“SOMETHING HUMAN”
My circuits have blown
I know it's self imposed
And all I have shared
And all I have loved
Is all I’ll ever own
But something has changed
I feel so alive
My life just blew up
I'd give it all up
I’ll depressurise
Aahh
10,000 miles left on the road
Aahh
500 hours until I am home
I need something human
Human, human, human, human
Let's face all our fears
come out of the shade
Let's burn all the money
Absolve all the lies
And wake up unscathed
The big picture's gone
replaced with visions of you
Now life can begin
I've cleansed all my sins
I'm about to break through
Aahh
5000 miles left on the road
Aahh
200 hours until I am home
I need something human
Human, human, human
And I need the touch
And something human, human, human
Aahh
Less than a mile left on the road
Aahh
I will be crawling through your door
I need something human
Human, human, human
And I need your love
And something human, human, human

Bellamy on this song:
The song comes from when you do get a bit burnt out from being on the road for too long. The Drones Tour was amazing and we’re very happy with how it went, but at the same time it was quite grueling. Six nights in Paris, five nights in London, the same show - it’s the first time we did that, an extensive arena tour with multiple nights in multiple cities. And the nature of the album and the show was quite dark in message and tone, and I think that living in that for a long time can actually be quite draining. Portraying a set of songs which are quite dark in tone, and having the visual nature of the show with the drones flying around and what we were putting across with the riot police at the beginning. It had a dark vibe, which is good, but when you’ve been doing that for a while that natural result was that as soon as I came off the road, “Something Human” came out, which is a more tender, down-to-earth, simplistic song about what it feels like to be burned out and wanting to get home to a more normal life after being on the road for a couple years.
Give them a break seriously. This song is different, does that make it bad? I don't think so for one
It's very different from their other stuff but I like that. I'm really looking forward to the album (and I do hope there's a couple harder tracks in there as well :P)
Julandrius they said there will be hard rock songs as usual. I also heard next single will sound like 'old' muse.
Julandrius Thank you for sharing that, the entire song makes so much sense from that perspective!
Julandrius I love this song. I don't understand why it's getting so much hate. All I can think is that that this song is a bit upbeat/different but in essence a very much muse song.
It’s bad tho
This is simply the story of a guy who forgot to return his VHS tape and had to travel back in time to a time when Blockbuster was still a thing.

I think the message is "blockbuster would still be open if you returned your stuff"
I thought it was "Even werewolves can be kind and rewind"
I see it now! How the fuck did I not get it the first few times?
X
whateverlikehell Netflix put blockbuster out of business.
whateverlikehell no, the message is obviously “If you don’t have time to return your stuff, just buy a magic Lamborghini that can time travel, go back in time, return your stuff, then transform into a werewolf and finally run away from the police officers who can also time travel in a telephone booth that was in the middle of the desert” (just kidding I absolutely love the new album of MUSE and the music videos they’ve made... actually pretty much everything MUSE has done and probably everything they will do🎶🎵”
The contrast of this "acoustic" song with their heavy music is just perfect, this guys are great musicians in the complete extension of the word!
John Bojórquez Thank God someone who understands! you are a blessing from the sky.

I adore Muse. I wanted to hate this song. I skipped it several times on the album. Finally listened to it. Work of art. It's beautiful. Fucks sake.
Thats how Muse works :)
@@LisaYellow it'd s brilliant song indeed, epic!
chester elven. They have a very creative sound as well if you look back on the history of how they work together to produce music together with different types of other artists and the time put into the whole process it's pretty amazing.! They also can play plenty of different instruments.
They play with sounds that is what makes them so creative. Not afraid to experiment with sounds. you probably already know that if you like them.
But why would you want to hate it
Ha. It's usually that one you don't want to like that gets you. I still have a few from this album that I am skipping. I'm sure the same thing will happen to me with those songs.
I love how their every album is different, but still they manage to sound so characteristic and recognizable.
I lost my mom this week and muse was one of our favorite bands. I'm so glad this came out when it did. It's perfect.

