    • @peterdavis9760
      @peterdavis9760 8 лет назад +7

+Shadowserg I've fought Slogra a bunch of times, and one thing I discovered is that he occasionally CHARGES YOU IN HIS FIRST PHASE. You know, like how he lunges with his beak, only he uses his lance instead.
Obviously, ducking isn't going to help you there.
Maybe I was doing something special to provoke him, but if it's random, that means a bit of bad luck could ruin a no-damage run.
I really hope this isn't the case. Slogra is one of my favorite bosses in the entire series, and would ruin it for me if the fight was luck-based.

To be fair, the original Rondo of Blood came before Castlevania 4. The SNES port might've come later, but it's a port of an older, more polished game that deserves a lot more respect than what it gets.
Also, Castlevania 4 was originally intended as a remake but it was far too different from the original Castlevania and was instead localised as a sequel to Simon's quest. Canonically that means this is a follow-up to Castlevania 2.

    • @jakepillow7809

@@whitesonicex ok so this is a 2 year old comment so maybe soemthing changed but this game is a reimagining of the original castlevania with different levels but the same story much like rondo and dracula x but like those games only one is canon due to story changes but due to the lack of story changes 1 and super 4 are replacable and you decide which you want to be canon despite this being my second favourite castlevania (behind rondo, i've never played symphony) I prefer putting the original as the canon game.

Just some cool, pre-fight dialogue ideas I came up with.
Narrator: "Dracula watched Simon's progress with growing unease. The Belmont had faced incredible challenges, as well as the strongest evils the Count could muster, but nothing would hinder him. Simon was so determined in his quest that he would not take the time to rest even after the most exhausting of tasks. Now, as the stoic Belmont marched towards the Count's throne room, while dawn approached just as quickly, Dracula realized that something needed to be done."
Dracula: "Death, I require your aid once again! The Belmont threatens everything I have worked for so far. You must end him at all costs. He cannot be allowed to continue!"
Death: "Yes, my lord. It shall be done. Slogra! Gaibon! This Belmont must perish!"
Shortly after, Simon reaches the Hall of Close Associates (the boss rush hall) and is confronted by Slogra.
Simon: "Do not attempt to stop me, beast. I have slain far stronger creatures than you."
Slogra: "I'm sure you have, Belmont. However, you'll still find me to be more than enough of a challenge, even for someone of your abilities. My speed is unparalleled, and I have mastered the art of melee combat. But enough mindless prattle, let our skills speak for themselves!"
Later, before the fight with Gaibon:
Simon: "You cannot hope to defeat me, creature. Much stronger foes have tried and failed."
Gaibon: "Prideful and arrogant, just like those who came before you. Do not be so quick to dismiss those who you presume to be beneath you. I may not appear powerful or dangerous, but looks can easily deceive. Someday, such hubris will be your downfall!"
And finally, just before the fight against Death himself.
Simon: "Don't bother attempting to intimidate me. I fear Death no more than I fear any other evil in this castle."
Death: "Ah, Belmonts. So unafraid of the concept of their own mortality - right until the very end. All mortal 'heroes' eventually meet their demise, what makes you any different? You fight over the course of centuries to defeat a foe who is unkillable in an endurance race you can never win. Even if you best me now, you will still end up under my control, sooner or later. However, I can tell that you are not the kind of person to give up even under impossible odds. In that case, Belmont, I welcome you. Come! Join me - as we dance the waltz of your demise."

@sukotsutoclone2, I don't think Simon had the energy. First of all he is wearing armor, so he has to carry extra weight. Second this is the last stage, so all of that crap you had to do to get to this point must have made Simon tired. Third, Simon doesn't get to rest. When you beat a stage, you get the orb, it goes to the map screen, and now Simon has to go through another stage.

and then one of my friends started watching me play. As he watched me, I killed that boss and got through death. When I got to Dracula,
Another friend started watching me. The two watched me as I fought through his 1st and 2ndphases. I also had the music on, so when I got to the third phase,
and theme of Simon Belmont started playing. When the beat dropped on that song, every single boy in the class was huddled around my computer as I killed his final form and tea bagged on the last bat.

I played this on the castlevania anniversary collection and the only way I could beat dracula was by using savestates at the lightning bit, if I didnt use savestates it would have taken me weeks

Symphony of the Night is actually the 4th game, the true Castlevania 4 if you will, in the series.
If you think about it... IV or 4 here on SNES/SFC, is a remake of Castlevania 1. 2 on nes is an extension, also starring Simon from CV1. CV3, or Akumajo Densetsu, is the 3rd game, but, it's a prequel. The main Belmont in that game is Trevor, an ancestor of Simons.
In Rondo of Blood, the once Japanese exclusive, that latef came to America on PSP, that games main character, Richter Belmont, is a future Belmont after Simon.
In Symphony of the Night, or Dracula X Nocturne in the Moonlight (Rondo of blood is called Dracula X in Japan), Richter is the main character, with a young Maria, that you can only unlock as playable after saving her.
In Symphony, the game stars Alucard, playable in Castlevania 3.
I make this comment for a large audience so they dont have to research it all to understand.
I also write/ wrote this, so , I could confirm for myself, whether or not I was indeed the first person to call Castlevania Symphony of the Night, the true Castlevania 4.

Man, that’s some BULL. SHIT. right there. All those times I lost to Death and all you have to do is stand in one spot and hold the whip vertical. I’m so pissed right now lol

I feel that the final phase of the Dracula fight could've been more insane like the skulls appear while he's shooting lightning or he does what he did in the first part where he shot those fire balls that split into other fire balls when hit with the lightning.

That was amazing. I literally just beat the game...I know, I'm a late-comer. And, I was in high school when this came out, so guess I was busy at the time. That Slogra boss was quite demanding...still don't know he avoided the nose poke...it was almost like he was controlling the boss too😜
