I think it’s neat how the dialog changes for the buisel quest depending on how big they are he calls the 4’2 alpha a parent while he refers to a 2’8 as an older sibling.
Yeah, I've noticed that a lot of quests that involve you giving your Pokemon away will have different dialogue if you give them an alpha, such as the quests that unlock the three additional fields on the farm.
You know, I spent like 30 minutes doing Stun Spore on a magikarp with agile style to get it to research 8 (I thought there was a glitch that I didn't get petal dance)
Ok, the fact that it seems like cherubi only spawns in the one tree is reminiscent of a bad mechanic from D/P/P where only certain honey trees could spawn certain Pokémon.
There's also a severe bug that if Cherrim changes form, it becomes completely unable to be caught. I bring this up because it's easier to either ensure that you catch it at night, or just catch it as a Cherubi.
The Abra line is one of my favorites. I immediately caught one and raised it to a Kadabra. Then I saw this video and decided that I’d like to get an Alpha Abra, so after work I went home and my very first encounter was a shiny Alpha Abra! I got so excited that I tried to battle it right away and it teleported!! Luckily the game didn’t auto save right there so I was able to restart, turn off auto save, and I’m now the proud owner of a Shiny Alpha Abra 🥰✨
I've logged 47 hours and still haven't seen a single cherubi or cherrim. To be fair I haven't been trying for it the entire 47 hours, but every time I see a shaking tree in the Heartwood I jack it with a pokemon. Still nothing, and the tree that seems to work for you AustinJohnPlays has never once been shaking for me. I feel like there's some weird code logic going on in the background of this game that prevents certain rando events from happening, like the lost satchels have also stopped spawning for me even after re-zoning many times into different areas even, and I haven't seen a time-space rift in real world days of time
@@MGoBirch I caught a cherubi in the lonely spring in coronet mountains. I’ve never seen this try shake that Austin used. EVER! lonely spring it’s pretty much guaranteed you’ll find cherubi or cherrim.

I must've gotten really lucky with my first buizel being 2'8" lol I'm glad I didn't get stuck with that one. But the cherubi one now that's a different story lol
From what I understand, the Cherrim bug means that it's impossible to catch Cherrim during the day, regardless of what tree you found it in. You can only catch them at night (the Bloom form has a bugged 0 Catch rate). I could be wrong, but that's what I was told recently.
For request 10, you actually need both evolved forms of Wurmple in order to trigger the quest. Simply seeing Beauregard's Wurmple evolve is not enough. You need to evolve 2 Wurmples of your own.
I was running around earlier and saw an alpha drapion, so I went to go engage him and didn’t realize he was next to 2 alpha murkrows and 1 regular murkrow…. That was rough but I managed to get all of them caught! Was pretty efficient haha
I had a similar instance in a distortion, wanted a "old" Sneasel and ended up in a fight with that, a Sylveon and two Haunter, and I was woefully under leveled lol. Somehow every ball caught everything
So for those still having trouble with the buizel quest. I read somewhere that if you complete the 7 big sized research quest, you'll be able to get 2'8 ones. I completed it & sure enough got one straight after.
It’s funny I didn’t realize how hard this challenge was. I just caught three Buisel before I did the challenge and one happened to be big. Had no idea it was a struggle

Not sure if any of you guys remember this, but Request no. 10 could be a reference to that instance in the Gen 3 anime where both Jessie and May caught a Wurmple that eventually branched out in their on final evos. May evolved into Silcoon and Jessie evolved into Cascoon but Jessie thought she will also get a Beautifly even though the fact was pointed out later that what she got was a Cascoon. Later she found out the truth when she ended up with Dustox. She was devastated for a short bit but later embraced Dustox as her Pokemon.
I accidentally sniped an alpha buizel with a wing ball, just threw him at the guy wanting one after never catching a 2'8" one 😂 The cherrim one is still driving me bonkers
Thanks for the tutorial! I've been running around forever trying to find a Cherrim for that one request 😭 The side quests are so much fun to do and it prolongs playing the main story so I can enjoy the game a bit longer than I usually do (I usually finish the entire game 3-4 days then get bored) and "Excuse me, sir, may I speak to you about our lord and savior Sinnoh?" had me cracking up 😂
I wasn't aware the buizel quest was causing so many troubles for people, I literally gave him the 2nd ever buizel i caught. As for the Cherubi/Cherrim thing, I literally got cherrim before i ever got cherubi. Got cherrim to spawn at the Highlands. Cherubi legit took me like 2 hours to finally spawn, i was starting to question its existence.