I really like the lyrics. Makes me think about a night that showed me I could still feel happiness , had been so long ago i forgot what that even felt like. The changing moment that gave hope and a chance to get out of depression
Hope you're still out of depression and can feel though life can be hard there's hapiness too. I'm fighting depression now so I know how it's like.
I'm coming here after listening to Muse's interview at Radio X, where they pointed out that the first version of this song was the acoustic one: it took a whole year to them to produce this other version that (according to them) fits better within the album.
Now I am wondering what it feels like, working for one year to make an awesome song simpler, radio-friendlier and more electronic, and then read people saying "OMG this sucks, it's way too jingly and simple! This isn't Muse anymore!"
Calm down you raging fans, listen to this song WITHIN the album, and not as a stand-alone track.
If you still don't like it, the acoustic version waits for you, and please leave alone the people who like this one.
Because it may eventually come out that you have being too quick and rough in your judgement, and not the opposite.
totally, i wasn't impressed by the album at first but now my heart jumps everytime i listen to one of these songs
Probably not the best song to be introduced to Muse (Lame IMO), but hey ho keep searching because the have some absolute mind bending songs, but this is nowhere near their best IMO
Oui mais 1 ans c’est pas forcément tout les jours !!!

Back to Muse their song writing is pretty intense.
Matt is funny at times yet very serious whenever he's producing the sounds of the music and writing prosses..
The whole band is yet Matt is very serious he hears different sounds that most do not . his voice is incredibly interesting.. ✌ enjoy

I'd never have imagined Muse would make such a happy sounding song, but I love it. Best song in the album for me. I hope they play it tomorrow.
This one probably my fav from the entire album. It has soothing background but has strong MUSE kicks in it. Love it!! Cant wait to hear the song in their tour concert 🤘🏻
I'm so dumb!! I realized all these new muse music videos have followed a general narrative
Dig Down - introduced us to this world where AI has taken over and Matt is some kind of propaganda leader
Thought Contagion - Turns out Dig Down was a video game, however in this world there are also werewolves. Note we also see Dom as a cop here. Thought Contagion becomes a videogame and Matt escapes with the Car from Thought Contagion
Something Human - Matt has escaped with the car and is seen watching a tape of Simulation Theory and escapes Dom (the same cop from TC) and turns out Matt is also a werewolf. [Also the Skelton with the Mohawk at the start kinda resembles the purple hair Mohawk guy on the floor near the start of TC however different costumes)
Theory: Matt is dimension hopping in fear of getting turned into a video game and on the run from being a propaganda leader. Or maybe I'm just over analyzing everything :P
Thoughts: I really love this retro-futuristic vibes. Where everything seems to be the future but we have Arcades, Cassettes and Video Tapes. The colors in these music videos are amazing! Reminds me of blade runner 2049. Say what you will about the music but they have been on top of their game with their music videos. I WISH they would release this as a movie like Michael Jackson's Moonwalker. We can only hope
Are you some kind of super human ? Wait..... Are you also in the game???
But that’s just a theory... A MUSIC THEORY
I can't wait to see what else is in this story.
U must listen to albums Drone!
For me It seems that each song is another “video game” or “simulation”. Matt tries to escape but every time he realises he just hops into another layer of fake reality. This time the message of the album seems to be that everything you see nowadays is fake and virtual and people have to struggle to find real emotions, feelings and to remember on how to lead a real life, interact with each other and... love. Hence the possible album name - Simulation Theory.
I've lost a very good friend and we burried him today.
When I came home I went on RUclips and I saw that Muse have released a song.
I fucking love this song and I fucking love Muse for every things they bring in my life.
Sorry for your loss mate, hope you're alright
Sorry for your loss :(
Yaxley I feel better now, thx
Never stop experimenting!!! Love you guys!!!
I’m not sure what it is about this song, but it just lets all your uncertainties wash away - and I think that’s beautiful.
Before you criticize this song, please go read Matt’s most recent interview. In the interview, Matt explains why he chose such a relaxed, easy song. This song was the first written after the Drones tour, which was an intensive, almost painful experience with non-stop heavy rock. That’s why the lyrics are about returning home and being tired. He also said on his Instagram that the rock and roll will be back next song. You don’t need to like all their songs, but just because the song isn’t for you, doesn’t mean you should tear everyone else down. Just let them chill out for a little while.
John Liebkemann I think this song is ass and not because it's "relaxed" or slow. It's because it's an ass song.
"non-stop heavy rock" and "drones" in one sentence... i dont know what to say...
Different Style... I love it!
My favourite part is that bit just before 3 mins when he posts the video. No idea what makes it but it gets me every time
My favourite thing about this song is how "ten thousand miles left on the road, five hundred hours 'til I am home" means he's averaging 20mph.
To be fair, in the second verse he has 5000 miles and 200 hours left, meaning he's pushed it to a scorching 25mph.
And actually, if you're travelling for that long then you're probably spending half your time sleeping/resting, so in all honestly he's making good time.
So it'd be actually 40 mph, which is indeed not bad
Good point
And it isn’t likely he’d be shattering speed limits at that pace.
But who cares, the video is nice
Yet another over analysis of a music video.... Who does the math on something like this? And I say that as a guy with enough math courses to have a 2nd degree in it. We listen to bands like this to escape reality, not look for it.
@@ws8080 Let me have my nerdy fun, killjoy
10000 miles and 500 hours till home. i did the research. Matt is travelling about 32km/h or 20mph. no wonder he takes forever
Hahaha great I was going to do the same thing. Though, in the second verse he has increased the speed to about 40 km/h lol
also explains why the Camaro can catch him so easily
Did you seriously have to research that
Ever heard of a lyrical metaphor?
😂❤
SIMULATION THEORY CONFIRMED!
Edit: Apparently confirmed to have 11 songs PLUS 8 acoustic tracks. HYPE!
THE SOND DARKSIDE MUST BE CONFIRMED TOO! MATTS LICENSE PLATE AHHHHHHHH
What ? Can you explain it ?
MensuelChat In an interview, Matt mentioned that they’ve got some songs for the new album and I think he said his favourite or at least a song they had was called “The Dark Side”.
Simulation Theory sounds like the name of the new album
Yeah, it was his favorite song
I feel so alive😭
Always love Simulation theory...
damn, this song is really catchy!! I can listen to it every days
One day when MUSE is gone, we will all cry.. So please let's just enjoy their genius and enjoy every song they have. This song isn't their best but it's a good song. It's the future, origin of symmetry is the past.. Bands evolve. I can't wait for this album to come out👌 Loving the futuristic sound...

