New to pc gaming and mods and had a question for you. I’d like to game with a buddy on BG3 but he doesn’t want to mod. Is there a way for me to game modded and with him somehow ? Thanks 🤙🏽
@@generalmayhem8318 Most mods won't allow you to do that. There are some which are considered "client side", but you will be extremely limited in terms of options since all of them mostly make some minor adjustments or add some minor configuration options. If you want examples, there is "Baldur's Priority - CPU Performance FPS Optimizer", "Native Camera Tweaks", "No Press Any Key Menu" and "Better Containers" just to name a few, but like I said, they only add some quality of life or change some minor aspects of the game, no extra content like armor, weapons or character classes. i'd say you are better of waiting for the next big update (patch 7) which will add a built in modding configuration tool that will most likely change your friends mind, or not :D
@@guilhermeokada4168 The idea I had was just to buy the game a second time under a different profile and store it on a separate ssd in my rig. Would that work as well? I’ve already stripped all the mods out so I can multiplayer with my buddy and wait for the new patch to drop. Thanks for all the advice!
@@generalmayhem8318 sorry man only just seen your comment. The easiest way would just be to use BG3 mod manager and have 2 profiles, one for your own playthrough and a seperate non modded profile for playing with a friend. That way you won’t need to copies of the game as the mods will be deactivated when in the non modded profile. I’ve got a video on installing mods which shows BG3MM if you’re not familiar. Let me know if you have any other questions!
@@generalmayhem8318 If you want to quickly swap it's no problem at all, @VeteranJoystick already answered that question right here, you just need to use two diferent saved profiles in BG3 mod manager. Read his comment for more details.
@@mistersandman5811 Apparently, console owners can only download and install mods not create them. Also, it seems that console manufacturers do not allow mods that alter the base story or add any substantial content beyond new classes, items, spells, or other minor tweaks.
Might I recommend the “Fizban’s Treasury of Dragons - Dragonborn” race mod? This one does not actually add a new race but instead massively overhauls the already existing Dragonborn race with new subraces and abilities!
I'm so psyched that you made another one of these videos! : ) I really appreciate how you showcase the racial traits and features in detail for each modded race! It's a big help. The Nexus site seems not to have this info available still. Do I understand correctly that you can't cast any spells with a verbal component as Lizardfolk? If you make another video, the races I'd be very interested to see are: - Shadar-kai (Fantastical Multiverse) - Yuan-ti (Fantastical Multiverse) - Yuan-ti Pureblood (Fantastical Multiverse) - Reborn (Fantastical Multiverse) - Downcast (Fantastical Multiverse) I don't know if these others from Fantastical Multiverse are available currently in the mod (I think they were at one point?), but I would also very much like to see: - Nephilim - Moroi - Malformed - Mushussu - Draconblood dragonborn Aside from ones by Fantastical Multiverse, I'd also be interested to see the Half-Dragon, and the Half Demon (Cambion), and particularly any "light", more balanced variants those mods have. Thanks again for you videos!
You’re very welcome! Glad you enjoyed it! Sorry no, to clarify lizardfolk can’t cast verbal spells when using their hold breath ability. Outside of this they can cast normally! I plan on making another video, Reborn were going to be in this one but I didn’t get the time. I’ll be sure to include your suggestions next time. Thanks for your support 🙏🏻
@@VeteranJoystick Hey : ) Thanks for the reply and for the clarification. I completed a mod-free good aligned play through of BG3 with some friends, and we're planning a new modded evil campaign once the official mod support comes out with patch 7. In getting ready for that I made tons of notes on the character build I want to do, (Astarion as Dark Urge, Shadow Sorc/Warlock) and I've been trying to choose what race I want to go with for him. The hold up is a) I've been intimidated to try modding, and b) I can't get the details, as I mentioned above, on the racial features just by reading the mods on Nexus. So that's why your videos have been such a delight and a help for me. I was wondering if you happen to know whether any mods we install before patch 7 will cause conflicts when using the official modding, and if we might end up having to uninstall and reinstall not just the mods but also the whole game?
@@myrrhbear That’s great to hear! Glad I could help! And yes unfortunately a new update tends to cause issues with installed mods, but the mod authors are normally super quick in updating them to get them working again! If you use BG3 Mod Manager to install your mods then you can just setup 2 profiles, one with mods and one without, so you can easily switch between the 2!
@@VeteranJoystick So if I use Mod Manager, and I find any conflict, if I switch to a profile without any mods, it should work without problem? Or are there some mods that change things that switch Mod Manager profiles doesn't fix, that you know of?
I would love to see your opinion regarding the "Followers of Zerthimon" mod, which features the Githzerai as a playable race in Baldur's Gate 3. I feel that it was a wasted opportunity to not include them when they have as much of a connection to the Mind Flayers as their Githyanki brethren, so getting an opportunity to play a Githzerai Monk, even if it's a mod, is a welcome one. Lore wise, it's plausible for the Githzerai to make an appearance during the game's events. Though their home is in the plane of Limbo, the Githzerai also keep several outposts in the Underdark which act as observation posts of any and all Githyanki and Mind Flayer activity. So, it's highly logical for a Githzerai to have been captured by the Mind Flayers and teleported to the Nautiloid. Also, the possibility of a Githzerai and a Githyanki (Lae'zel) falling in love despite the mutual animosity between their races (especially if you choose to save Orpheus) is one I cannot pass up.
Your videos are very good, they are fantastic. If you could make a video on how to install this race mod, it would be great, it would also help a lot of people.
@VeteranJoystick first adventure I ever dm'd, way back in the 2nd ed days, I gave my friends mid-high level adventurer party more of a challenge by throwing them into a Kobald den than I did having them tromp through an underground undead city I initially planed. That's weird, i downloaded the bug bear, moved the pak file into mods folder, and all that stuff and for some reason the bug bear is just an orange orc in my game.