That tree that always gives you a Cherubi is the tree that gave me the one wild Cherrim I've ever seen, and I fell victim to the 0% catch rate bug without knowing that bug existed.
Dang Dude. You know exactly what we need. I have been looking for a strategy for the Buizel Quest the whole day now. The tallest I have found so far is 2,6...
Caught a cherubi from the tree before so it is possible! Amazing play through guide so far, super helpful for these more annoying tasks. Thanks a bunch!
So I had trouble with the buizel one, so much so that after fully completing its dex entry it had its max height at 2'7", so I wondered if when I caught the 2'8", if the dex would update without having to turn it in. And sure enough. The moment I caught the big one, the dex updated.
That's kinda cool. Because we're filling the dex information for what we know. Nobody knew they got bigger so it would only say how big we seen them get.
Yea that's how I checked if it was a big buizel or not. I already got it at 2.7 and so when he told me it needs to be at least 2.8 i never had to run back and forth to check I just kept throwing pokeballs and then checking the size. Still took forever tho I just couldn't find one the correct size it was a pain
I'm so glad you said something about the cherrim in the specific tree that's uncatchable. Ran into it the other day and it completely threw me for a loop.
11:52 I got (finally... thanks a lot for the guide) my cherubi but I got it in the tree previous to yours so it´s not necesarily that tree (unless it´s something like the honey trees with munchlax)
This worked like a charm. Thanks for the tutorial. I caught over 25 Buizels before I started looking for a way to get this mission done. The grid was fun until it wasn’t.
After catching around 30 Buizel I actually found the smallest I’d ever seen, at only 1’11”. And I caught it because I thought it looked big too, so I’m clearly an awful judge of that. Definitely going to try this strategy to get an alpha instead. 😅
I had a feeling I got lucky doing mine first try with the one you catch in the tutorial, didn’t realize it would be this challenging for some this game is wild
Thank you Austin for this video. Both of these side quests were driving me nuts. I figured getting an alpha buizel would be the best way to complete that quest but I could not find one. The zone in and out trick and sleeping until morning helped me find it. I also had no clue Cherubi was only in one area in the Fieldlands and I actually found it somewhat quickly after watching the video. It was in the same tree that you said is your lucky tree ironically!
I hope you're working on the "Eerie Apparitions in the Night" request which is collecting 107 wisps. So far I've seen 5 but haven't collected bc I rather follow your guide since I know I'll forget which I caught.
Hey Austin, great video! One single correction in this video I'd like to make, is that for quest 10 you have to catch both Cascoon and Silcoon for it to appear on the board after Beauregard's wurmple evolves.
Legit the two hardest quests…finished Buizel by sheer luck and the Cherrim one I still haven’t done despite hucking 50 balls at one. Glad I wasn’t alone! Also wanted to say thanks for the videos!! Something that I feel may get patched out, but on the Cherrim request (or any other Pokemon) if you trade back and forth with someone it will fill out the Pokedex entry for number caught.
Damn it, just added this comment myself. Didn't notice you'd already done so. It was a real boon for me, had a nightmare levelling it up without this x
CORRECTION: Alright y’all, the fastest way to do this is to use the mountain camp in the Coronet Highlands. Fly between there and Jubilife village until you see the shaking tree across the river behind the tent. Then just keep resting until the morning until you get regular sunlight. I got a Cherrim my first try and a cherubi immediately after. Took me 10min total.
Around the time I got this quest there was a swarm outbreak. I ended up just catching like 12 and it turns out one of the very first couple I got was the 2”8 one.
I love the guide as always! But it was 12 hours too late for me after brute forcing it my way 😂 Side note, in Heartwood I caught both a Cherubi and a Cherrim (2 different trees). I don't know about the bug not allowing you to catch Cherrim in Heartwood because I caught it, and before quelling Kleavor.
Just an FYI, you dont need to have one that is 2’8 as long as it’s taller than the dude’s buizel. The one I brought him was 2’7 and counted. I think it just works for any Buizel that counts as a “large specimen”
I just want to say ,this guide really helped me. I went to that area and not only did I find that cherbi in that same tree.i went a little up and end up finding a cherrim! Thank u so much!!!