Beautiful, calm, peaceful, adorable and totally MUSE
There are very few bands who are capable of bringing back the old school sound and making it work muse is one of them
People say Muse has 'become' mainstream.
As a person who has picked up a guitar I know that it's fun to create all type of music.
It's ironic that the fanbase reacts humanly when Muse writes a song titled Something Human.
Some people need to just appreciate a great song when they hear it ;)
Theres a big difference between becoming mainstream and becoming generic. Most people are saying this is generic. Because honestly theres nothing inspired about the composition of this song. Muse has had an amazing past of changing up regularly but still writing music that feels special, but I just can't feel anything special about this. If you like it thats great, but I and many others do not and we're free to express our opinions about it.
@@ClikcerProductions I didn't like a lot of songs on this album either, but have really grown to appreciate most of the album now. Not because I wanted to like it, but I just gave it some time, like I did with the previous albums. I like how every album has a different feel to it
@@authorified89 I've given most tracks on the album a few listens, but to me it still just doesn't feel special, if you enjoy it more power too you, I try to find enjoyment in as wide a spectrum of music as I possibly can, and hopefully Ill learn to enjoy this album over time, not just from exposure making it more enjoyable but because I begin to hear the bits that make it special for the people who like it
@@ClikcerProductions you can't force it and don't get me wrong, I do see why people don't like the album
@@ClikcerProductions gotta applaude your really mature response to the slightly baity comment OP made. Nice one.
I quite like this song. But I also completely see what you're talking about. If you go back and listen to their earlier stuff, you can really hear the different layers of instruments, vocal ranges... Just really great. Like an onion.
Where as this... I see it. I also hear it. It's flat. There are no contrasting layers to make an overall BAM effect in your ears.
I love Matt's voice, though. I think that's what I like about this song.
I absolutely love it when band members play a role in the story of music videos. And it wasn't just Matt, all three of them were there!
Is it just me ?........when he sings “I am about to break free” I get like so manyyy goosebumps 🥴
First few times I listened to this, I wasn’t that fussed. Now it’s one of my absolute favourite Muse songs. I can’t stop listening to it!
I resonate with the song so much it became an instant favourite. Just the mellow tune, coupled with the lyrics, it just has that "coming home" feel to it. As someone who drives a LOT, it's one of those songs you listen to after a long haul, when you're finally about 10 minutes away from home and looking forward to getting some rest.
Matt *speeds in his car*

