When I was in Kailua in 8th grade we made paipo boards out of plywood in wood shop with spray paint and sand the sides.Sandy's Makapuu Pipelittles.Then Nalo sandslide.I'm 64 now.
Piapo boards were heaps of fun 1meter long and about 50cm wide the rails were the fin just dig them in and the biggest surf I rode one in was about 15ft back of wave this was back in the early/mid 70s in Australia
I never had the opportunity to GREG Noll .....but used hang with Ricky Griggs as young teenager in DEL MARzhe taught me how to Ride BIG BOARDS... Yearsl layerings taught him how to train bottle nose dolphins.at sea world ... anyway I appreciated him ... he was a hero to me!!!!!!
