Got mine on Ebay back in 2018 for 650 with the flight case. Sold the flight case a few years later for 250 & got a Magma case for 175. I'm still ahead of the game as it works like a charm!!!
Starting on vinal and still using it with a mixer and you can switch across and back to a usb with screens is AMZING love this concept more DJ witch is cool
THAT IS A GREAT REVIEW. Thanks for your time. I tried this controller and jogs are not as good on Thumb drive. but it is a nice controller for anyone looking for all in one device
MCX 8000 was used in our club tonight. The sound can't match our standard set up (nexus2000 + djm 900). The bass wasn't very warm. The sound was flat in general and sounded very cheap in the highs. The mixer in this controller might work for the bedroom or a bar but it's acceptable for a high-end club...
Great video as usual. Thanks for the honest review and thanks for mentioning the backlighting issue with the buttons. I hope Denon is working on addressing that issue.
great review thank you, just dont like the look of the jogwheels nor the weird choice of led ...the way they circle around....instead of in the platter like the ddj sx
Thanks for doing the video in the 8000! It looks like a nice piece of equipment. I am a total newbie when it comes to controllers. I am looking to buy my first controller tomorrow on Memorial Day when they are on sale. I am interested in the 8000. I've toyed around with a couple of them and I would be using a control more with a program like Serato Pro. The one thing I have to question is why are there two separate screens instead of just one? Like when we would mix on the PC we can see both songs side by side and can tell the beat is in sync. When you go to mix can you see two tracks on one of the screens running on the MCX8000 or do they show on both screens? If not then to me, I just think the screens are made to load tracks and the grid running on it is a waste. I am really more interested in the Denon Prime 4 coming out this summer but, I need a controller sooner. I like the Stage linq feature on this controller and the two usbs for the PCs. I like a lot of the features too. Spending money on a controller like this is not an easy decision and there are too many other controllers out there. It's an expensive but, good investment.
I always enjoy your thorough reviews! Thanks for that. :) I've been looking for your review on the MC7000 I can't find it. I probably won't waste that much money on the new controller for mobile gigs so I need options. :) Any thoughts? Thanks! :D
It seems like controller after controller it's still pretty much the same. (Stand alone seems to be the only exception). They're gonna have to blow my mind to pry the ns7III out of my hands.
A controller is just what it says. A controller. It's the software that holds the magic. The only upgrades to new controllers is to match the new functions in the software. You can't expect more from the controllers than what the software gives. That's why they are all almost the same. The only differences they can reasonable have is what you add to them that is not associated with the software, like stand-alone-mode or like the new Roland where you get a pretty good drum machine/sequencer added or the latest Pioneer with built in Video mixing features. Premium controllers like the NS7 that comes with a price to tell them apart from the rest. I'm old school, don't trust computers the least so I'll go with the NXS2 setup from Pioneer. Reliable for years and good enough for me. I only change from one song to another anyway ;) .
IMPORTANT; if you bring this outside your studio, bring a fkn usbstick with the latest firmware... it only happend once during six monts that my unit froze, and the only way to get it going was putting a usbstick with the firmware in the usbport, trust me - that will save you if it freezes and a used usbstick u have already (the denon supportdude answered in 3-4 days giving me a standard answer to update to the latest firmware, which i have done before it froze)
i got it and love it and them mics is great deff on point love entertainment in the clubs has gotten to that point denon got a great secret wit that one grind harder fellas amma still your chic and yup gigs wit this one word up
you can try Prime Series bro. Non-rekordbox or Engine Prime needed. Just copy music to your USB stick and plug in, every information of your tracks will save in your Gear like bpm, key, hot cue, loop cue,... and ready for next time you use them
- Did they come with an update of the software which supports 4 tracks in Engine? - Does the Tune Play work in standalone with Engine? - Does the sampler work in standalone with Engine? - Do u need Serato on laptop to set BPM, cuepoints, loops, grids & samples? or can it be done from/on the standalone device and Engine?
This does a lot more than the SX2, but also costs significantly more. For me, the ability to play without a laptop would swing it for the MCX8000, I think.
I had 2 SX2'S and had nothing but problems. Eventually sent them both back and bought this bad boy. Absolutely love it. The mirrored layout took a while to get used to, but other than that it is amazing. Worth every penny. Shop around and you can get it for less than the $1299 price.
Am i the only one who hates this mirrored layout? Why everyone else (but Pioneer) does this? Personally i haven't meet any deejay who would prefer the pitch fader/other related buttons on the left... Nice review as always, but i stick to the Pioneers. (as always. :D)
I got one last week. Who has heard that the cross fader dies fast. Mine did. They are sending me a replacement. I think I have made a bad purchase. I have 1 more week to take it back to Guitar Center. Its amazing. But I cannot believe that fader bleeds sound after 1000 crap scratches in 2 days. I have a radio shack mixer from 1987 that doesn't bleed. Insane. Anyone heard this is a cursed controller?? Or did I just get a bad one? Thanks.
I'm using it currently, but Denon abandoned the MCX 8000 updates and converter in the new Engine prime software so.. that sucks. The hardware is easy to use best as a controller.
Can you use standalone mode (playing 2 channels in usb mode) and laptop mode sumuktaneously with this controller (e.g. one dj with usb-stick and one with laptop playing Back to Back)
It's a matter of flipping the switch from PC to Mixer to Aux on Channels 1 & or 2. I go back & forth like that. My Aux is setup with my tablet loaded with Spotify on standby.
Standalone mode is awesome on this thing and u want it in case your laptop shits the bed. Damn people complain and say shit that will get something like the s4 or rb2 lol and wanna talk shit about this
One is standalone one requires a computer. What do you need to do? If you want the ability to use it without a computer then get this. If you'll always have a computer then go with which one you prefer the layout of. I would personally go for the DDJSX2, the DDJRZ, or the DDJRX.
Funny, I am the complete opposite. My own personal preference for controllers is mirrored. It separates them from the sadly idolised CDJ. Controllers are not a step for CDJs and the mirrored facial gives the complete all in one image and does not look like a cheap alternative to CDJs . I do understand the push behind the ddj 400 and it’s something to consider if you are intending to move to CDJs but for me something like the MC7000 is a true controller with absolutely no need to emulate a CDJ. Controllers are an individual DJ format and keeping a mirrored layout strengthens that mean. It’s a bit sad hearing DJs crying like spoilt kids when using controllers that are mirrored or even not mirrored, stop crying like a spoilt child full stop! Controllers are not CDJs.
Heres one big reason not to buy Denon, if you ever have to order parts for it you have to order them from overseas if you live in the United States and their ridiculously priced. Stick with pioneer.
Nice unit. Picked one up for kicks and I don't regret it. Don't underestimate Denon.