Seems reasonable.
xDDD

They probably tried to kill him because he was singing this godawful song.
Thom X childish gambino: *kills you with his ak47

Whatever the music style is, Muse's always doing great things.
If by “great” you mean glorified breathing into a microphone and trying to be Radiohead, then I couldn’t agree more!!
Thom X thom Yorke has a whiny and annoying voice, I don’t know how you can call hitting high notes and being extremely unique in his singing style “trying to be Radiohead” that trend died out years ago
Les annecnotes x), je m'attendais à te voir la.
Thom X these days, Radiohead are trying too hard to be Muse.
it's pop rock. this is literally just pop rock with some synth to it
Love it when a band has reoccurring themes and characters in their videos

А я добавлю, что MUSE шикарен 👍
Darkside next song confirmed!
Dan Kelly or simulation theory 😱😁
Shit you right
Or the album is called Drkside?
I think the album will be called simulation theory or there is a song on the album named after the title like Resistance on The Resistance
Dan Kelly yeah, for some reason I think they'll leave the album title until when it's released with no hint whatsoever. Or at least I think that'd be cool 😂
Digging the concept of this album.
Ben W Which album?
Well I assume we'll be getting one and the past three singles have been linked concept wise so I assume the eventual album will be a thematic or conceptual one.
Comes out November!
where'd you hear that, 'cause that'd be amazing
I don't like the song but the concept is really good

A few years ago, when covid was at its peak, I was working a job that required several hours of driving a day. The job was killing me, and I probably would have sped up the process if I hadn't asked out a crush and formed a wonderful relationship. She lived in another state, and we couldn't visit until I finally moved her to my state. As I was working that awful job, counting down the days until I could finally be with her forever, this song really struck a chord with me. After all that wait, having something human at the end saved me.
This song is about Muse touring all the time. Genius track. Love it.
3:17 Chris & Dom are Time Lords confirmed
Think it's more bill and ted than doctor who tbh
I think it is actually a reference to "Bill and Ted's excellent adventure" ;-)
I love how they find so many ways to sound great.
I’m an American living in Sweden moving back to America. This song is everything.
MUSE has been and always will be their own thing. We all need a Muse.
I can actually understand what Matt's singing without the subtitles... this is a first 😂
Silent Night call the number in the video
Silent Night same
🤣
what subtitles?
Actually, there have always been those people who just cry about "the old muse" since 2010 or something like that, but imo, you cannot take those seriously. How should it be possible for men who are 40 years old now to write in the exactly same style as when they were like 20?? I'm very happy that they developed and not everything sounds the same. And that doesn't stop you from listening to those masterpieces from OoS, Absolution and so on... With Drones, Muse probably created the most complete era in their carreer with an excellent album and a great tour. And now a new era has begun and listening to this new song just made me really happy and I'm looking forward to the completed album, wich will work as a complete piece of art like every of Muse's albums did before. So just enjoy beeing able to follow the journey of Muse and if you want to listen to Absolution songs, who prevents you from listening to Absolution??! Cheers
Because Muse used to be the best operatic rock band in the world. Now this is just generic pop every other group is putting out. Sure, they can change their sound, but the reason so many people were drawn to them was how original and daring they were, especially with orchestral arrangements. This is just boring pop music made to sell records to top 40 listeners.
Finally somebody got the point 👍
truer words have never been spoken from a muse fan
Well Radiohead are continually changing their sound with 48 and still create critically acclaimed albums for their fans.
