I'm glad this is the 1st episode. Can you imagine that half the season is dedicated to Ai's life and her struggling with balancing the 2 lifes? Making us even closer to Ai, only to have it ripped away so quickly halfway through the season
for real. in the manga it felt like such a huge shock because it was so gritty. and there were no highlights in her hair, so the way her eyes were completely lightless really stood out
What is this scene supposed to make me feel. I ask because I’m feeling so many emotions. Is it supposed to be tragic or is it supposed to be heartfelt, depressing or wholesome?
The medium of animation really highlighted the importance of the starry eyes in my opinion. I just feel like her eyes, to a certain extent; shone at their brightest during this moment because she finally got to say to her kids with all of her heart that she loved them before her death.
I personally think the starry eyes are meant to show the eyes of obsessed people-- At this context, Ai is so obsessed to be able to love someone from her heart
The fact that she was able to say it without a lie sort of implies that for the longest time she was dealing with depression and impostor syndrome. She only managed to find true happiness in the last year or so of her life
Not only that. She literally knew her fans, she was able to even remember the name and the day one of her fans gave her something. She really loved her children and her fans, as she said, she was lying hoping that the lies would one day become the truth.
You know what's crazy ? Aqua used to be a doctor in his prior life and a doctor's job is to save people ... but in his reincarnated life his sole purpose is to kill the person who's responsible for her mother's death ( apparently his father ) ... The contrast is beyond imagination
Its actually scary because he knows the human anatomy and medical stuff. He'll be able to find out what his dad is allergic, overdosing him with a deadly drug or target specific body parts (most likely his legs) to give him a huge advantage.
I did wonder for a sec that he might operate her because he was able to understand the injury but then he got hugged making him incapable. But it was because I just wanted some hope that she will survive