100% agree it should be reverb instead of echo. Though i have used the echo to serve a similar function for singers at weddings.
poodlelord is it possible to add external effects and still use it as a stand alone?
One of the best Reviews i watch, Thank you DJcity...
THAT IS A GREAT REVIEW. Thanks for your time. I tried this controller and jogs are not as good on Thumb drive. but it is a nice controller for anyone looking for all in one device
Was that with files which had been exported from Engine? I found it hard to tell much difference between the performance with those vs Serato DJ
I think so, I saw it at a store and tried it out for a bit. maybe it was engine. I want to try it with Serato DJ.

Thank you for your reviews. Very very helpfull. Very very profesional. All way down from México. A DJ fan.
awesome product Denon & Serato, thanks for the video Mojaxx
In 2022 is this still a good buy. Seems like bar a touchscreen its pretty much identical to the pioneer rx3. Except 4 channel
great review thank you, just dont like the look of the jogwheels nor the weird choice of led ...the way they circle around....instead of in the platter like the ddj sx
Nice job...very detailed without losing me!
As a DJ that has been spinning for about 6 months, would this be an appropriate purchase?
Great review, thanks Mojax!
Can you tell me the track you have playing at the end (which I think is the same as the very beginning) of this video?
Great review, thanks. Any thoughts on how this stacks up against the Pioneer SZ?
Martin Kearney Hard to compare the two. The MCX is kind of in a class of its own since its price is not designed to be a competition to the SZ