Muse... not so much.
Change is good, if it produces a great album but Muse seem to be incapable of doing that anymore. OOS & Absolution are classic albums that constantly chart in best album lists. Fat chance of Drones, 2nd Law or whatever this is doing that. They make "ok" albums now. Change your sound all you want but if it don't sound good... it dont sound good
So fucking right, men. I’m in a hurry to discover the entire album, pretty sure it will be great as their old albums ⭐️
Why is this not no 1 already. An amazing song.
I was very surprised when this song came on the car radio today. It had been ages since I last heard MUSE on public radio. Very satisfying.🇦🇹🔥🔥🔥
It's been almost 20 years. They are simply not the same people to make the same music anymore. One can feel that Matt is more happy as a person now, and more mature about his feelings. I would rather have him happy after all the great music he's produced, that's my choice.
Елена Теплова Why does happy have to sound so generic though?
Agree. And maybe someone who's happy just spends more time enjoying life than composing and producing. Just a guess.
Amen.
Messofanego I don't know why, but generally people tend to make better music when they're unhappy
My brother stopped listening to them by the time Twilight came out, he felt they have "sold themselves out". I insisted and bought Black Holes and Revelations plus The Resistance anyway. They were still good to me. But when The 2nd Law came out I was done. Madness is okay but they are going way too mainstream for my liking. I respect Matt, Chris and Dominic as musicians but it is just not the same anymore. Don't get me started with Drones. Aftermath is the only one I can listen to more than once.
Why don't they make Knights of Cydonia kind of song anymore? Or Time is Running Out? Not to mention Plug in Baby or Muscle Museum. I just listened to this because it was in my recommendation. (Prob because I go back to their old hits on a regular basis)
Love the smooth sound and the retro 80s imagery
This song is full with good vibes. Good Energy. This song makes me feel alive (again) ecpecially in hard times. Pure medicine. It's an amazing feeeeling to listen to this song with eyes closed. So thank you sooo much for this amazing masterpiece! I can't find the words!💖
Muse has always been a good band. The fact they're using a lamborghini countach in theyre videos really shows good taste.
Oh my god it's actually way better than what I thought it would be
Blizzard Blaze I don’t like the feel of it
Blizzard Blaze it doesn’t feel like a muse song that’s why
Arend Tigchelaar I mean your right about it not sounding like muse, but it's good.
Personally I love this song. True, throughout the years Muses sound has changed considerably, but that’s simply because they’re evolving as a band. I also think this shows true character from them as they are aware of the hate that they will get from a certain group of fans who are stuck in the past, yet they still continue to make music they want to make. From Showbiz to Simulation Theory. You guys are awesome. - True fan.
Me too! I might not like everything they put out, but I'm so glad they're not afraid to change things up. Things would get awfully stale after a while.
It's hardly a 'certain group of fans'. I've seen them 5 times, from the smallest gigs to arena tours and festivals. I have been disappointed by their musical evolution since Absolution. It doesn't make you a 'true fan' to like everything they produce. Some people grew to love the heavier, guitar based Muse. They have changed, and not for the better (in my opinion), simple as. I'm still a huge Muse fan!
Agree, they say they don't like the '' commercial '' direction of the group, but they want the old music... Like a '' commercial '' group should do x). Evolution is a good thing in music too ^^
I don’t really like most of Muse’s new stuff - But this song is beautiful!
Well said that man like it or not you have got to respect them for evolving all good artists do that
I've been listening to the acoustic version so much I forgot what this one sounded like so I had to find it

