    Not bad for a 35 year old, not bad at all. Even gave us a left-handed free throw. Just another day in the office. No sweat.

    you can see how efficient Jordan was with his moves and his scoring. Unlike Kobe, Westbrook, Harden, or Curry, he didn't use too many dribbles to get off a jumpshot. MJ jumped as high as he would on a layup to shoot his jumpshot instead of arching the ball high to get it over the defender. He played within the triangle system and didn't need to handle the ball for most of the shot clocks. Most people forget that the reason Lebron, Westbrook or Harden fill the stats is because they handle the ball for the majority of the 24 second shot clocks. When you have the ball 15-20 seconds on every possession, you're supposed to get more assist. They haven't learned to be effective and efficient like MJ.

    • @glennweber9290
      @glennweber9290 6 лет назад +29

      100% ^THIS^
      The drive and kick, ball dominant, 30 dribbles per possession style of the modern NBA is actually more selfish than having your primary offensive option shoot 23 shots. Jordan was fitting into a system and had a role. Same as Pippen, same as Dennis, same as Kerr. You look at the long standing success of teams like Chicago under Jackson and San Antonio under Pop, and you see superstars and hall of famers fitting into systems and being better players for it.
      The LeBron system starts and ends with LeBron. It reduces his all star teammates to catch and shoot players, particularly when it comes to his all star bigs (Bosh, Love). And look at the results.... mixed at best.

    • @chrisx2k6
      @chrisx2k6 6 лет назад +11

      Beautifully said. No offensive system. No flow. LeBron makes it happen for himself or whoever else, EVERY TRIP. That doesn't improve your teammates. Hands are cold when they get the ball, pressure is on to make the shot. Even more pressure when you've missed the first one. Stats from prior years with other teams don't translate well, as teammates aren't comfortable and loose on the floor.

      @tony tonyt no they don't, but look at all his personal achievements. Going to 9 finals doesn't make u the greatest. He's 3-6. Got bailed out on 2 by ray Allen and kyrie Irving. James is top 10, but he ain't better than Jordan.

      @tony tonyt every team he beat in the finals had either 2 all stars or 2 hall of famers. At least he didn't team up with other stars to win. He had to wait until pippen and grant both matured before he started winning. James ran to Miami cause he couldn't beat Boston with Allen, Garnett and pierce. That's facts!!!

  • @bballmemories
    @bballmemories 6 лет назад +11

    Most people say that MJ can't fill the stats like Lebron, Westbrook, or Harden but they forget the fact that in 88-89 MJ avg. 32/8/8. Doug Collins switched him to point guard at MID SEASON and he had 10 triple doubles in 11 games. He could've averaged triple double if he'd done it all season. Filling up the stats line like Lebron, Westbrook, and Harden is really overrated. Like in my earlier comment, if you handle the ball 15-20 seconds of the shot clock, you're supposed to to get more assists. Also, if you're a perimeter defender and goes in to the paint to grab rebounds, you're leaving your man for open shots when there is offensive rebound. It shows that even on defense, you don't trust your big guys are capable of getting rebounds. You can't win championship with a ball dominant player.
    People might say what about Magic, he handled the ball a lot and average almost a triple double. Well, Magic got most of his assists not from holding the ball for most of the shot clocks. The Lakers played fast break basketball and in the NBA, the average fast break takes around 5 seconds or less. Magic was so good with his passes, he didn't need to hold on to the ball for 15-20 seconds and most of his assists came on the break. When the Lakers had to play half court offense, they had a system with Kareem or Worthy in the post. Magic didn't dribble 20-30 times and threw it to the post player.

  • @ThePrufessa
    @ThePrufessa 4 года назад +7

    If you take away his athleticism (his leaping ability) but still leave him with his speed his game was very very basic. His crossover is as basic as they get. But it's just as deadly as the most flashy and exaggerated crossovers. His moves are so subtle. He doesn't waste any movement. His entire game was about efficiency. From his shot selection (and shot making ability) to his moves on the court he made everything count.

    One thing that stands out regarding the goat debate is that to my eye and many others is the fact that Jordan was beautiful in the way he moved and executed his plays. Reminds one of a ballet dancer, or a conductor of symphony orchestra. Watch Lebron drive to the basket, it looks like a bull in a China shop. I thought that Kareem and Hakeem were also beautiful/graceful in there play. I enjoy watching a artist at work.

    Why did he shoot it left handed? Anyone? Was it because of Mutombo again?

      Bill Infante Just to show off a little with the game well in hand and to give Dikembe some grief.

    04:06 MJs in between the legs penetration while in traffic is the best and most basic cross over move ever... Very effective due to the lesser energy it takes to go from right to left and vice versa. 😎

    I never knew he shot a free-throw left-handed, for sport. One time he did against tha Cavs in, I think, tha '93 Playoffs, cuz his wrist was hurting.

    You know a player is good when he initiates his own shot and the defense is barely there to stop him.

    No player comes close to MJ, no where on or in the same planet. It’s an insult and disrespectful to say that Kobe was close or LeBrongevity is the greatest...

    Some of MJ's shots will be easily converted in today's game with 3 steps, instead of 2 in those days.

    Two questions about Jordan's statistics. What's his technical free throw percentage? I don't think I've ever seen him miss one and it's gotta be well over 90%. And what are his shooting splits when comparing his first half (before retirement) and second half? Or even compare pre first title splits to after first title would be better because all I've ever heard was Jordan couldn't shoot when he first entered the league. But from what I've seen his bad shooting nights are few and far in between when he was young and seasoned.

    The funny part about the free throws is that he bricked the first one normally and then just looked at the fans and said fuck it

    Instead of stat padding, MJ would just demonstrate how big that gap is between him and the second greatest played of all time is by swishing his free throws with his eyes closed or with his left hand... unlike somebody who called themselves the goat but can't make his free throws with his eyes open and especially in the 4th quarter😂