The compatibility with song files is the reason I left Engine. It was very inconsistent and a hassle to try and fix myself.
Exactly, half my songs are unsupported on Engine. It's a great Serato controller but calling it standalone is a stretch.
Can you link any cdj from denon in 2022? 🤔 trying to step up to 3 decks for the low lmfao
It seems like controller after controller it's still pretty much the same. (Stand alone seems to be the only exception).

yeah i dont like the pitch faders placed like that .Im not a fan of controllers but if i had to use this in a dj booth i would be happy

Scooped one for $800 brand new. Can't complain!
Where'd you find a deal like that?
Craigslist hahaha.. I lucked out. Hadn't even been taken out the box yet.
Rich Forever nice dude
u still rockin wit it? might cop 1 for 750
Any idea has their been an update for the MCX8000 that makes it compatible with rekordbox usbs?
you can try Prime Series bro. Non-rekordbox or Engine Prime needed. Just copy music to your USB stick and plug in, every information of your tracks will save in your Gear like bpm, key, hot cue, loop cue,... and ready for next time you use them
thank you is a nice controller and the price is down i check later on amazon
I didn't buy this only because of the job wheels. This really should by have the motorized platters from the 5500 or 3900s
Numark has de S series, motorized platters on them. :P
The real thing that put me off was the track search feature, was just "skip to first letter of track".
- Did they come with an update of the software which supports 4 tracks in Engine?
- Does the Tune Play work in standalone with Engine?
- Does the sampler work in standalone with Engine?
- Do u need Serato on laptop to set BPM, cuepoints, loops, grids & samples? or can it be done from/on the standalone device and Engine?
hello sir may i please you this can you please make a vid on how to change the mc7000 Platter Touch Sensitivity
Great review sir...
Sorry to say but Pioneer DDJ-RXZ has became the Beats Headphones while MCX 8000 has jz kicked their ass in this range.
which would u take Mojaxx this one or ddj sx2
This does a lot more than the SX2, but also costs significantly more. For me, the ability to play without a laptop would swing it for the MCX8000, I think.

Denon mcx8000 or pioneer ddj sx2???
Emmanuel Robert Fundamentally, the MCX-8000 is a better device.
Joe Lewis Thx
Still someone using this controller today?
Yep I’ve gigged mine regularly for 6/7 years and it’s been absolutely rock solid 👍
I'm using it currently, but Denon abandoned the MCX 8000 updates and converter in the new Engine prime software so.. that sucks. The hardware is easy to use best as a controller.

Why not recognize ssd with usb adapter?
Any Draw backs?
More fx options denon! Stock options on this are so poor considering what's on their hardware mixers
what's the background song in the beginning
is the function in 5.34 able in pioneer ddj sx2?
Mikołaj Gurzyński Have to have the license for pitch and play plug-in. The 8000 comes with it.
My demon DJ mcx8000 is not working with my serato DJ. What can I do?
Nwachukwu Justus Update your drivers for serato and make sure that you have the mcx8000 driver installed
NICE
Mojaxx you didn't mention price
Yeah, didn't realise until I'd finished the edit! It's currently $1299 on Amazon.
I think it's $1299
Just add a motorised platters and i'm on it! :)
I wish they'd release an asymmetrical version, so we have the choice, then they can take my money, that and a fix on the brightness.
When it's all said and done the whole standalone thing is just going to remind people why they moved to computers in the first place.
Well it's a posh backup device imo, beats playing a mix CD and having to stand back, although luckily this has never happened for me.
I like it for back-up, not primary playback.
Standalone mode is awesome on this thing and u want it in case your laptop shits the bed. Damn people complain and say shit that will get something like the s4 or rb2 lol and wanna talk shit about this
Sx2 or mcx8000

$1299???? I'll pass
The Price to performance ratio is far better than a $1500 XDJ RX, which is only 2 channels and 1 screen....
get your money playa grind harder
DENNIS DANIEL shid, It took me years just to get a pair of Denon dns3700's.
the traktor kontrol S5 is much cheaper and comes with traktor.
come over man I'm grinding almost any day of the week i
All these controllers are so similar and so expensive you're not gonna get anyone to switch anymore
Heres one big reason not to buy Denon, if you ever have to order parts for it you have to order them from overseas if you live in the United States and their ridiculously priced. Stick with pioneer.
