These tires are meant for compact SUVs, not a large Ford Expedition like yours. Your car is too heavy, and that’s what is causing the road noise. I have these tires on my Volvo XC60, and they are extremely quiet.

I purchased a set of Continental Cross Contact LX25’s for my Subaru Forester XT because of all the great reviews on Tire Rack and despite watching this video. After about 500 miles, I’m happy with the purchase. They’ve been especially good on wet roads. As for road noise, I haven’t noticed any.
Interesting, I have these Continentals LX25 in my Pathfinder for two months and I found that they are better/quieter than my 26K mile old Michelin Latitude Tour. My experience is completely different from yours. Maybe your truck is too heavy? Maybe the roads you drive are different from highways in California. I almost didn't buy these tires based on this review, then I saw others and realized that you are dead wrong generalizing! Cheers.
I just put the LX25's on my Outback. They are SUPER, super quiet and smoooooth. I told my wife that they feel like the car is gliding on ice skates. I don't know what road noise you're hearing.
If you don't like the tires doesn't Continental offer you a 45 or 60 day replacement? However if you replace them I believe Continental says you have to replace them with the same brand or BF Goodrich. You can't just replace them with any choice brand you want. I would have at least replace them again with mew LX 25s just to see if you had a bad set.

I’m sure I just had a set of bad tires. Continental makes great tires and these tires typically have great reviews.
I am a pet transporter. I travel the entire lower 48 states. In the last 10 months i have driven more than a truck driver. 160,000. miles in the last 10 months. I drive a 2018 Toyota Sienna XLE fwd. There was a small amount of road noise the first 500 miles until they got broke in. I have figured out where the noise comes from. It is on concrete roads instead of asphalt. My size is 235/60r/17 crosscontact lx25 rated for 70000 miles i got 80000 miles out of them Still have the DWS on them. I have noticed a slight break in traction now that i am over the recommended mileage but not before 77750. My vote is still out on some cold weather roads such as the northeast where there are sharp turns and and gravel in the roads. I feel like the rear wants to slide some but it actually hasnt and some slick wet roads i get a little of the same feeling. Snow is good traction asphalt on dry wet and snow good traction. I'm going to see if there is a better tire available for my needs this year but overall i am very happy with the tires. I am an excessive driver compared to the average driver. I encounter temperature differences from 121° in California to 0° in New Hampshire all within the same week. I just want a more secure feeling on the mountains and gravel highways in Pennsylvania to the slick roads when wet in Texas. I transport pets costing in excess of $70,000. each so I can't afford the risk of anything happening. I don't think anything would with the continental but i just want to make sure. I would recommend this tire for someone wanting long life on their tires and good normal everyday driving.
BS....Have these LX25's on my Highlander and they are great 3k miles and would definitely purchase for my other vehicles. I must add they still look brand spanking new!!!
I have a friend who placed these tires on his Infiniti a month ago and he has the same loud noise as I had. Maybe these tires suffer from some sort of inconsistent manufacturing. Discount tire took mine back without a question and sent me Pirellis for free. Night and day difference on my Expedition.
@@AdventuringToday I'm surprised with your comment about road noise. The reviews on tire rack are very good especially when it come too road noise. About your comment about inconsistent manufacturing there maybe something to that since I have a relative who works for continental, and you wouldn't believe the rubber they through away from the mistakes. I will say the Big shots coming over from Germany are not happy about it and they are cracking down on the folks at the N.C. plant. So you could have very well got tires that weren't quite right.
I second this, LX25 on my 17 Highlander is a much better tire than the Michelins that I had. The Michelins also had a tread flaking issue, alignment was checked and within spec. I think these are quiet, have a supple and firm road feel. The old LX20s I had felt like they were riding tall on the tread and like they distorted more on corners and curves. The LX25s feel more stable in curves and corners at the cost of less softness. I like this though since the rubber still has a soft quality about it, like a high quality and durable, supple rubber. Odd tip, if you use your fingernail and press into a tire, then scratch it, if you pay attention carefully to the feel you can learn a lot about tire compositions and relate it to their characteristics.
Interesting review, I have tried lx20 LX25 and Michelin PREMIER Ltx. Michelin is the quietest tire, but tread life is just average. Lx 20 got better tread life but a little bit noisy. Lx25 is so much quieter than 20, I will say it’s almost as smooth as Michelin . Are you sure you put correct tire pressure on yours?
I bought these tires for a 2020 murano I put a sound meter b4 switching from Michelin. Exactly the same sound,, The continental Lx 25 Great in all NY weather. This guy must got a bad set.

