or does she have an actual lung condition?
@@ManoredRed I'm not entirely sure, I didn't watch enough of her streams to know, I just know she keeps oxygen handy just in case.
Wait, Kaela what?
@@Antluvstrains There was a clip I saw of her playing a funny game and she laughed so hard that she had to leave and when she came back she explained that she keeps oxygen nearby and had to go to her mother to get more because she was out of breath from laughing too much.
coincidentally there was also a huge breakthrough in treating various digestive system/spinal auto-immune conditions this week that may expand to offer new treatments for all auto-immune conditions.
Citation needed. No really, I haven't heard about this, and that sounds super awesome. Got any keywords to look up those new breakthroughs?
@@alexlowe2054 I read about it on the guardian, which posted about it on Wednesday this week. Look up 'bowel disease breakthrough as researchers make 'holy grail' discovery'.
@@alexlowe2054 i typed "autoimmune disease breakthrough" and found results. It seems to be what they were talking about. CAR T-cell therapy or something like that
Atleast give some sauce
@@richman2601 I did, it got deleted for being vaguely close to a link. It was on the guardian website, anyway.
I'm glad she is getting better also fuck the medical system
the US medical system. Our systems here are to make people live, not to kill them.
@@acmenipponair same in Australia
@@acmenipponair Europeans are also taxed significantly more, face delays in care, and similar to the US have a very wide difference on care depending on location. Also the size of the entire EU is less than half the size of the US not even considering the logistics that AK, HI, DR, PR, VI, three of which aren't even states but territories are separated by oceans. So while I agree with the overall premise that the US system is flawed, take your holier than x attitude out of it please.
@@Flight042 Per capita the US pays more than Europeans do. The US also has massive delays in care. The US doesn't have a wide difference in care based on location, it has a wide difference in care based on how rich you are. The US system is a ponzi scheme, and the only people who don't agree are those who haven't had to use it.
Yeah the medical care system in the US is designed to make the shareholders money not help you get better.
Imagine your grandma had a car accident, and it's this guy over the phone telling you, "WHOOOOA!!! YOU GOTTA COME PICK HER UP, MAAAAN!"
He encourages you to do the thing 😂
You can actually watch him saying that when he played and streamed Ollie's visual novel game
Love his enthusiasm for her improvements. And the way Mousey responds is just so kyuta.
She has made so much progress! Made so many friends.
She sounded very different a couple years to because she didn't talk much.
I'm so glad she got better it's such a big change from a couple years and that 1 clip that made me watch her where someone clipped her explaining her sickness and the 2000$ goal clip those 2 made me follow her they are very old tho.
I used to donate plasma twice a week for a couple of years before the place I was going to shut down that branch. I hope such things went to helping people like Ironmouse. :)
I've done too many drugs to dare donating anything, even though i want to :(
I didn’t know you could donate that frequently!!! I've wanted to donate blood or plasma for quite some time but the time I tried they turned me down because I was ~ slightly~ anemic then I got tattoos done and you have to wait for a year so I'm just waiting…
Really sad that it took becoming a big content creator to afford healthcare. Makes you think about all the people in similar situations that are still struggling like that. 😓
whenever jurard talks i just think how good his audio quality is. what kind of mixer does this man use
1:37 His reaction was my reaction over the past 3 years of watching her stream within a matter of minutes.
I flippin' love how hyped he is for her recovery and continual prgoress. And he just found out, too! Like, what a bro!
My mom got a similar condition as a side effect from beating cancer 10 years ago and just did a new treatment that boosted her immunity in a way we never saw before (we still don’t know if it’s temporary), I really hope the same can be done for her
Just wanted to say that your mom kicks fuckin' ass!
difference is that in cancer cases it's a known side effect of chemo and radiation, plus several types of cancer also reduce white counts.
you're just giving the body a little more time to get its immune system back in order to keep fighting.
she has plenty of immune cells
problem is that her B Cells are a bunch of slackers who aren't producing enough Immunoglobulin
while I'm no immunologist, I believe this means that she has a perfectly workable primary immune response, but they basically lack the secondary response that lets us bring out our most powerful biological weapons.