and the sparkles that are usually glowing in her eyes aren’t there. it really gave me chills seeing how they animated it, so lifeless, yet still beautifully haunting. Goddamn this animation is fucking gorgeous
Yup, and I have many of the same concerns as well. The manga has some insane panels that I don't think can be adapted to it's fullest potential. That one with Akane in particular doing research I just don't think will translate well to animation. But I'm open to being surprised. I'm predicting this anime is going to end in that arc and I am not ready.
@@geraalcht Well, A1 has done it before. There are some scenes in Kaguya that I thought would be night impossible to translate to anime well, and they not only did it, they surpassed it at times. These guys know what they're doing.
This moment broke me mentally because we know this kind of person will never come back and never will. Ai's determination for being a good mother and idol, and her determination to say "I love you" truly really strike me through the core.
Bro and on the manga U can see someone named akane which could do a perfect copy of her in a scene from the manga but for a moment I cried 2 time when I see that
The fact that after Ai’s death the stary eyes of Aqua are grey showing his dark future to his revenge and Ruby’s stays the same colour. The little details in this scene incredible
This was devastating to me that my 10 year old son had to comfort me. I want to tell him how much I love him and how proud I feel to see him growing up everyday
It’s really sad that she just turned 20 at the day she passed away, and that she had a bad experience at a very young age. No family, no love, and raised in a children’s house. I hope that one day, she is reincarnated to see her kids again.
No family, no love, raised in a children's house, potentially manipulated and impregnated by an asshole, said asshole gets her own fan to murder her in front of her children. No life losers on the internet disrespect her after death saying she deserved it for having a boyfriend. What a rough life.
Yeah,as Hu Tao. Aqua can reincarnate in Genshin verse as Dainsleif if somehow the kami-sama of reincarnation doing his job well & Aqua's previous memory & his memory before is still intact
The worst part is not only did AI's life get taken away from her, but both Ruby and Aqua's in a different way, too. This anime isn't just real in the entertainment industry aspects but life as well. Ai's whole life and career were built up on lies, I see this as a moment of clarity as she's moving on, but moving on without her children.
Ai was stabbed in the abdominal aorta which usually produce rapid death. Even if Ai were to be treated, she would only have a small chance of survival. Aqua didn't have the tools, he's in the body of a weak baby, and he's in the state of shock, he knew that it was the end for Ai. This scene wrecked me. Hits even harder with the voice acting, animation, colors, and music.
I discovered this anime because I've been listening to Yoasobi's music for a while and I saw this song getting millions of views every day, going from 20 million to 28 million in 4 days. I checked to see if it was an anime and I see it's the highest rated anime at the time, and I now understand exactly why. I'm not gonna lie, I've never cried this much watching anything. I don't usually cry at all when characters die. This anime was able to get me so attached to a character's story and life in 1 hour. Props for that. This scene was a mix of so many things. It was beautiful, heartbreaking and so much more all at once. It showed a mother's love for her children, even though she had never known what it felt like to be loved. The music also got to me very badly. It was so pure and touching without any lyrics. Watching the scene again, I noticed a bunch of small details that were so touching. First off, notice how much she backs up, starting at the front door and somehow only falling in front of the door to the bedroom. She didn't want both her children seeing that, so locked Ruby in to save her the trauma. She then covered Aqua, who was hyperventilating and looking at all that blood. Also, right when the man opened the door, we are shown good memories she had with her children. As many people see their lives flashing back right when they are about to die, we can assume that it was her life flashing, but it only starts at the birth of her children, meaning that they were the ones who made her first good memories that she cherished. This whole episode was so worth the hour and a half, I would have loved still to see Ruby and Aqua grow up with Ai without the anime taking a dark and revengeful twist, but I'm still hyped to see what happens next. Thanks if you read this far, lmao.
Oh my god, this is like the second scene I discover of this anime and it's fucking depression incarnate. Thought it'd be about a pregnant idol's journey or something.
The shot of her dead body with unfocused eyes leaning still aagaints the door, and those fixed smile. So deathly still & cold was she, it was as if she has become a snowy mountain, slightly blending into the white light from the door, it was like she's fading into just memory. My gosh, the artist/mangaka did a great job depicting the deceased/Aqua's grief visualized, it was a feeling as cold as a snowy mountain, if you put a sheet over her she might as well become one and vanish.
I cried the ugliest tears after watching this scene. It hits *SO* hard because Aqua was a doctor in his previous life. His job was to save people. But he wasn't able to save Ai, who he had adored so much prior to him being reincarnated as one of Ai's children. And the way that the sparkles from Ai's eyes had went away, Rie's performance here... Everything about this scene hits like a dump truck.
Ai's eyes radiate so beautifully, the anime did a really good job with capturing this, they look like a whole galaxy shining a dark world. Aqua and Ruby inherits this, they have that star (the "hoshi"no part of their last name) in each of their eye and it makes me feel like Ai's light never died and she will always shine through them. I'm glad I got to see Oishi no Ko get adapted, the manga is amazing. 💛
ai is afraid that she lied about her love to her fans and kids, but in the end he loved all of them both, he even remember her fans names, still have their gifts and even showed the to her kids, and as for her kids, she loved them dearly until the end
You know what's worse a certain ign in the comment section name"iamfighterman9646". Thinks she's narcissistic and deserve to die because she lied to fans about her pregnancy. It's not even mandatory to disclose personal info. Like seriously what's gotta do with her being pregnant at least she's taking care of the kids. People like that guy deserves to die. They're the fanatic the show is mentioning. That ign comment came from a main comment of marketing done in the series to fool us that the show is wholesome. I'm doing this because that ep hit hard because people like that existed and oh boi I've seen it now
The fact that she willingly chose to love her fans and children even though she thought that she was unable to love is actually the purest form of love there can be. Her being emotionally stunted due to her past, experiencing alexytymia and being physically unable to tell whether she feels and emotion - and yet choosing to love anyway, willingly choosing to go against the odds in order to give love to people - it's true love. It's loving despite yourself, it's loving because you want to love. Ai was the truest idol of them all, not because she was perfect but precisely because she was flawed, yet wanted to overcome those flaws for the sake of others, for the sake of the love that she wanted to give. Her's was a beautiful soul.
I read the manga but this still hits damn hard 😢. The illustrations and animation are amazing as well as all their voice acting. Rieri did a great job voice acting Ai as well. Its crazy
Out of everyone i mostly feel bad for ruby Since she's an actual child back in a baby body + she never had any parents that care for her except ai + she was left in that room alone while seeing her beloved mom idol slowly dying
I know and there's is when you get home from work to do a factory is not normal for the stream because ai made by some specific people You said that is not an ai You just got a knife is not normal for me to get out of the rooftop bar to Numbers please
I read the scene many times. I imagined it in my head in multiple ways I even tried to visualize the scene with Takahashi Rie's voice. I wasn't prepared. This hit me harder than what I read in the Manga so often. The music, the sound design, the lighting and most importantly, Takahashi Rie's voice. All I can say is, thank you for going the extra mile for making the anime so great. For once, the actual scene is better than what I imagined it to be.

