    Project Description:
    *****
Today, we are going to use the Lilygo IoT development board as a GPS Tracker. On this development board the ESP32 WiFi + Bluetooth module, the SIM7600G-H 4G LTE module, and GPS antenna are already wired up for you, so you don’t need to do any wiring. Not only this, it also has a holder for the Lithium Ion battery which makes this IoT development board perfect for GPS tracking applications and other IoT based projects.
I have already made a getting started video on this amazing piece of hardware; where I explained its technical specifications, onboard components, and lots of other things. In that video, I also practically demonstrated how to control some LEDs and generate feedback messages just to confirm whether that particular load is Turned ON or Turned OFF.
And I also explained, how to monitor a sensor by sending a request command through a text message. So, if you are just getting started with this IoT development board then I highly recommend you should watch my previous video. Because, today I won’t explain the technical specifications.
This is going to be the simplest GPS tracking System and it can be build by anyone throughout the world. This is only possible because of the SIM7600G-H 4G LTE module which works with all the GSM networks throughout the world. The SIM7600G-H is also backward compatible with 3G and 2G networks.
The SIM7600G-H module has proven its capability to send and receive text messages flawlessly, and this is a statement I can confidently make based on my personal experience. However, I have yet to explore its GPS connectivity, which raises several intriguing questions.
is it powerful enough that it can connect to a GPS satellite while it’s inside a room or we will have to take it outside like most of the other GPS modules including the Neo 6M GPS module.

About 19 or 20 years ago I put together a GPS tracking shock force recording package for some sensitive commercial material. I was able to show the tracking along with shock forces displayed on the google map. This was right before the smart phone era. You would not believe how expensive it was to do at that time. Now anyone can do it easily without corporate support.

Awesome! How long can the board stay powered from a standard lithium ion battery?

This seems like a good idea for a vehicle tracker. But how do you connect it to your car battery or ignition that is 12v?
Do you connect a 5v usb cable to one of the programming ports?
Or do you need to make a voltage regulator at 3.3v-4.2v to the VBAT pin?
Thanks for the great work and video

Waiting for my hardware to try this.
I obtained my SIMs from Hologram here in U.S.
Many years ago, I did the same thing with Intel 8052 and assembly language.

Thanks for this great tutorial, may you do one where once the vehicle is moved or stolen than the module sends you and alert to which you can start tracking the vehicle.

I think there is no need. But still if you want then you can solder it on the top side.

you'll need to set up an api of your own (say in nodejs or Azure/AWS) then integrate it with the google maps api