I admire Jurard’s energy. Very endearing.
That is GREAT to hear about Mouse's health improvements. I'm very proud of her. :)
I worked for a company that did the marketing for Who’s Who? So it’s absolutely insane to see Ironmouse of all people playing it. Devs were super nice so I’m glad to see their game get some exposure so long after release ❤️
Out of topic
Bruh do you really need to crop out his discord avatar?
Yeah it's weird he's not even tagged meanwhile Connor and other Vshojos are despite not being in the clip
It's crazy to think that if ever Ironmouse stopped streaming she'd probably literally die from it due to not being able to afford meds anymore. Crazy ass american healthcare system.
That's what happens if you have a rare disease with expensive treatments. Better hope your family is rich or that's the end. The way she described her condition before she started making money vtubing I don't think she's still be around without it.
yeah in another video of her talking about it she said those plasma transfusions she gets, because she needs a specific type, can cost upwards of $15,000 which just seems insane to me
@@amythistxue1 Unfortunately, blood banks are also privately owned in the US. Your blood you donate is also just another product that is sold for a massive markup. Note, there are non-profits like the Red Cross who aren't like that, but the vast majority of blood banks are privately owned.
fwiw being in the us with the money to pay for it is the ideal situation. even in europe she'd be facing long delays without private money, bc her rare disorder pretty much requires 1. specialists in extremely limited supply 2. equipment and meds that is often very uncommon to find and 3. regular blood plasma.
Interesting that my comment got removed. Guess we're not allowed to talk about how the health industry in the US is mainly for profit.
I present, the best way to ask someone about their medical condition, lol
I'm really happy for her progress and extremely glad for her community to be able to support ironmouse in her journey. Being able to afford medical bills without any problems allows you to be more free on doing more stuffs in life.
Damn, a friend has a similar condition that doesn't allow her to move much or get out of her house and that makes me cry, hope both are able to get a little better, at least to get out
😢 I'm so proud of Ironmouse, I wish she was my therapist. I need encouraging words like that, just for a mental and morale boost.
this guys energy is contagious lmao
That's Jurard T. Rexford for ya! Dude's got big voice, big personality, but how can one man be so endearingly *stupid*?
That’s our Jurard, it’s a shame his streaming hours for me is 3am, when I don’t need energy
Who is the guy shes talking to he's adorably honest and straightforward with his excitement he's like a puppy 😊 what a good lad just being genuinely curious about mouse and happy for her progress
Jurard from holostars
Glad she's growing stronger every day!! Also why'd you cut the bro out 😭 To anyone wondering, the other guy is Jurard T Rexford of Holostars EN.
If you're new to him you might find him loud and annoying, but he really is a nice dude once you listen to him yap 😂
What really is sad is how she says "now i can afford health care and now i get treatment on time" like ughh
it hurts my soul, she may not even have gotten this sick if she had access to the best possible care from day one
even that is clearly a dream for many (as im also chronically sick) but the idea of not getting treatment to live decently / no healthcare is so saddening
im glad she can afford it now though of course
I remember when ironmouse first said she was bedridden. Im so happy for her that the progress has come this far
Bruh this guy is the most hype dude alive.
Im soo happy for our gremolin
Finally someone credited me properly for the art in the thumbnail! Thank you so much for that.
"I used to not be able to afford it" fkin hell. well glad she can now.
It’s crazy how she had to jump through all these hurdles every day but is still arguably one of the most successful vtubers out there
It's crazy to me that Mouse can do so much stuff even when she's so sick she can't even sit up. Where does she find the energy to stream and do all the other things she does? I couldn't do that! And extra definitely not if I was sick, and the level of 'sick' I get is a long long way from what she's going through. Ironmouse is such a good name for her, because she sure is tough.