I was lucky enough that my 4th or so Buizel was a big enough one, but oh my GOD the dozens of times I've ran through the Heartwood with no success. However, I thought your "special tree" was too far south, so never went there. Added that to my route, and the first time that particular tree was shaking (my third check or so), it was Cherrim! I don't think special trees would be too surprising, considering Diamond/Pearl did similar, so I think you might be on to something. (It sucks I'll need to raise it to LV47 for Petal Dance, but better than not having it at all, for sure.) Thank you so much for this video!
PSA: You have to defeat Frenzy Kleavor in order to get the shaky tree nearby the Alpha Lopunny! I kept resetting over & over and nothing worked until I cleared that mission😅
A guide to catching Alphas just like the shiny video would also be great because I'm having a hard time catching the higher levelled ones, I bring their health down give them a status condition yet they don't get caught even after spamming 30+ pokeballs/great balls So a guide about that would be very appreciated 👉👈
Definitely did pause what I was doing at one point 'cuz I saw a non-alpha Buizel and think "That one's...bigger than normal, right?" Turned out to be 2'9, so you can definitely see it if you're used to how big they should look. And yeah it definitely seems like there's some very specific trees where Cherubi/Cherrim will come out.
I think I’ve got very lucky. I caught a 2”9 buizel the other day and got a cherrim randomly from a tree. I wasn’t even specifically looking for either of them
I gave the guy a Buizel that was 2'7" and it worked with that so you might just need a large specimen instead of spending hours like some people trying to find a 2'8"
The Cherrim issue is that you can't catch it if you start a fight with the daylight version of it. I encountered it today and even if you let it change to the night form it will not capture.
Don't know if you covered this, the pokedex tracks your progress for an entry at all times, but only updates it if it's caught. There are 3 icons counted at the top, first is encountered, second is caught and third is complete entry. Each objective is 1 point, red objectives are ×2. Some complete entries get special clothes (Bidoof, Shinx, Starters, etc). Each objective adds points to your rank, the ranks have thresholds of total points, this means the overflow goes to the next rank's xp bar. Ranking up gets new clothes and items/recipes. Another detail is the pokedex records shortest caught and the tallest caught, ditto for weight.
I came across the Cherrim glitch in the spawn tree just before your lucky tree. The solution is to encounter it at night. The glitch is triggered if the Cherrim's first move is to transform. If it spawns at night, it doesn't transform and you can catch it. I made several restart attempts, throwing ultra balls at it with it in the red and drowsy. It will never catch if it transforms first. Super easy catch at night though
Not sure if you know this but in battle you don’t have to go in your bag to choose a Poké ball. You can just press X just like you do when you’re in the overworld, then shift with the left or right button, and then throw it with RT and confirm.
09:42 Ah man, I felt that. :( I'm sorry for your lost. As I don't have autosave on I have trained myself to save reguarily, as I just do in all the games I play. Hard lesson for you here unfortunately.
Cherubi tree thing: The two trees closest to the alpha Lopunny contain Cherubi! The second one high up a little bit aways from the tree Austin uses gave me one last night!

@@SeasAreBlazin thanks my dude
Around the time I got this quest there was a swarm outbreak. I ended up just catching like 12 and it turns out one of the very first couple I got was the 2”8 one.
I love the guide as always! But it was 12 hours too late for me after brute forcing it my way 😂
Side note, in Heartwood I caught both a Cherubi and a Cherrim (2 different trees). I don't know about the bug not allowing you to catch Cherrim in Heartwood because I caught it, and before quelling Kleavor.
Lol at “quelling” there’s a word you don’t see everyday
That's my lucky tree too! That same tree is where I found my few Cherubi that I have.
This side mission is killing me, the last one I got was 2'7"
"scuse me sir. May I speak to you about our lord and savior Sinnoh?" Sent me lmaoo 🤣
I caught the "tutorial" Buizel and that was big enough for the quest.
I lost all hope when I looked at my pokedex and saw that the heights for Buizel were 1' 11'' - 2' 7'', this guide saved me!
I love all the opportunities you get to brute force your way with Wyrdeer xD
Just an FYI, you dont need to have one that is 2’8 as long as it’s taller than the dude’s buizel. The one I brought him was 2’7 and counted. I think it just works for any Buizel that counts as a “large specimen”
Didn’t work for me. I brought him a 2’7’’ and he told me specifically he wanted one that was 2’8’’
5:08 was it just me or there was just an alpha buiezel chilling there?
*Plays game to get away from relationship trouble*
“It’s still not big enough.”
