  • Never cut a pipe before? Not a problem - Aden will show you how to quickly, easily and accurately cut copper pipe using a simple rotary pipe cutter.
Since the cutting blade has some width to it, be sure to add about an extra 1/16” to your measurement so you don't come up short. Mark the pipe, and line up the cutter blade. Most cutters have a spring-loaded tooth mechanism that quickly adjusts the cutting area to the pipe size; use that to get the blade close to the pipe. Use the turn dial to tighten the cutter to the point where it scores the pipe.
Start slowly, with one full rotation at that initial setting to make sure the blade is cutting straight. A few more rotations will create a groove out of the score mark. Continue to rotate the cutter, tightening the blade after every other turn, or whenever the tension lessens (don't overtighten - this can damage both pipe and cutter). Eventually you'll feel the cut is just about complete - take things slowly so that you don't drop anything.
