Sonia Cole is American. She was discovered by Bill Cosby in Las Vegas. She was one of the most in demand model of the late 80’s and 90’s. One of the great muses to YSL AND UNGARO. SHE WAS A CELEBRITY BACK THEN AS SHE WAS BOOKED FOR TELEVISION INTERVIEW AFTER SHOWS. She is married and lives in New york and is still gorgeous as ever. Anyone who knows fashion should know about her. All the books being written about all these other girls and not about her, Anna Fiona Scollay, Katoucha Niane, Khadijah, Amalia don’t know their fashion history. Thank you for featuring her. Been obsessed with her since I first met her in Paris at a Dior show in 91. Thank you again
Oh!!!!! Ok yeah this is great thank YOU for sharing! 😊 I love that she’s in NYC! I’ve worked in fashion a long time but I can honestly say all of these girls you’ve mentioned and even Yasmeen Ghauri are just not names that I saw coverage on throughout the past 10-15 years, obviously because most of them retired or retreated from the spotlight early. But I do have those names written down because I want to create more features, they just take time 🙏🏾 but I so appreciate this info and little bit of tea! 💖 I heard about the Vegas Cosby discovery that is just so random haha
I thought Sonia was Black American....not British. She's never had a British accent and grew up in America (Vegas). Whatever the case....SHE IS ONE OF THE BEST CATWALKERS EVERRRRRRRRR.
Thank you to the subscriber(s) who requested Sonia Cole! I'm editing a Vivienne Westwood show next 👀leave me a comment if you wanna say hi! And as always we'll circle back 💖 WATCH IN 1080p60HD!

@@sonyadrake7843Karen Alexander, Roshumba, Iman, Dalma, Anna Baily, and more. Beverly Johnson started in the beginning of the 70s. Here is a good thought, Whitney Houston was also a model. Would she have been a big success? I think so. Another singer that was a model was Sade.
Now that you mention it, maybe what the 80s runway models did stylistically laid the foundation for what the 90s supermodels built on in terms of walk, attitude and the vibes they brought on the runway. I've never heard of Sonia Cole before this video, but she is absolutely fabulous! The glamour she exudes is off the charts!
The 80s girls definitely laid the groundwork! Excellent point. Sonia gives glamour at a high level!!! So cool to see women of color who paved the way for others in the industry.
Gurmit Kaur, Ines de La Fressange, Katoucha and Marpessa are other examples of underrated top models from that era. I feel that these late-80s top models wrote their PhD dissertations on how to work the runway, and Yasmeen Ghauri and Naomi Campbell got full-tenure professorships and took it to a whole different level.
@@MalcolmSoaries There's a 2015 GoFundMe web page of "Sonia Cole-Berry" raising funds for funeral expenses for another top black model of that era--Ann Fiona Scollay--who appeared to have died destitute. Ann Fiona Scollay was a top runway model of the 1980s. Modeled for YSL and all the other top houses.
Sonia is STUNNIG!!! Her walk really reminds me of a mix of Yasmeen & Tyra! Could you react to the Gianni Versace Spring/Summer 1993 Menswear runway show? I'd love to see your reaction to some mens pieces & also, Naomi is in that show! 😆
"Feathers, Frills, Fantabulousness, Jacquard, Structured Shoulder, a Skirt Suit, a Woman in the Conference room & a Lady of the Night" - I love you, this had me dead, want this etched above my bed.
Wow, I never heard of her but so appreciate this find. She hit different. Wow! What a beauty and so effortlessly flawless on that catwalk. Whew! And you? I just adore your energy and commentary lol. You keep me going 😅😅❤️❤️🌸🌸🌸
Sonia Cole Berry is a model who destroyed the catwalk. Yes, she was before Naomi, you can sre late 80's shows with ababy Naomi, and Sonia walking for YSL, and she is British and biracial. Her best model catwalk best friend was the late Anne Fiona Scolley, another ruway "diva" they only did shows it seemed. And back then you had print girls and runway girls. Sonia Cole, after her modeling career, got married to her wife and lives comfortably away from the fashion footlights. Another 90's model you must check out is french model Sylvie Gueguen. Imagine Glenn Close as a model. Now I know what you're thinking, but you'll be blown away by her presence, walk, her double turns, and just fashion drama. There is a RUclips channel compilation of her. Later for now, ☮️ Malcolm 🎉
Ohhhh so Sonia diddddd marry a woman!!! I thought it was just a salacious rumor 😂 she had a fabulous walk. I’ve added Sylvie to my list, thank you for the suggestion! Glenn Close is FABULOUS so I appreciate the reference and I’ll be circling back 🙌🏾☮️💖

her and a lot of her mid-80s contemporaries (ann-fiona scollay, marpessa hennink, michele gresse, katoucha niane etc) were loved by designers and consistently booked for years, its a shame very little is known about her

the woman behind her looking like bella Hadid at 6.00 min is Marpessa Hennink ! Also a great supermodel to add to your list :) :) you will fall in love with her energy.
Malcom Fashion TV back in the 90s interviewed her-I believe she’s American-she said she was a cocktail waitress in Las Vegas when Bill Cosby approached her and they struck up a conversation and he asked her about her career goals-she mentioned she was saving her money to move to Paris and become a fashion model. Then and there Bill Cosby wrote her a check so she could quit her job and move to Paris-
Omg, someone else mentioned that Bill Cosby fact 🥴 a mess lol but omg wow!!! Yeah they also said she and her husband were Hercules and Cleopatra impersonators in Vegas. Unbelievable!