Wait, wait, wait. This is just happen in the first episode?! Damn... I almost broke in tears on this short clip, now i have to watch the whole episode and prepare myself to cry.
They did a fantastical job to get newcomers interested and taking a liking to Ai Hoshino. And they did also a great job at tearing (my) soul apart. Now that I think of it, if my japanese knowledge doesn't fully fail me, the name is kind of incredibly fitting for her. And it makes this hit even more harder. Heck, this is admittedly the first time in my life where I actually felt the loss of the person itself and not just find the concept of someone close dying sad. I actually was depressed at Ai's death rather that someone was dying in a sad context. And I anticipated something depressing. Aka Akasaka really managed to touch my heart here and I'm grateful and at the same time mad about it.
It is definitely anime of the year material. it was soo unexpected The first episode was amazing they really baited us making it seem Ai is the main character i wonder how the story progresses in the other episodes maybe because i just wanna see Aqua take revenge. Oshi No Ko is deff one of the anime of the year. It really hit hard like I want to eat your pancreas type shet but this was just even more sad Ai was soo pure and didn't deserve this.I cried my eyes out as well that sudden change as she got stabbed just piano music mad either even more sad the star in her eyes going away and just seeing a corpse made it hit soo hard. Her saying I love you and realising that it wasn't a lie mad me soo depressed but happy at the same time, man bitter sweet things just idk how to describe it Also How the hell did the author went from making wholesome romcom like kaguya sama, then proceeded to make something like this. This guy is built different definitely up there with the greats. The pacing was great The animation and music were superb
This scene broke me. Its because not only did Aqua and Ruby just begin to have a relationship with their mother, but it was taken away from them just like everything else and whats worse for Aqua is his mom was taken away by the very same person that killed him. Also for those that dont know. Yes. Another bad part is that Aqua was a doctor but there was nothing he could do to save his mother. In the Anime she is stabbed in the Abdominal Aorta. 90% of Aortic stab wounds are fatal within 90 seconds. Even if the wound is sealed and treated properly that 90% still stays at 70% for the next 12 hours and then drops to 30% for the next 24 hours, if the trauma hasn't killed the victim then the aortic aneurysms, Delayed Aortic ruptures or retroperitoneal hematoma's will. The best gift that Aqua and Ruby got out of this was finally hearing Ai say that she loved them for the first and last time.
Worts it's true when U get a kid but you are an idol U need to do something quick for them to not be in public and keep them safe but outside cameras u could justo love spoiling your kids as much as you can because some time later or sooner U will not be able to be there anymore for them and make them happy until much later when U are gone they are grown ups and they realise your words at final moments making U cry even more than normal it's sad to be an idol and extremely hard because more for toxic fans there is much story behind those reincarnated kids from her like I think they knew each other from their past lives(manga says it with images not words if I remember right), but the killer who send that person to kill her possibly it's highly it their father or ex father it's infuriating but makes this story has so many shining moments when U realise they get U some words intentionally to your heart like lies make U lie even more until your last moment you can't even know who you are

