Bon Jour Janice! I am Irish, living in a small pretty town here for past almost 6 years. Similar age as you. Sadly lost my beloved husband 4 years ago..Am a bit bored, lonely as I used to lead an exciting life before. So, I have booked a vacation to Spain, solo, in April. All, because I had a dream about this beautiful resort! I really admire your adventurous spirit. I have always been adventurous too...and you are inspiring me to be daring once again! Thank you. I love you.❤❤🎉
Oh, this made my heart really happy this afternoon to read this. And I’m glad you’re going in April you know of all the places that I have been I have never been to Spain, and I’ve never had the desire to please tell me all about it when you’re there. Email me and let me know how it’s going.
Bravo🎉🎉🎉
I can’t believe that it will have been 2 years in February! I started watching you when you were still in the US making plans to move! I am so happy for you! ❤
Thank you
I love your idea for the wallpaper!! And it’s such beautiful wallpaper!! 😍
Thank you I wish I could take the credit for it but it’s Hannah’s L O L
I love the blue idea , it will look really nice.
@@marieleemcgill5011 well, you will certainly see as soon as it’s completed
I’m not sure why people get so bent out of shape when once pronounces a word in another language wrong. We all have different accents. Look at the USA, we have different accents so English words sound different throughout this large country lol. Really enjoyed your time with us today Ms Janice. I hope you are well and enjoy the upcoming week.
Well, thank you so much. I really enjoyed reading what you had to say today. I always enjoy spending time with you guys. Well you’re right about the accent you know I’m from the south and Hair normally has one syllable with the way I pronounce it has two! I’m trying some new ways with my videos, so hopefully it will work and be more entertaining. . Have a great week.
You are fun! You crack me up. I agree with your friend about the blue wall.
Me funny????
Good
I agree about the blue wall ... blue and navy are my FAVORITE COLORS...
Your decorating with the panels sounds really beautiful ! I'm glad you are painting the dining area pale blue to separate the room areas . Mary Grace has great ideas . I can't wait to see the results !
Thanks so much but it’s Hannah!
Oh sorry , I meant Hannah !@@JaniceInFrance
the salon, living room, in my French house has three pale salmon walls and an accent wall in French grey, tres chic and peaceful.
Oh wow it sounds like it
A few of my favorites I follow Janice in France; Middle Aged Minx; Josie; Kylie Flavell; Pretty over Fifty; Rebecca Robeson; Carolyn’s Simple Life; Sandra Hart; Marie LeCoeur, and more. 😊❤
Omg I love Kylie! She’s just one of those people that can do anything, and I love it. She can cook she can decorate. She’s a sweet mom. I mean she can do it all and her photography is awesome. Also speaking of Marie lecour, I’m going to be doing an interview with her I can’t wait
@@JaniceInFrance isn’t she and her family lovely. She is a cinematographer I believe. I love watching her creative videos. Can’t wait to see your interview with Marie! Looking forward to Feb 1st!
Nicki Positano positano diaries watching her since she started, middle aged minx sometimes i love her lifestyle.....and i watch chateau chronicles - abby who bought a chateau in france and holds retreats....love your videos janice.
Thank you I do appreciate your kind words and I’m going to have to check out abby
Listened to your cozy chatty vlog while I was working in my studio .
Thank you
Your so fun.Its the oldy simple fun I appreciate as I am 75 and a half .Keep vlogging brave one.🎉😀
Well, thank you you keep up those kind words lol
I would be very warry of committing myself to wall paint colors and wall papers. I make my interior design statements through furnishings which can be reajusted and changed for a seasonal fresh-up without the hassel of contracters. My walls are a pleasant off-white (not too hospital wardy) but with nice painting and art all around. My secret ingredient: Paris flea markets (the temporary ones - not the expensive big one to the North of the city).
Thank you
I did a lot of interior decorating and I agree with you.
It is much easier to have a neutral base. You can decorate and change colours with assecories and pillows anytime you want.
🖐from Amsterdam
.
@@evelynoostenbroek3328 thank you! I can’t wait for my reveal
I suggest asking the landlord in writing for permission to paint any walls and you specify the colours, and get landlords written approval that you can leave it those colours when you move out of the apartment.
