Can't just port a game from another system without having a source code. GTA3's source has been fan reverse-engineered years ago, so while porting it to DC was an absolutely astonishing fit, the devs had a very solid starting point. So if people want more ports of their favorite 6th gen games to DC, PC or whatever - they should start reverse-engineering!: )

Literally every time you exit and enter a vehicle, the radio station audio would reset and start again, which - in a game that's entirely revolving around stealing cars all the time - is *infuriating*. The worst one you could get was that one Japanese station, the DJ of which screams like a maniac in the beginning of the audio track. Imagine hearing THAT every time you leave the car and get back into it. Every. Single. Time. This is such a shame, because all the other aspects of this port are top-notch, the game plays and looks exactly like its PC counterpart. But the only way to enjoy it on the Dreamcast is to play with music / sound turned off.
Outrun 2 is one I want to see on Dreamcast. It went to Xbox, then got ported as Outrun Coast 2 Coast for PC, PS2, Xbox, and even the PSP, but neither GameCube nor Dreamcast where it would've been right at home.

I feel like Rockstar couldn't have done it back in the day. Mainly cause there's deadlines for games like this, and this is really only possible by making heavy cuts to the quality and using tricks that we only know after years of Dreamcast development. Some limits like audio compression, image compression, and loading from disc have a capped limit of what you can actually do.
Idk this one feels more deliberate-intentional. Quite literally, Rockstar Games snagged a deal with Sony for a timed exclusive release of GTA 3 as long as they could utilize the new hardware, months after Sega announced discontinuation of future game systems and just as Microsoft announced shipping for the o.g. Xbox. The sixth gen could’ve been different had either Sega or Microsoft got their hands on GTA 3.
@@LobotomyDC no, PS2 is 27 FPS average with motion blur active (with motion blur, the framerate drop to average 17/18 on Dreamcast). oh, and the game crash on CD because Dreamcash drive is too slow to run the game properly. So it's not running really on real hardware

Windows gave me a warning for a Trojan for something called "Sabsik" coming from the Dreamcast sdk program, looked it up and it says it's not good, am I alright to ignore that?
Spikeout and Slashout for the Dreamcast, I believe it was a Naomi game so it would've been easy to port over like they did all the other ones. Shame we only had the original Xbox Spikeout until it was on one of the newer Yakuza titles

The Android version is funny, it runs great on the Galaxy S2, but the Xperia Play (the so called "gaming phone") struggled to maintain 30 fps at the time. Newer Android versions straight up refuse to launch it despite it being perfectly functional on a rooted Android 14 device for some reason.
@@Alexander-ix2jp The DC CPU is 4 times slower than the PS2 CPU. The DC GPU is 5 to 10 times slower than the PS2 GPU. GD ROM is 5 times slower than PS2 DVD. But the framerate is stabilizing. They have lowered the polycount of some models and about 2-3 times lowered the draw distance. They use fake SD instead of super slow GD ROM. But the framerate is stabilizing.

San Andreas is not impossible. Sega does what the others don't, it'll do SA just fine with some optimization. Same goes for all the other games that you mentioned.

It's better to play it on Xbox or PC, the PS2 version is still half the frame rate of the PC version, has the horrendous motion blur, and has a slight input lag that, while not rendering the game "unplayable" is still enough to notice the delay from button presses to character movements. This port is definitely one mostly for the diehards of the GTA fandom than anything though, for just playing the game, the PC or Xbox versions will definitely be the better option. Although it's a tremendous effort on the port makers' part regardless.
Impressive but it defeats the purpose of playing in older consoles IMO I still have a PS2 GBA & ps1&ps2 cds & gba cartriges Even though i could play those games in a emulador, i choose the old console to relive those days i spent playing with my friends not to make my old console a emulator itself
Not emulation fully native port and of the pc version not the ps2 so got nothing to do with the ps2 this is the pc version and newer then the ps2 version need the new pc stream version to play this pretty much tells you .. Incidentally, the resetting radio issue was also present in the Dreamcast port of GTA2.

The GTA 3 soundtrack is underappreciated. I might not have found Triumph by Wu Tang Clan without this game.

San Andreas is too heavy. It really pushed the limits of PS2. Vice city should be technically possible

It’s interesting but for actually playing it’s probably better to do it on a PS2.

It was always possible, but I prefer the PC version. The Dreamcast version is a waste of time.
The base of the Dreamcast version is the PC Version.