for real. in the manga it felt like such a huge shock because it was so gritty. and there were no highlights in her hair, so the way her eyes were completely lightless really stood out
What is this scene supposed to make me feel. I ask because I’m feeling so many emotions. Is it supposed to be tragic or is it supposed to be heartfelt, depressing or wholesome?
@@Iso20227 the answer to your question is.... yes
@@FireFlanker1 understandable. The delivery was amazing, I’d go as far as to say it was a masterpiece.
The medium of animation really highlighted the importance of the starry eyes in my opinion. I just feel like her eyes, to a certain extent; shone at their brightest during this moment because she finally got to say to her kids with all of her heart that she loved them before her death.
I personally think the starry eyes are meant to show the eyes of obsessed people--
At this context, Ai is so obsessed to be able to love someone from her heart
And when the stars disappear too
@@maximumoverdrive2676 star shone brightest when it reach its end
@@humanzzzz nah if she does the star would turn black, the star turns black when they feel or show dark emotions
like how stars go supernova before dying ... they shone at their brightest before the light disappears
How can this scene get even scarier?
Ai's lifeless body smiling, with no light, and no star in her eyes, istg, she's terrifying

Do you know which chapter in the manga is the continuation of ep1 of the anime?
Ok I was worried about that one panel at 2:37, but they nailed it with just the right amount of creepy
Yep 😣
and the sparkles that are usually glowing in her eyes aren’t there. it really gave me chills seeing how they animated it, so lifeless, yet still beautifully haunting.
Just the right amount of creepy and a perfect amount of tragedy
@@geraalcht Well, A1 has done it before. There are some scenes in Kaguya that I thought would be night impossible to translate to anime well, and they not only did it, they surpassed it at times. These guys know what they're doing.
This moment broke me mentally because we know this kind of person will never come back and never will. Ai's determination for being a good mother and idol, and her determination to say "I love you" truly really strike me through the core.
The “I wonder what you’ll be like as adults” part, her voice man-- I’m bawling

The fact that after Ai’s death the stary eyes of Aqua are grey showing his dark future to his revenge and Ruby’s stays the same colour. The little details in this scene incredible

Damn that hit hard :(
Cried my eyes out. The voice actress’s work and the writing was perfect… my heart hurts for her, Aqua, and Ruby :’(
Ai death face is by far the most creepiest I've seen. The smile, the cold dead eyes, it's almost as it felt genuine, real.
20?
@@Red-32 yes she turned 20 when she died, Aqua and Ruby were 4 years old at the time
She had them when she was 16-17?! 😭
Thanks if you read this far, lmao.
lol i did and yo this anime is so good i cant wait for ep 4 and i cried sooo much when ai did die it was so sad
Oh my god, this is like the second scene I discover of this anime and it's fucking depression incarnate. Thought it'd be about a pregnant idol's journey or something.

There would be no prgnant idol irl
Creeps would kill her family
I still cry, no matter how much i watched this scene i still cry. 😭😭
Welcome to the hellish life of being an idol
Even in her darkest moment..she still saw the light..and it’s heartbreaking..
Though her body had died, her soul lived on.

I've never seen someone's corpse be so haunting yet beautiful. She's so lifeless yet she's able to smile in death, it's terrifying

It is pretty great. "Ai" can be written in Kanji with the characters for "love" or "sorrow".
So Ai's name can be said to mean "Love/Sorrow of a Star".

Also How the hell did the author went from making wholesome romcom like kaguya sama, then proceeded to make something like this. This guy is built different definitely up there with the greats. The pacing was great
The animation and music were superb
Read his earlier work Instant Bullet which is edgy as fuck.
二人の子供を心配していた所でもう愛しているよ
愛は見えるんじゃなくて感じる物なのだっと思う
The sparkle in the eyes leaving is what hurts the most
This is the 3rd time i watched this scene. I cried each time
