    Chanel has no option but to be somewhat predictable. The loyal clients are wealthy but not particularly fashion-forward (nor artistically invested.) Hedi and his creative team will understand the assignment.

    • @MarysRoom
      @MarysRoom  16 дней назад

      I agree! It's appeal is the heritage, history and mythology. A creative team would have to know how to interpret that.

    My pick is Pierpaolo Piccoli, but I would love to see Stefano Pilati back in fashion. I feel like his work for YSL was misunderstood.

      Ohh Pilati would be such an interesting pick!! PPP would create such beautiful couture but I wonder if he has the ability to create those commercial "it" products that Karl was known for. I could see PPP at a Fendi

    Mary, Chanel is priced themselves so high, that it’s going to be hard for anyone to make Chanel great again😝 the fabrics that they were lately using, are mostly synthetic mix. And that’s I don’t think designer’s choice, that’s bottom line profit, fitting in a proposed budget, so even designs are great, if Chanel continue choose bad quality fabrics, it’s not going to work. I used to love Chanel. But I don’t think any other brand over saturated preloved market, as Chanel. Chanel don’t really keep value anymore. Maybe some very rare or so “right now” items. Yes VV era Chanel bags were the worst. I haven’t bought much from Chanel, since she became creative director. Whoever goes to Chanel, I hope brings back that fairytale , but not over the top more wearable, like Karl did… I just hope Phoebe stays at her brand, and continue her amazing work. Although the way she made Celine timeless, she definitely could be great for Chanel. Have a blessed day🙏❤️

      I'm with you Giedre. When I fell in love with Chanel, it was exactly as you say, fairytale but wearable but it has lost that magic. Interesting to know about the quality of the clothing. I do agree, it's a business decision. It's such a shame as well bc Chanel is a privately owned brand. So much greed. Thank you for watching and sharing❤

    I remember over a decade ago, I think there was a clip of Karl, or an interview where he said Haider Ackermann would be a great successor. I was always curious about what Karl knew and why he would suggest Haider.
    I also think if Chanel were to take on a “new” designer like Jacquemus it would be a huge risk. I feel like Chanel will want to have someone who has been in the game for decades… but we shall see!
    Hedi would be an interesting choice as well. A more minimal, stripped down Chanel ? Hmmm

    • @MarysRoom
      @MarysRoom  19 дней назад +2

    I suspect Virginie handed in her resignation some months ago & Chanel tapped Hedi on the shoulder, hence the rumours of his departure from Celine. Hedi and Jacquemus are my top picks. There comes a point where you have to step out of tradition and take a risk. Although in this climate introducing men’s wear to Chanel might be too big of a risk but so exciting to see this potential expansion!

    i’m not a big hedi slimane fan, but i cant deny that he could/would bring the increasingly desirable “youth centered aesthetic” to the house. in my mind, it doesn’t make sense though to bring in an aging household name if the brand is hoping to build another franchise designer & leader. i (personally) would love to see them make a play for olivier rousteing. he’s only 38 years old, so he’s got at least a couple decades to build on, chanel could give a jolt of fresh energy to his work, it would keep the direction of the house in french hands, and it would be a historic & significant appointment (for obvious reasons.)
