we loved the easy to open door button on the eclipse. So great for people who are handicapped. We will be on The Beyond in May, and I hope they have the buttons. The Eclipse had many good features, and because we had an aqua suite we ate in Blu which had fantastic service and very good food. the only thing I did was the major production shows, which I thought had poor plots, if you could call it a plot, and not great music. The cast did its best, but they were not up to snuff. One thing Royal Caribbean versus celebrity is that Royal seems to have better entertainment.
I enjoy watching your videos. Thank you very much.

Thank you! We are glad you enjoy our videos!
The Beyond does have the automatic doors, and you just have to tap your card. Makes it easier, especially when your hands are full.
We enjoy Blu very much, and have to agree about the entertainment. We have heard great things about Royal Caribbean entertainment. We need to plan a trip.

Good afternoon you two lovely ladies. I just watched your video on the lack of accessibility on your Antarctica cruise. Well in short I’ll give you this warning. Don’t take the Royal Caribbeans accessible excursions on St Maarten and St Thomas. I did last July and the tie downs broke on both excursions and I fell on my side, chair and me, on the floor of the van. The second excursion I first fell in a ladies lap and an hour later it broke again and the side of my head went into the window as I fell again. They didn’t even care. I travel alone and all Royal would do is compensate me $20 for the accidents on the excursions. I used to cruise a lot when I could walk but now I’m in a scooter. And that was my first time with Royal and my first handicap cruise. I will never cruise on Royal again. They wouldn’t put me with other people at dinner. They put me at a table by myself next to the room full of dirty dishes and filth. They wouldn’t move me anywhere else. Even the maitre’d insisted on cutting up my food in little bites like I was two. I’m 68, hahaha, and I really didn’t like that. I have never seen a ship more full of disrespectful, rude, mean people in my life. I would have to wait at least 1/2 hour just to get on the elevator. I had show reservations for all of the shows, I was on time and every time they had put someone else in a chair in my spot. I was on Harmony at the end of July. I was sick towards the end of it. I flew to Montana to my car, drove the four hours home to Wyoming and was home for less than an hour when I had to call the ambulance to get it. I had gotten Covid and hand, foot and mouth on the ship. I was so sick and angry. The entire trip was terrible. So I’m finished with Royal. And maybe cruising for a while. I love to watch your videos. You two keep up the great work. Would love to meet you someday. Take care, RuthAnn Robins.

      Hi RuthAnn,
We are so sorry to hear all of this. None of it is okay! We can certainly understand why you don’t want to sail on Royal Caribbean or any other cruise line. So disheartening.
We have experienced a fellow cruiser injured during an excursion and we understand. Having two people so one can watch and/or intercept is helpful. It shouldn’t be that way but in reality it is difficult to travel with disabilities.
Thank you for sharing your experiences. We are so sorry that you had to endure all of it.
As for the elevators, we have found going in the opposite direction sometimes helps. If everyone wants to go down, we will go up and then down. Sometimes you have to outsmart them.

What a horrible experience. So sorry to hear about this, I can imagine the difficulty doing it on your own. My husband is in a scooter and we find it difficult with both of us.

I've been trying to research transportation at ports during a cruise and you are the first to mention this issue. Can you please share Amy information on how to find reliable transportation in Europe for handicapped travel? My husband needs an electric scooter to get around and cannot climb up or down steps to get on a bus. Her could stand and sit in an SUV but we'd need a lift or room for his scooter. We are traveling with a group which adds to the complications

That is a great question. It is often difficult to find vehicles with lifts in Europe, but not impossible. London is wonderful because all cabs must have ramps for accessibility. In other places it is a hit or miss. I search for “wheelchair accessible transportation” in a specific place we will be.
If you are traveling with a group, is it an organized tour where the person organizing the travel can request busses that have lifts?

@@wheelchairadventures8564 Thanks for the tip - I'll try that, although I have been trying variations of it already without success. We are traveling with a group of friends - not an organized tour.

Does the room door open automatically? Thank you for sharing your adventures.

It did have an automatic door. We remember waiting for it to close before we headed down the hall.