I watch your video yeaterday for the first time and i subscribe immediately. I would like to see some places you go shopping.
OK
Just found your channel. This is very inspirational and hope all is well.
It is thank you
I think the pale blue walls would look gorgeous! With the white accents and the nice wallpaper, it's very the done thing now, an 'accent wall' or room. A nice fun vlog, keep up the good work!
I watch a lot of RUclipsrs, a lot of Korean girls like Kieun Choi and Japanese 'slow life' channels, Nekoniwa is one who is in the USA and lovely. Also, Jonna Jinton, Chateau Diaries, Josie, Leonora Smee, Lost Forest, Kevin Lee Jacobs, Miranda Mills, Gemma Lee Miles and a lot of travel channels, oh plus my own, Emme Chatterton! :)
Thsnk you, but I have to admit it has driven me rather nuts trying to decide. Ugh
I love that wallpaper!! I guess I’m a wallpaper gal! I bet it will be beautiful!!
Thank you. I just received an email from my painter, saying that yes definitely we are on track so I need to order that wallpaper. Lol soon.
Darling don't worry about what others say or think, the Texas accent is great! I watch the Minx too.
Yeah
Hi Janice! My husband and I are new subscribers here...Our favorite RUclipsrs / Channel is Trout and Coffee from New England Massachusetts United States. And also we like to watch French Vibes and they live in the French Riviera...
I love all RUclipsrs in the France area and I love RUclipsrs in London. I just love RUclipsrs thank you so much for subscribing and I hope you return.
I love the two color idea. I think it will a feeling of separation and larger spaces.
Thank you that is what I’m hoping
Hi. Again. Janice. I always dream vividly. I remember every detail. I write my dreams in a journal. Dreams carry important personal messages. Only you can interpret your own dreams. When I ask my dear husband to visit me jn my dreams, he always does! This means his Spirit and mine truly travel together in the astral realm. It is very comforting to me. I hope this helps answer your question. Best wishes.❤
Thank you I do appreciate you writing me again, and I know dreams are very, very strange, but to tell you the truth, I really like dreaming.
Hello Janice, new to your channel. Thank you for sharing your day and your reflections of life with us.
Thank you for being new to my channel and commenting. I certainly do appreciate it and I hope you have a great week.
Thank You Janice, I hope you have a lovely rest of your week as well.
Hi Janice, we bought French property, we paid tax for the rest of the year only. So we bought in October and paid for 3 months. The costs for the real estate agent were for the seller. We only paid the Notaire. That was all so no additional costs. We even received a small amount from the Notaire after few months because the actual costs were lower than expected. The mandatory technical report is for the seller. The sale was easy and perfectly arranged. The rest we arranged ourselves, like electricity, internet etc..
Oh, how exciting to have your own property
My husband is French so Ihave been studying French for the last couple of years. The French make a huge deal about pronounciation. He is always correcting what and how I speak French. You cant learn French if you are not willing to be subjected to constant corrections. They dont care about your accent. You either say it right - or you strike out.
lol
I feel I have to apologize. I am a French expat and I recognize that I have the urge to correct the pronunciation of every one trying their French on me, please realize it comes from the idea to be useful and help you do better, not judging but thinking you can benefit from exposure to the real pronunciation
@@moniquehuchet3646 thank you
That is why I love the Italians. They are just happy that you are attempting to speak their language and are often complimentary.
A correct pronouciation is the best way to give the impression you care and try to speak a language properly.
basket for your sunglasses!
Perfect I had one
Janice, the people who are criticizing you are simply trying to play GAWD. Ignore them. You are so very courageous and authentic.
Thank you, but you know what I always welcome other peoples opinions as long as it’s kind to other people
I just subscribed Janice! Hope you get to 40k subscribers in no time! Keep inspiring us all to pursue our passions and dreams!
Well, thank you so much and I hope the same thing lol
My favorite you tuber is Ali Andreea , a makeup artist based in Paris. I love makeup 😊 Lately though, I’ve been watching Janice in France, Postcards from my Golden Years and Adrian Leed’s Apres Midi.
I love An from Postcards
Did you have max before you moved to france Janice, and i think you are indeed a fun person, you have certsinly made me laugh and smile ,and may I say you have the cutest little giggle:),I also watch middle aged minx, shes fun isn't she
Yes, I really like the middle aged minx!