Bands that have the confidence to do the unexpected or experiment with new styles deserve a lot of support! ❤
Sure, but is this the way? To me they're capable of so much more, they're talented musicians, yet lately each new experimentation seems unfinished, half-assed. I think we can both agree that with this new album they're aiming for a sort of 80s aesthetic, even the visuals seem to scream this is the case. Even though that in itself is awesome the execution is something worth discussing, perhaps I need to brush of my knowledge of 80's music but this sounds nothing like it at all, there's barely a hint of synthwave/ retrowave sounds and it all ends up sounding like a bland pop song that fits right in during a visit to the local shopping centre or gym. What I'm saying is, I too love to see groups experiment with different sounds and genres, heck, that's the main reason I fell in love with their works in the first place, back in 2009, but this new experiment feels lazy and doesn't seem to represent or do justice to the style they're trying to replicate and expand on. Prior to this piece I could recognise genres like; rock, alternative rock, jazz (Nishe, Feeling Good), space rock, dub-step (Unsustainable), pop, metal rock, hard rock, rap (Who Knows Who, Uprising B-side), classical and rock opera in their works but this is just barely a pop song, barely synthwave/ retrowave...
Go watch Dora the explorer. Afcourse bands should try new stuff, but that doesn't mean to write a 5 min popsong with no creativity in any aspects. Can't really support any of that
Experimenting with a genre that has been overused those last years (How Deep Is You Love and shit like that)...Yeah, right...
How is this unexpected when they have released a terrible, generic pop crap song on every one of their last few albums? This sound is already overdone on commercial radio. Hearing Muse continue to do this just sounds tired and like a lazy attempt to remain relevant. Stick to what you do best, or truly do an unexpected or unique sound. This is neither
Here we see Muse trying to score a hit Portugal. The Man way, nice try.
Made me cry of happiness
I love the aesthetic of this album, from the lamborgini coutash, to the vaporwave world he enters. It's perfect.
Sorry but I laughed when Matt transformed. I thought I saw chewbacca lol
It's a good video but I need time to process the song 💜
Flor. Eme Yo same 😂
Same. The song feels a bit repetitive now, but I'm sure I'll like it given some time. as for the video, I love the continuity between this and the last... and I hope this trend continues.
AlphaGarg Ya, I totally agree. I think over time ill like it a lot more.
Their new stuff will never nearly as good as their old stuff, but I really appreciate how they keep evolve rather than doing the same thing over and over.
Btw I was expecting a song with full accoustic such as unintended..
Yes but Muse have never been good. They made an entire career out of trying to be Radiohead and now they’ve turned to commercial pop shit.
Thom X another radiohead comparison? Dude, the joke is old.. come on 😊
Alastair Winchester dude, are you serious? The only thing I agree about both band similiarity is their singer voice, since they admit of influenced by jeff buckley. The music itself is completely different.
I have never, ever understood the Radiohead comparisons. Love both bands immensely, but the influences of both bands couldn't be more different. I've not heard one Radiohead song that reminds me of Queen, Bowie or even Rush. Is it Matt's voice that reminds you of Thom Yorke? Even their falsettos I find very different. I can't agree with you that they've never been good. Over time they've diversified their sound (and yes, some of it is more pop - I do prefer their heavier stuff) - they're not one trick ponies, and I admire that!
Thom X dude shut the fuck up already. Muse has done masterpieces. You’re just a Radiohead fanboy that for some reason hates muse. And btw, Radiohead has never done something as good as the Exogenesis symphony or Cirizen Erased. But of course, you say muse is bad when you only know like 3 songs
He really needed to return some VHS tapes.
Man, I love nostalgia from a time when I wasn't alive. This album provides it perfectly.
probably the name of the album will be Simulation Theory
Ahmirávos I highly agree
Ahmirávos I think it'll be "darkside" like the number plate in the video. Either that or, darkside is another song on the album
Ahmirávos i think it could be part of the theory of dig down and thought contagion
Mr Flibble I think it would make more sense if Darkside was one of the songs on the album. Also, is this gonna be another concept album, like Drones?
Probably more likely to be Retrograde Video given the significance of the name in the video, I'm happy to be proven wrong though.
I LOVE Muse! They are constantly evolving. Because of this, they never get stale. They are unbelievable underrated and one of the last REAL bands out there.
Not sure I'd say they're underrated lol
@@jamesraward lol, you're right. Massive exaggeration on my part.
I dont understand why this song have 11 milion.THIS IS A MASTERPIECE
This is far from "masterpiece". This sounds actually very generic and kinda poppy. But if you like it that's okay.
MUSE!THE BEST BAND IN THE WORLD!!!
yes
Its still got a synth arpeggio, its still got a guitar melody, its still got matts falsetto, its a muse song, if they kept making the same songs since the 90s then they would be exactly like nickleback, people would get bored of their music.
FieryEntertainmentChannel are we talking about muse or a Soundcloud rapper
Mario122 considering i said "matts falsetto" and "muse" in the same section you tell me?
FieryEntertainmentChannel idk men you tell me because You really see these guys copy pasting Their past Albums? lol?
Mario122 im not saying they copy and paste im saying that they still have those few signature muse elements behind this song because people were complaining about it being too different
