Great review Lee. Been waiting for this :)
far too fast for my skill level and its really loud not good for a stealthy flight. honest review as always. stay safe Lee
Thanks - Great review! It helped me to know that I will never buy&fly anything that loud and manually almost not flyable. I am easily annoyed by anything loud, so I think I will focus on a silent twin plane, because I also like long endurance and distance flights.
You'r the man as always you explained every thing perfectly
Great review, thanks Lee! Unfortunately, IMHO unjustifiably expensive! $135 for the kit version + p&p can buy me at least double the amount of quality foam, so I'm afraid it'll never be in my fleet at that price!
I just paid $109 pnp free shipping from bg ..seems like the pnp version motor and esc are nice quality..
The Alpha strike jet look so cool I can't wait to build that one
Looks super fun! I've got one ready to maiden. :D
Sick looking little plane! Need to get myself a little speed demon :-)
Done any 3D printed plane reviews? I'd consider printing you the parts and sending you one if you like?
Nice flight, your Horizont Mode looks so smooth.. on my dart250g i must go acro or ist shaky as hell (didnt done autotune.. so far). Total i lost one of the little black winglets at the 2.start. But it flew. Little windshaky, but ok. Searched for the winglet.. but weeds and Gras was to high xD
Fantastic flying and review, Lee! 😃
I really hope they make a version of it with a big EDF motor! 😂
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Yeah I have a couple 50mm EDF units I am thinking of sticking in mine!
@@limeyfpv2282 If you do, please post a flight video! I just subscribed there! 😃
hey lee do you ever get hot heat on your vtx sitting on the bottom of the back my tbs vtx dont like sitting on the bottom it has to have a steady air flow to keep it cool i havent flown this wing yet but i am looking forward to it
What fun! You have a lovely site to fly. Everything is so nicely groomed in England. Think, I'll get a few flights on other models before I attach this beautiful monster. lol
With a little experience this is a very fun model to fly. Follow up video with all of my setup tips on the channel very soon... Stay tuned!
Had to order one. It just looks cool. Love the spaceship look. This will probably be catapult launched bc i want to keep my fingers.
Always take care near a spinning prop. We've all got ours intact ;)
Another helpful review looking forward to the Delta Strike version 😉
Me too - Mine is on the way!
Very informative video with fpv being the main point on this rocket. Very cool but not my type of bird. I do have some rockets though so this one won't be missed.
Sounds as loud as my old Durafly Sidewinder and just as fast Lee. Looks good though. I wonder if my motor from the Sidewinder would work in this model?
is that shape better for windy days?
Very glad I watched this. Was considering doing something silly and making this my first wing.
Check out the AtomRC Dolphin... Simply wonderful... Happy flying
@@Painless360 I'm a little torn between that and the ZOHD Dart XL. They've both been given such high praise, and they're both real beauties too.
Dolphin over the Dart XL. See my videos on it.
I just bought one. The noise thing is to be expected since you have high rpm and the air delivered to the prop is really messy. I don't like noise. I'm going to fly it as supplied and then I'm going to put the motor on a pylon so the the prop will be in clean air. It definitely is a great looking plane.
Spot on. The same goes for models like the Draks, E-wings and others. Covered in some detail in my motor and prop series. Pushing the motor back half an inch can make all the difference to the airflow, sound and top speed.. Happy flying!
Comes with jet sounds on during landing 😄
🦄 Thank you.
Just remind me not to let you fly any of my models. LMAO! Great review and video as always.
Nice! Thanks. 6s can be used with this motor?
I was hopping that this plane can be long range
There are better options for longer flying. Check out my fixed wing playlist for all the ones I have looked at.. Best of luck
Best wishes 360
Lee your a wonderful person I am really struggling with the fact I may loose my life because of my employers negligence in providing protection may all your builds fly high thanks for everything
Love it! Mine is on order. How does the new self trimming work on iNav 3.0?? Looks like not well?? Can you do a hands on video for trimming in field?
It normally works very well. See my video on the new fixed wing levelling stuff in INAV 3.0... Happy flying
@@Painless360 ok will do. I must have missed that. Thanks
The difficulty launching and general lack of pitch authority, is probably because it's nose heavier than the Ayatollah.
Having flown my own design deltas for 30 odd years, those CG marks are very far forward for a delta.
I suggest you make a small chuck glider of it. Then you can move the CG aft and find the sweet spot.
It will fly much better the further aft the CG is. With deltas, the induced drag rises rapidly as Alpha increases.
Thanks for the comment, happy flying!
Looks great fun and is currently only £107 P&P. I already annoy my flying club friends on the odd occasion I pull out a quad or quad motor converted fixed wing. Listening to this, I'll give it a miss ... for them ;)
Yep, you can't fly this without people hearing it. Still less noisy than IC or glow though.. ;) Happy flying!
I would experiment with the CG, put it more at the rear. Flew some deltas in the ninethies and they all could fly very slow on big aoa and some power (no flight controllers) ... Something is missing in this model
Thanks for the idea, this has also been suggested in another comment. I'm planning to do a lot more with this model and make a follow up video with my findings..
Was this one made to your specifications too?
Nope, sadly ZOHD have stopped collaborating with pilot and it shows..
Love the review, thanks.
How are you attaching the FC to the model?
I use double sided foam tape. The stuff for car number plates is super sticky!
@@Painless360 Thank you very much!
Looking forward to seeing more of your videos :)
Nice review. I’ll stick with the Dolphin for now. Mine runs up to 139mph on a 6S 2807 1300kv motor. Also flys extremely slow as well.