No, since I knew, Buster probably wouldn’t make it for another year, he’s the one I brought over with me from the states, I bought Max in the Normandy area
Im with you ! Cant stand when ppl talk like a baby to kids or animals ! You have a great voice to lidten to. Story teller voice...love it !
Thank you so much!
Hi Janice
the two colors is an excellent idea!!!!
Thanks so much!
Give yourself permission to be a beginner and regardless of how the critique is intended, few people are intentionally unkind, accept the feedback. Your instructor's advice is right on point. Keep practicing!
Great point!
Love the wallpaper! Be careful with the shade of blue you chose for the narrow dining room end of the living room as it can easily appear dark as the walls are reflecting against each other.
You are correct
I watch so many...French Vibe, Clara Barrera, Haha S, SugarPuffAndFluff, Sixty and Me, Walking Alice, Remi Clog, Caroline Winkler, Court Too Fly, Faces of the Forgotten
Oh my goodness I’ve never watched any of these except 60 in me so I’m gonna have to go catch up on this. Thanks so much California Glo.

The RUclipsrs I love to follow are Nicki and Carlo from the Positano Diaries, and Tuscany Diaries; Sara and Luca from Leave Everything And Wander; gardening videos from Laura of Garden Answer; Janey of Dig Plant Water Repeat; and I have an avid interest in Tarot, with a preference for political tarot readers, such as Ellie from Ellie Dreams Downunder, and MaryAnn from Revealing Light - Tarot, Astrology & Spirituality (both are awesome from a political aspect); and I enjoy a number of Tarot readers devoted to the Royals, such as Shanta from Mystical Fortunes, and C T’s Royal Tarot. These are some of my faves - including you, Janice in France! 🤗💫
Wow, that’s a lot of RUclipsrs and none of them I’ve ever read except Tuscany diaries oh the Piana diaries too but usually mine are strangely not In France. Mine are usually in London RUclipsr anyway, I’m glad you had me down on there. Thank you for watching and I hope you have a fabulous week.
Besides you, I also watch Postcards from our Golden years. I’ll be following An a couple of months later. I’ve been following you I think close to 3 years, from when you first started your journey.
Thank you for being such a long follower. Also, I live An. We met in Paris when they were here.
Love your channel!
Thank you and thank you for watching
Bonjour Janice, I just found you and totally enjoying your videos. I also love your very French haircut and overall French style. How often do you have to get your trendy hairstyle in trend? I am seriously thinking of cutting off my long hair. Hope to hear back from you soon and be well living your best life in France!
I have my hair colored every 5 weeks and I have it cut every 10 weeks…. Or at least trimmed!
Hi Janice, nice video! BUT, regarding income taxes, after you live in France for 183 days you are considered a "tax resident" (regardless of your Visa status) and then you MUST file BOTH a US Income tax return AND a France tax return. And, unfortunately, you don't have a choice of who you pay the taxes to, which is actually a good thing because France taxes are higher. As a US Citizen, you pay the taxes due to the US. You still are required to report all of your income on the France tax return, even if you have $0 income, and on the return, France requires that provide information on all of your bank accounts worldwide (they don't want your statements but they want to know where you have accounts-it is required). France will give you credit for the taxes paid to the US on the France return. This is all part of the France/US tax treaty (I actually did a video on this some time ago). I suggest you contact a tax expert to assist you on this if you neglected to file with both the US and France returns, during the next tax filing period, after you completed your 183 days of residency, so you don't get hit with penalties if any are due or you have a problem. I don't know about real estate taxes. That's a whole different story. And we aren't buying anything so for us it won't be relevant. But you may want to definitely catch up with any tax filings you may have missed AND thanks for the mention on your video!!! Much appreciated as always. XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO😘☺
Thanks
I spoke to a Tax Advisor since I am in a similar situation(Norway not France, but it has the same tax treaty). In this case if you live in a different country than the US over 183 days in a year you pay taxes to that country since you are a tax recident there now. It should be the US that gives credit for taxes paid to France since this is where you live.
