The fact remains, with inflation throughout the decades and the dollar losing 86% of its value, compounded with the prices of houses, the minimum wage should be 35.19 an hour calculated with just core Inflation not headline inflation.

16 dollars minimum wage? What a guy !!! This should have been 5 years ago, today with current experience if minimum wage becomes 22 dollars it might help

    • @samt8017

If minimum wage shoots up to fast, you will see products and service rise also to cover the cost of higher wages. Also, more full time positions will be shrink and part time positions will grow.

@@samt8017 The correct way of doing it is or the government to increase the income and control the prices from going up

@@roberts3965 unfortunately, that would not work. If wages increase too fast, and the price of goods and services don’t increase, how will companies pay the employees? It’s either they would have to increase the price of products and services or, cut hours to the major of their work force. Small businesses suffer the most and like it or not small businesses are a huge part of our economy.

@@samt8017 by cutting their expenses and reducing their greed that way a society can grow and have all people happy like Sweeden, Norway, Denmark, Holland why do we think we know more than others or we are higher than others? what is this culture of looking down at a group of people thinking always in this society others would be always at the disposal o the rich?

@@roberts3965 you sound like a person that’s uneducated about how money works. That’s no fault of your own. Our society is never taught how money actually works or how to make money work for you and not you working for money. The rich understand this principle, that’s why they are rich. They do not depend on the government nor do they depend on hourly pay. The society you are talking about are those who know how money works and those that do not.

I LOVE HOW EVERY POLITITION AND PREMIERE JUST IGNORE THE PROBLEM WITH DISSABLED AND HOMELESS PEOPLE LIKE THERE NON EXISTANT ,WEVE BEEN PRETTY MUCH BEGGING THE GOVERNMENT FOR 4 YEARS FOR A BIT HELP ,SAD WHEN PEOPLE IN JAIL WHO HAVE COMMITED SERIOUS CRIMES GET BETTER TREATMENT THEN US ON DISSABILITY ,,ATLEAST THEY KNOW THERE GETTING 2 MEALS A DAY,,,GOVERNMENT STANDS FOR B S PROMISES

It is disgusting that criminals get better treatment then our seniors. Our parliamentarians avoid the questions surrounding poverty when it costs Canada 250 billion a year and climbing with poverty reduction measures that just compound the problem.

When is the next reading for UBI, since CRB was canceled? Seems to me, there's lots of talk, and no action. People want solutions now, not in a year. Thanks for update

Jas, is there a program for Seniors who are working but have been shut out by the Gov’t COVID Benefits? I’m an Albertan, have a home-based business that has been & still is being hurt by COVID. I drive people to & from medical appointments that are in cities within southern AB. I am directly affected by COVID. I am receiving CPP & OAS, receiving just under $1400/month. I can’t live off this especially the way gas has increased so much. What can you suggest to me plz?