FieryEntertainmentChannel This song can be all different you want but if A new band Was starting And they released this song, Let me tell you it’s Just not good. But hey you know what they say on the internet! There’s nothing better to give than Positive encouragement. Good for you.
Well this was unexpected, why am I addicted to this? I knew existence of muse but I was not like a hardcore fan...Well now, yes! The whole theme of missing home, human touch, apocalyptic past, 80s aesthetics, and the animation just works together like a charm!
The metaphysical and disclosure aspects are glaring to those with eyes to see and ears to hear.
🤭
I love, love, love Muse, thank you for existing!
I love the variability of this band.
versatility
Gorrillaz HAHAHAHAHAHA
Haha good intent
It still sounds like Muse, it has counterpoint like most of their old song but using synth, acoustic, and electric guitar combined instead (You need to listen using headphone to fully hear all the detail). It has falsetto, long note singing to balance the busy instrument, and solo section of the instrument (but it's very short).
It also has unique time signature and chord progression that you won't find in a generic pop song.
I liked the song and agree it still sounds very Muse-y, but the time signature is not unique at all, is 4/4 all the way. And the chord progression doesn't struck me as too different from pop, but I've only heard the song once. Just a minor comment, because I agree with everything else you said.
EDIT: My bad, there are a few 2/4 bars here and there. Still, not that unusual, but yeah, different enough.
It felt like 2/4 at some point but I could be wrong (4/4 and 2/4 is kinda interchangeable so...).
Based on what I read it has A, Asus4, A7, D, E, F#m, and F#m7 chord in it so it's not like the usual 4 chord pop song, but yeah it doesn't sound too different from pop. Still pretty cool though.
Narendra Utpala Yeah, I agree it's pretty cool! And I think you are right about the 2/4 sections.
My previous comment was coming from (but I think I failed miserably at making it clear lol) the fact that it doesn't matter how complex a song is or not, the band shouldn't be getting such a hard time considering lots of their songs aren't extremely complex. This is Muse, not Dream Theater (thank god! I like DT but if every band were like them I'd live with a permanent headache probably). They are more akin to Queen, which is an intrincate but (some songs aside) not an extremely complex band too (when it comes to time signatures especially).
There's usually this need (I'm not saying you are like this, I'm taking about music fans in general) to uphold complexity over everything when it comes to music, when there are great four-chord songs in 4/4 and awful "let's change the time sig every two bars and use this obscure af scales to compose" songs.
Sorry for the long ass response.
Ahh I see now, yeah I agree with you on the whole complexity thing. Also my original comment was in response to the people in the comment section saying how bad this song is and that they expected something more crazy and experimental (Even though Matt said there'll be more of that kinda stuff in the next album).
Narendra Utpala It sounds like Erasure!
This song makes me want to cry. I love it. So beautiful.
This is so empathetic, angelic, melancholic, hypnotic, & artistic....basically, ALL the good "ic" words.😁💜💟🎵
It’s so positive. It’s so upbeat. It’s so surprising. I love it.
I was really hoping for an explosive climax like Madness or Sing for Absolution throughout the song, especially at around 3:09 which would have been perfect. Oh well, it's still a nice, relaxing song, and Muse is still my favorite band.
With this, I feel Muse have rediscovered their unique style. This is a beautiful, emotive melody. Back to their best!
Jeez the Style and effects for this video are absolutely beautiful!
I've been waiting untill midnight for this
it looks like that)
2:02 TOGETHER WE'RE INVINCIBLE!!!! oh wait... wrong song...
Pedro Coelho i was trying to figure that one out!
Pedro Coelho yes it’s the same
2019 ,Muse still perfect
Whoever directs Muse's music videos does a great job!
You know how some bands just make the same songs over and over? Yeah, Muse is the exact opposite. No two songs that are the same, yet there's still the touch that makes it all Muse. No wonder it's my favorite band.
Except on Drones, Mercy sounded like Starlight, and Psycho like Uprising. Apart from that, I agree, their songs are usually different from each other.
This song sounds a LOT like another Muse track, I just can't put my finger on it yet. And how about Madness & Dig Down? Incredibly similar.
@needsmoreclipping True, I forgot about Dig Down and Madness.
78oit well considering they have over 100 songs it's pretty damn impressive that there's only a couple pairs that sounds similar
Different is not automatically good either.
"I liked the old muse better"
Don't you realise muse had always been changing styles. That's what makes them such a unique and original band.
lambymakesnogoodcontent the first This song sounds like A Little Respect by Erasure.
Yeah, always changing, but being original and proving their versatility. Not playing generic Pop with cheesy lyrics. Original? If you have a brain, you will understand that this and "Dig Down" (and even "Madness", but that one is old) are everything but original.
Zoro on Fire if you had a brain you would understand that I'm not saying all the music is necessarily original, I'm saying that the fact that they have changed so much makes them original. Think what you want about the song but muse has been like this forever.
Muse has not been like thsi forever! What the hell are you even saying? One thing is changing (they always changed) the other is start writing bad songs. And changing from album to album does not make them original, what makes them original is the way they used to use a lot of genres elements in their songs.
Zoro on Fire if you have stopped liking it then just don't come and complain about them.
I'm excited to see them on my birthday! :D
A campfire song by Muse = the Best campfire song EVER written!