@@stine If I have to pay taxes to someone, even though I live in France, I'd rather pay the lower taxes to the USA and get full credit for paying them here in France. I understand taxes here in France are much higher. Fortunately, this will be our last year with "earned" income in the USA. After that we're just living on SS. France doesn't consider Social Security taxable income. Unfortunately the USA still does, if you collect over a certain limit in SS and pension income.
I enjoy watching Janice in France as well as Jay Swanson (he’s an American living in Paris)
Yes, I am a fan of Jay Swanson also
Hi. I agree with Hanna that one room should be white, with pretty wallpaper and your diner should be the pale blue, like the wallpaper...it will be very stylish! I love interior design. My bedroom has 3 pale lavender walls and the wall behind my large bed is a Japanese print with lavender colour and cherry blossom and white lacy fans.......love your videos! ❤🎉
Thank you very much. I cannot wait till March 18 and the painters will be here.
Your bedroom sounds gorgeous
I like the wallpaper you picked
Don't feel bad, I have been learning Czech for two and a half years, (am retired in my 60's) one of the hardest languages ever, and I am always getting told here by Czechs here that my accent is off, but that is part of the territory. I will always have an American accent and will be American in their eyes no matter what, so just do the best you can!
Very true words! What area do you live in? Thank you for following!
I too watch Nikki Poisitano 😊. Have you watched Chateau Diaries? ❤
Yes, and for the life of me, the people look fabulously wonderful but I just can’t get into it
Making changes to your apartment ~ how fun! Beautiful wallpaper :) .... my favorite RUclips channels: Nicki Positano (they just bought a 2nd home in Tuscany so will be fun watching renovations/decorating). The Newby's, Leave Everything and Explore, American Viscountess, Lone Fox....I spend way too much time on RUclips!
It’s ok you tube is very entertaining
Love the Teddy Blake Red !
Me too
You live near a shop with the best chili? That's high praise from a Texan!
I wish!
It’s in a jar
Yes I each her in London
I just thought about something....laundry do you have a washer dryer?
I have both a washer and the dryer. I have a small washing machine but I have a huge American dryer.
just lovely!
Thank you
Il have the same haircut and aim for symmetry but like you I deal with hair with mind of its own. Having worn my hair long and braided most of my life my hair wants to separate and go back to the one braid down the back. Daily fight !
Well, if I have mine done, it’ll stay like that for about a week. It’s just when I start messing with it is when it messes up lol.
wow, Janice! I am the same way, I always question why. why did this happen, why did that happen?
Yep
Hello again, one of your new subscribers. Don't every worry about your accent. You are taking the trouble to learn another language......something that becomes more difficult as we get a little older. Congratulations. In regards to your mascara, on your lower lashes, being almost 70, my dear I have had people tell me that the "powers that be" say you should not put mascara on your lower lashes. I say some people can wear it and it helps balance out the look when one's lashes have thinned and changed colour as one gets older. What matters is if it works for you, go for it.🙂
You know that makes the best sense I’ve read in a long time! Thank you and also, I must thank you for being one of my new subscribers
Middle aged minx’s is a favorite of mine too
Mine too
Janice you're an inspiration to so many of us - I;m 63 and will need to work until i'm 70 before I can retire. I dream of living in France, just like you :) Your hair always looks fabulous, do you colour it yourself or go to the hair salon, are the hairdressing prices expensive in France? Greetings from Sydney Australia x
I do not color my hair because I would never do it correctly, but I have a hairstylist and I used to go to her salon but she retired so now she comes to my house which is so awesome because if it’s raining or cold or whatever kind of weather she just comes to my house and I can just enjoy her company here. She speaks French with a little bit of English now and I speak English with a little bit of French lol.

Perfect idea!
How long should I enter France after receiving a French long stay visa? Do I need to arrive in France within 1 month? Or should it arrive within 2 months?
Is there a set period?
I would go immediately . For instance they will want to know when you are entering France. My date started on February 1st because that is what I put on my application.

Can you live with $1,600.00 a month in a small city? Thank you.
No, I don’t think so. Because after all you would want to travel and the expense of trains, buses, etc wouldn’t allow that. I think they recommend 2400

Sorry, but stern is not a word that comes to mind when I think of you, even though stern is not a bad thing at all.🤷♀️😳. You are giggly, light hearted, funny and you don’t seem to take life too seriously. You’re also so patient and kind with your sweet Buster.
