The city is so spacious (has wide streets) than many other new cities talk of Mbarara, Jinja although Jinja is more physically well planned, which thing I really do love. But as mentioned, the wide beautiful streets needs to be maintained clean.
De Muslim university in Mbale was a brainchild of Iddi Amin. It was going to be de first University in independent UG bcos Makerere University was set by de colonial govt. Why did he choose Mbale, I don’t know but I guess Amin didn’t hav parochial mentality. He started off with handful of big projects over country but he didn't live to see them into effect, eg de Lake Katwe salt project in Kasese, Muslim University in Mbale, de refurbishment of UG railways Corp after he introduced de city rail service in Kla etc.
This Mbale City has well designed wide streets. In fact, better than your capital city of Kampala, as I can see from this video. But sad to tell you, this city is dirty! Why do the residents here, throw rubbish on their streets? Black polythene bags blowing left and right. This is shameful. Can the municipality not provide simple trash cans? How much does a trash bin cost to fabricate? Do the residents not know that garbage on their pavements can be a source of diseases? Why does the city not buy just 2 street-sweeping trucks, which can clean this tiny place in one day? Also, the pavement is broken in so many areas. It should be replaced. The buildings need a fresh coat of paint, as well. What do the urban authority think of all these eye sores in their locality? There is not a single tree anywhere, no flowers, no grass. This is all in all, a concrete jungle. Not beautiful.

I cannot agree you more especially on trees . This can be a very beautiful city , but apparently let down by city managers.