*weeps gently*
"Cherubi is not a very rare pokemon"
Me who Was grinding the heartwood for 5 hours straight:"dafuq?"
I definitely experienced that Cherim glitch… popped out of tree near Grandwood arena and was uncatchable… wasted a lot of balls finding that out!
*Runs up to Buizel* “Hello sir would you like to hear about our lord and savior Shino” 😂
Cherrim and Cherubi can easily be found in the coronet highlands - lonely spring. Only those two are in the shaking trees
PSA: You have to defeat Frenzy Kleavor in order to get the shaky tree nearby the Alpha Lopunny! I kept resetting over & over and nothing worked until I cleared that mission😅
As always your guides are super helpful! I found an alpha for the buizel quest but was having trouble with this quest and now I got it! thanks!
I feel your pain with that crash. Crashed on me TWICE today. Wild times we live in.
Didn't know it was uncatchable. I wasted so many great balls on that cherrim from the tree and finally had to kill it :(
Thank you for mentioning that glitch about the Cherrim. I thought ut was just me, but that thing just did NOT want to be caught 🙃
Been looking all over for cherubi, threw it at your “Lucky Tree” after reloading zone. Alpha cherubi.
A guide to catching Alphas just like the shiny video would also be great because I'm having a hard time catching the higher levelled ones, I bring their health down give them a status condition yet they don't get caught even after spamming 30+ pokeballs/great balls
So a guide about that would be very appreciated 👉👈
“Excuse me sir can I talk to you about our lord and savior, sinnoh?!” Hahahahhaha
I wasn’t even specifically looking for either of them
I gave the guy a Buizel that was 2'7" and it worked with that so you might just need a large specimen instead of spending hours like some people trying to find a 2'8"
That’s weird because the quest giver specifically says to find one “2’8” or bigger. So idk how you got it to work with a 2’7”
Yeah I was just going through my buizels for a 2'8" and the closest was 2'7" so i just said " Please God just take this one" and he took it
The Cherrim issue is that you can't catch it if you start a fight with the daylight version of it. I encountered it today and even if you let it change to the night form it will not capture.
Wish you woulda commented 5 hrs ago lol
PSA - I encountered the glitched Cherrim in the tree directly northeast of the tree in the video. 1 HP, Stun/ Sleep, Ultra balls - cannot catch.
You got me good with the: "have you got a minute to talk about our lord and saviour, Sinnoh?" 💀💀💀
Just been taking my time with this game, I am more worried about the dex than the plot for once.
I didn’t realize the buizel quest was difficult since the dude took my only one and that was it, cool vid for opening my eyes
Hey Austin, whats your definition of when you say "zone out, zone back in" ??
Fyi press ZR when you have your ball selected on the bottom right corner for quicker yoinking of your ball rather than going via the satchel.
Yeah i found a cherrim at the shaking tree where frenzied lopunny is, wasnt catchable :(
I'll never get on board with the idea of whipping a ball of mud at a pokemon's face then capping. lol.
Not sure if you know this but in battle you don’t have to go in your bag to choose a Poké ball. You can just press X just like you do when you’re in the overworld, then shift with the left or right button, and then throw it with RT and confirm.
I was saving my alpha buizel while trying to get a 2’8” one but I caught an alpha floatzel and that made me decide to give the alpha buizel
I wish I saw this guide earlier, I waited FOREVER to get a big buizel. Great video though!
I got it randomly playing through. I was in that exact spot too. And an alpha lopunny was near by. Once I saw the tree shaking bam out pops a cherubi.
I caught a Cherrim and Cherubi in the Crimson Mirelands - Gapejaw Bog, around the Pachirisu location. No John's lucky tree for me.
the buizel guy: uR bUIzEl ToO sMAll
austin john: hey, here's a tutorial on how to do the quest!
09:42 Ah man, I felt that. :( I'm sorry for your lost. As I don't have autosave on I have trained myself to save reguarily, as I just do in all the games I play. Hard lesson for you here unfortunately.
I have the same clothes on my guy before watching this video. 🤣Great Minds!
Was having trouble finding Cherrim went to the tree you showed, boom first time. Thanks sooo much for that location and keep up the great videos!
That gd buizel… caught like 45 of the things before I managed to find two in an outbreak
Cherubi tree thing:
The two trees closest to the alpha Lopunny contain Cherubi! The second one high up a little bit aways from the tree Austin uses gave me one last night!