My brain is in a constant struggle. I constantly feel like she's talking to markiplier for some reason xD
Given that he's Pinoy and only just got into the scene he just might not have seen her.
he could be new to the scene. he could also just not be that familiar with her - there's tons of vtubers out there at this point, ranging from jaiden (yes, that youtuber) to dokibird to kirsche to nimu (an es vtuber) to marine. and the fan bases of all five i just listed barely intersect at all despite all being massive.
@@dead-claudia not knowing about mouse is like not knowing about pewdiepie at this point.
@@timurdos Your perspective is limited by the bubble you live in. Think of how many tiktok influencers or streamers you've never heard of that pull larger numbers than any vtuber ever has. The vtuber scene is steadily growing but it is still very much a niche interest.
2:07 I wonder how many people started donating blood/plasma because of iron mouse
So, she's getting better *because* she is getting plasma donos more often.
I like the way he talks to her
0:57 Literally Tali from Mass Effect's situation.
Kinda the opposite really. Tali’s problem is with an overactive immune system response. Mouse’s immune system just doesn’t work.
@@KBzaztbf the end result is the same - can't be around literally anyone without special treatment
@@KBzazIn @mitchellalexander9162’s defense, she does literally say something to the effect of “Living in the hyper-sterile environment of the flotilla means we have hyper-weakened immune systems, even a minor wound could become life threatening” and Kal’Reegar tells us when his suit is breached that he’ll be okay because he’s “swimming in antibiotics.” Both of these would suggest an under active or very weak immune system, while getting a fever from everything would suggest an overly active and sensitive immune system. So the game contradicts itself between some of what it shows and tells us and other parts of what it shows and tells us.
(Not saying this to like, prove you wrong or anything, I just happen to be a huge mass effect fan who happened to see a Mass Effect post in the wild and like to ramble ^_^)
[Edit because autocorrect changed under active to interactive]
“But you don’t look/sound/act disabled!”
Ah yes here it is again. My favourite response to explaining I’m disabled/chronically ill to people. Invisible illnesses are funny like that because I look “normal” so when I tell people it’s like I can literally hear the cognitive dissonance when they look at me. Like “but but this doesn’t look like a disabled person *gears turning. I thought disabled people were supposed to have missing body parts, or be mentally impaired or bat shit insane, this can’t be right.” Most people don’t have any ill will, these interactions range from funny to frustrating depending on the person. Because some people say it like in surprise like “Oh I would have never guessed” and others say it like “But you aren’t like actually really disabled right?” like you are lying about your condition or being dramatic.
Mouse’s story of perseverance is inspiring and it makes me happy that she’s doing good and having fun.
Goddam, I'm actually a plasma donor! No chance that my blood juice gets from Ukraine to Mouse tho(
well i cried over a random internet person i've never watched or knew the backstory of or had any connection to
She is literally a quarian from Mass Effect.
I remember as a perfectly healthy kid, I would wish something bad would happen to me because I wanted the attention for it.
Seems her health would be a lot better if not for medical malpractice.
The real villain is American for-profit healthcare.
Thank you! :)
That would be nice of them to do.

I donate plasma twice a week, and even if my plasma isn't going to Mousey, I know it's going to someone who needs it. I know I'm still helping people in need and that's what truly matters to me
I have a better question how did she manage to stream while laying down in bed down? Did she have a giant TV literally screwed into her ceiling or something like how did that work?
Wireless mouse / keyboard and desk near bed most likely
Lotta love to mousey.. This game had me laughing.. I just love the way, their feet move.. CLUNK CLUNK 🤣🤣Reminds me I must phone my sister 🤣🤣CLUNK CLUNK.
Everyday she gets better is another day we finally get to see her at an expo live and in person.
I'm a firm believer that man will never make it to Mars until we can get Ironmouse to a convention.