The Dolphin is one of my top picks at the moment. It seems to be a model that can do it all.. Happy flying!
@@Painless360 I got it after watching your review of it. Thanks for the great content!
its bigger than i expected
I would tune the plane fly full manual mode, trimmed neutral, the use any soft of autolevel goodness.
Follow up video with footage and setup tips from other flights planned. Only maiden footage in this video. Happy flying!
Excellent review as usual. Looks like a model that's not nice to fly. Can you please edd details about the video antenna?
menacerc.co.uk/product/AeroPOD Happy flying!
To be honest, I'd probably recommend an R690 over this; far more efficient and just as fast or faster :) Looks great though!
R690 is fun but was a headache to deal with before it flies good. Elevon tore off during a high speed run. Lost the canopy (partially my fault) during flight .
It would be cool as a EDF
someone should make props that whistle and are purposely loud for a shock and awe flyby.
Hi Lee, how's the Mambo?
So far, so good. Waiting for full OpenTX support to arrive - www.open-tx.org/radios
My altitude readings go crazy in inav to.
Mine only did it on the maiden flight. Follow up video on this model coming very soon... Happy flying!
Looks nice! Not better than my nano drak but nice non the less.
The Nano Drak is a fantastic model. I love mine.. Happy flying
Small, twitchy, loud, and looks like you need to throw it throttled way up. Other than the assembly, this things a gigantic NOPE sandwich. 😒
Great video, that second launch was sketchy! haha
I was glad I opted to pop the goggles on - it allowed me to rescue it! Happy flying!
How are these FPV planes cheaper than model planes?
No idea, glad they are though!
My fast mover is an eFlite F27 Evolution. Does 100mph + and flies like it’s on rails. Only get about five minutes per flight. Thx Lee. This one isn’t for me.
Where can I get one, I'm in the UK.....
I'm not aware of any UK resellers stocking it. Link in description.. Happy flying
@@Painless360 Thanks 🙄 Where are you and your buddy from? You both sound English and the countryside looks like England too 🤔 Did you take the hit of VAT/Import duty/admin fees into England?
To fast for me 👌 would crash 💥 it quickly… I graduated from Drift and Dart 250 but don’t know what’s next? 🤔
I would glue all together. Why would you break up a 650mm model?
It's an interesting question. Maybe there are options coming for it as I mused at the end of the video? After what happened with my wings here we were tempted to drop some glue in the front of the wing joins to keep them closed... Happy flying!
Did you see the jet wow
Yep. See my post on it in the community tab... Happy flying!
I have a dolphin
Is the behavior of the slow slot that is worrisome for this small tyrant plane difficult?
Not sure I understand what you are asking - can you explain a little more?
I don't feel so bad crashing my Aeroscout a bunch of times now.
I feel it's important to share the real experience, not just the one that makes the model look good.. happy flying!
I got a ZOHD drift and although it's well built, and packaged, it really doesn't fly that great. It's okay but I expected better from the reviews. Took a lot of setting up and the c of g on the model is just wrong.
Glide test.
That’s way it’s important to put in the reflex required my the manual…
Indeed. Moulding that reflex into the wing is handy too... Happy flying!
Is that a.........3d printed motor mount? Hopefully not. Of all places to "Cheap out". If it is printed that is. I could see those motor screws pulling through rather quickly.
Not 3d printed. Happy flying
@@Painless360 Oh that's great! Thank you for clarifying!
@@Painless360 Are you going to make some more videos of the Alpha after its trimmed and tuned? It looks fast sitting still but I thought it would be quicker.
Just got mine, the motor mount appears to be a fibre glass type composite similar to circuit board and feels quite strong.. but we'll see.
@@paulhope3401 "Sounds" like glass fiber reinforced plastic. It usually is pretty tough. Thanks. Happy flying.
Looked great until it flew lol,
Too loud and twitchy obviously but maybe with some trimming and a different prop it could be fantastic.
This is a fast, loud, fun model for pilots with a little skill. There are a few tricks to setting it up to fly well and I have a video out at the weekend that covers the things I've found for manual and INAV setups.. Stay tuned!
As soon as you launched that and got it in the air I said to myself nope! Too fast and squirrely
Flies really well? Looked like the FC was the only thing keeping it in the air! I think I'll stick with my Goblin for ripping holes in the sky.
its like an f22
I'll be making a follow up video that covers more detail on setup and flight experiences. You've only seen the niaden footage. My comments are not just based on that flight... stay tuned!
I had to sit through a Barbie commercial to watch this. Is that really your fan base?
What an odd choice by the RUclips algorithm, I hope the video was worth it! :D
@@Painless360 i sat through the commercial because i know your videos are very much worth loosing that 30 seconds of my life. Appreciate the content you produce for us.
the downside is we only get 1 video on the new products so we dont get to see very many flight i cant keep up it seems like there pumping them out so fast i hate seeing a lot of the great wings fade away
I have started making follow up videos for the models that fly a lot. They cover more information on how they fly and survive longer term... Happy flying
@@Painless360 thanks so much your such a true gentlemen i really appriaciate everything you have helped me so much when i can i plan on sending you a thank you donation i look for your videos first
Bit pricey, and way to fast for this old man, besides the last time I tried such a plane I hit a tombstone in the adjacent field, at 50 mph or more, cause was undetermined as there wasn't much left, gas powered and drove the crankshaft through the back and firewall and fuel tank...yea it hit hard, no damage to the headstone, and no complaints from the resident... . Take care.
I would crash that thing in 2 minutes... or less!
Looks cool but I won't be buying this one.
