Come on a virtual tour with me around Copenhagen’s Glyptotek Museum (also known as Ny Carlsberg Glyptoteket). Built in 1897 as a result of Carlsberg beer founder Carl Jacobsen’s astounding overflowing ancient statue collection.
If you’re in Copenhagen on a budget, this is a GREAT place to go on Tuesdays - because entry is completely free! Who said Copenhagen is expensive?! Otherwise tickets cost 115 Danish Kroner per person, which - in my opinion - is still not a bad price based on the amount of beautiful art packed in here. I’d estimate it takes around an hour to go through the museum - slightly longer if you add on any of the special exhibits (which you pay extra for).
Definitely add this famous Copenhagen attraction on your "must see Copenhagen" list; even if you don't go on the free Tuesday, it's WELL worth the ticket price. Housing many important Danish golden age paintings, it's a hugely important look into Copenhagen culture and history.

Need inspiration for something free to do in Copenhagen? Look no further! Come peek inside the museum founded by the Carlsberg beer founder, right in the center of Copenhagen! ❤️
Yes, I have been there.
In addition to Greek, Roman and Egytian statues, Glyptoteket has the best collection of Etruscan art outside Italy.
Excellent well done, as a Dane living in Philadelphia it’s great revisiting this beautiful place.
Oh wow, long way from home! Let me know if there's anywhere else you miss, I'll try to go there for a video 😊
so happy to be here, the The Glyptotek Museum looks so beautiful, first time I heard about it 👍

Great virtual tour, New Sub +🔔,Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪.
I’ve been to Glyptoteket four or five times, but want to go back soon. I prefer it on a sunny day when light spills in through the windows. I usually spend two or three hours with a camera in hand.
Made me miss the days when Statens Museum for Kunst had free entrance on wednesdays. I haven't been to a museum in years and despite living 18 years in Copenhagen I've never visited Glyptoteket.
Oh no, they don't do their free Wednesdays anymore?? Damn that must be a relatively new thing then? Thanks for letting me know 😩 Definitely give Glyptoteket a visit if you get a chance, it's such a nice spot to wander and never gets too crowded either even on the Tuesdays. Thanks for watching & commenting! ❤️
@@ErininCopenhagen No I'm pretty sure it was only for a few years that all public museums had a free entrance day once a week and it got stopped again. Which is a shame. Statens Museum for Kunst is a really nice museum so it's a shame it's not free once a week anymore (kids get in for free though and adults with kids get 20 kr off the ticket price).
Great videos Erin. Excited to be a new subscriber!
Thank you so much!! Following back 😊