I don’t know who this man is, but I appreciate that he immediately hyped her up and protected her. 10/10.
Whoever this is, kinda sounds like Markiplier
Oh no... Ironmouse is gaining strength 👀
Vampires: “But… it’s mine finest vintage…. Here! Take it”!😭 *gives Ironmouse bottles of plasma*
The dude is so anoying, stop screaming god
Mousey has inspired me to look into donating plasma, I gotta fix my iron deficiency first though!
Didn't Jake Gyllenhaal make a movie about a person with this condition? "Bubble Boy" I think. He made a bubble-suit to go outside and keep himself protected while he looked for some strange.
I have no idea who the guy is but him screaming "NANI" after hearing a person has a disability is so cringe LMAO. I understand keeping things fun on stream but damn he sounds so annoying and loud.
Ok Squidward
Her medical condition is horrible, I don't know how she does it, she's basically a glass lady, just entering an environment that hasn't been decontaminated can cause severe harm or worse.
As a fellow streamer and content creator who was also very sick and almost died lost the ability to walk etc I feel this in my soul. Also I am so happy for you mouse I hope you continue to progress and heal
This gerard guy sounds so much like Markiplier 🤣
I’m so happy that she’s getting better!, but they shouldn’t be essentially asking for massive payments just to keep her alive it’s disgusting-in Australia it’s impossible for me to imagine, LOVE YOU IRONMOUSE!
Mouse has come a long way. It's a travesty that the thing that most prevented her from living (semi) normally was cash. I hope she can now get the things she wants from life without holding herself back.
she's getting, more powerful!
wrf are there npc ass reactions 💀💀
Now knowing her condition, it kinda gives a more complete meaning of what "Ironmouse" means.
Makes me feel good about my donations, apparently my blood/platelets are highly sought after for immunocompromised patients.
Take all my plasma. I have too much of it anyways
Medical care is not something one should be able to "afford". It should be free for everyone. society is wealthy enough to make it happen. Make the rich pay.
It is amazing she’s making progress. She’s such a trooper.
I cant wait till she get well enough to meet Conner CDawg!!
I'm planning on donating again this weekend.
Always hoping to help people like our mouse.
Plasma is hella expensive, more often plasma is not a worsening of the situation.
That being said, can someone explain to me, isn't bone marrow transplant an option for her?
Love this guys positivity to mousey
Aight folks, time to set up a donation program where we all donate plasma to Mousey.
You can donate platelets and plasma through places like the red cross or biolife plasma centers.
So is the root cause of her illness a bone marrow problem like her bone marrow doesn't produce immune cells or is it that her bone marrow produces defective immune cells?
That Vtuber anime that came out sucked, so I hope if anyone ever wants to try again they get in touch with mouse and make one based on her. Her story is so inspiring and more people need to hear it.
Yeah
Its more of Idol anime than Vtuber anime
i believe her, and i don't want to sound insensitive here.. is there any proof? she knows a lot about it and like i said i believe her. are there any pictures of her? or documents or anything? i'm just curious for more information, and i wish her the best
Connor (cdawgva) is a close friend of hers and has actually seen irl mouse. He also talks about her condition and probably vouches for her
What, you want a total stranger to dox themselves and divulge their private medical records to you?
I'm glad things are getting better - still remember the donation drive just to get a better workspace a few years ago, fucked me up then, and hearing this makes me happy :3
I love hearing people's reactions to Mousey's story
Go go mousey go go sayton
This is genuinely so sad. I'm not a Vtuber watcher, but I'm Happy Iron Mouse is doing better. ❤❤❤
Can we all just take a moment to appreciate that even with a fairly extreme disability people like her can still be functioning members of society and even contribute to society, like 20yrs ago this was unheard of
Jurard is the epitome of funny=loud. Zoomer humor 👎
I met a woman whos 4'11 at work today. She was also latina. I was like i offically have a visual idea of mousey.
