Usually I see Carolans on the shelf next to Bailey's. It's just a hint less rich and has a bit more bite. Here in the states a lot of Kentucky distillers have started making their own cream liqueurs with Benchmark being the most popular (same distiller as Buffalo Trace). In our house though my wife introduced me to Ponche Crema, which is a traditional Venezuelan holiday drink similar to a really rich eggnog. It's a custard of egg yolks, sweetened condensed milk, and evaporated milk. You can switch out the sweetened condensed milk with a dulce do leche to give it a more caramel flavor. I set some aside for the kids, and then mix in a whole lot of a good value aged rum.
Really interesting video Steve! The Licor43 is the only one I’ve not tried but surprised you didn’t get lots of cinnamon/nutmeg of the rumchata! Bumbu cream the most recent one i tried which was nice too!
I fell in love with Merlyn Welsh Cream Liqueur when trying to find an alternative to Baileys. They sold it in my local Tesco for a short while, but i've not seen it for a while. Slightly creamier than Baileys but really drinkable for a sweat tooth like me
Interesting you give Amarula a 5. It’s one of my favourites. It’s definitely lighter and has a fruity tone compared to baileys. The strange smell you get is probably the Marula fruit. For me personally, the best cream liqueur is one that I was hoping you were going to try called, Arron Gold. Followed closely by Edradour. Worth checking out if you’re a fan of cream liqueurs.
£13 for a litre bottle at asda. So for that price it's hard not to buy a bottle. It is definitely worth a litre bottle for that price. It mixes well in other cocktails. It's Christmas buy them all......
@@StevetheBarmanUK Is called Country Lane. I have bought it a couple of times and I believe there used to be chocolates also filled with it in poundland type shops decades in the past.

Egg Nog deep dive with recipes and comparisons- is what I’d vote for in a Christmas season video
That'd be amazing, and egg nog cocktail recipes
Yeah, its coming...but bear in mind, Egg Nog is not a huge deal in the UK, as we have Advocaat.

I saw this comment the other day and did revisit RumChata (I filmed this 2-3 weeks ago). Absolutely zero spice notes to it.
Any Christmas cocktails for the rum chata?
Maybe, we'll see...
I make my own. I use condensed milk, heavy cream, Jameson, vanilla extract, almond extract, cocoa powder and instant coffee.
No Lidl, Aldi or supermarket own brands Steve? Missed opportunity I think. Thanks Steve 👍
They aren't all that imo
Soz, mate, the whole point of the video was recognised big brands 👍️
@@StevetheBarmanUK Not worries Steve. You're still my favourite Vlogger ❤️😉
Sisserou is one of the best cream liqueur’s i have had for a while. It is rum and coconut think it could be right up your street.

Yeah Penderyn still make it, but like a lot of small producers, the big Supermarkets and wholesales just don't carry them anymore.
RUM BAR❤

Cheers mate, have seen Arron, but not readily available 👍️

I would rather buy Bols Country Lane Irish cream costs less than baileys and is just as good.
I wasn't aware Bols made a Cream Liqueur. Nothing really comes up online either 🤷♂️

@@StevetheBarmanUK Sorry it's De Kuyper. Just looked at the country of origin and assumed it was Bols.