Just put them on my 2019 Mazda CX5 Signature - not very good with road noise and they have way too much lateral play, it feels like the car is sliding on ice. I do not like them at all!
I have Continental True Contact Tour on my 2013 Honda CR-V AWD, which is a 80,000 mile tire and they are quite as can be. Absolutely love them. Even if the were a little noisy I wouldn’t replace them with a Perelli that only last 35,000
I had the opposite. I just had them take off the Pirellis verde off my highlander because after 8,000 miles the car just hums from 10mph to 40mph. The radio didn’t even drown it out. I just bought those continentals to help
I bought a set of LX25's and had the same problem. For me, the sound would happen at highway speeds. The only time I didn't hear the s humming sound was a stretch of freshly paved highway. I went back to Les Schwab twice after getting my tires installed to figure out what was going on. They found no issues that would cause the sound I was hearing. Luckily Les Schwab has a 30 day return policy and I exchanged the tires and paid the difference in price. I swapped them out with the Toyo Open Country QT. The guy at Les Schwab told me that the LX25 are the quietest tires and changing them out won't make any differences. He was wrong. I drove on the highway and the noise was gone. Maybe I got a bad set of LX25 tires, either way, I won't be buying LX25's anytime soon.
I've had these (LX25s) on my 2018 Highlander for over 60k miles now. Great tires, no more road noise than the crappy original Bridgestones which were worn out at 23k miles ! I'm getting ready to order another full set this month. Your mileage may vary but in my 52 years of driving dozens of vehicles these are the best tires I have ever purchased, bar none.
I may have had some bad tires. I have always had good luck with Conti's in the past. These just didn't work for me. Maybe next time! Happy you are enjoying yours!!!
I have to say the crosscontact LX25 are the quietest tires I have ever had, don’t understand why you have noises but by watching your other videos with different tires, seems you still have same noises. Installed my lx25 a month ago on my 2018 Highlander no noises at all, outstanding performance on wet roads, better riding than original michelin tires.
I'm on my 2nd set of LX20's on my Acura MDX SUV, both sets have lasted to about 45-50K miles before they start to hydroplane. I've noticed they get louder over time but that is the case with most tires. The snow performance is the best of any all season tire I've used and I just purchased a set of the LX25s which has a different tread pattern, hopefully they are just as good. I've never experienced any hums, just the usual tire noise as they age especially on concrete highways. I run the Pirelli Cinturato P7 on my Acura TL Sedan and they are much quieter and have much better wet and dry performance compared to the Michelin Pilots the car came from the factory with. The only problem with the Pirelli Cinturato's is the snow performance is poor. I'm planning on buying the Pirelli Verde's for the wife's Caddilac SRX SUV this fall and will see how they compare to the LX25's. It is currently running the Kumho Solis which is a really terrible tire, only 25K on them and they are very loud and have poor wet and dry traction, forget driving in the snow. They were OK for the first 10K miles but went downhill fast.
Odd that the Volvo's that I have come standard with the Scorpions and everyone bails on them because they ride hard, wear terrible and are loud! Everyone recommended the Cont LX25's and have had no issues at all. Everyone's different I suppose.
I thought so but I have a friend in Ohio who put these on his wife’s Infiniti and he said the same thing right after getting them installed. I switched to Pirelli all season verdes and could not be happier. Plus the MPG increase of the all season verdes is awesome.
Ive had the LX20s (which i loved), Toyos and now the LX25s on my AWD Murano. I have the road noise issue however, they are still quieter than the Toyos. Generally I love Contis for the grip in the critical 28-36F temp zone. But on my Murano the noise only starts around 50 mph.
What a load of crap! Have a set on my Touareg and have them half worn out and by far the quietest tires and does everything well but nothing perfect. Maybe he needs to find the actual cause of the noise because its not those tires. You can easily see they aren’t even cupped.
I now have roughly 37,000 miles on my LX25's. At no point have they had road noise that bothered me, and they have performed great in every condition I've driven in so far. I have 6/32 left on all four tires at present. My vehicle is tested to have an interior dB level of 67-68 at 70mph. The 2017 3.5L Ecoboost F150 shows to have been tested to have a cabin noise at the same speed of 67dB, as well, so it is apples to apples. The only thing I can think of is the different size tires perform differently, as their harmonics indeed must vary. That said, this is a specific tire size/vehicle issue, not completely a tire issue across the line, as mine are awesome.
Sir! I would of went with Michelin Defender MS2 for the Expedition. My second choice would of been Uniroyal Touring Tire then the Hercules brand. I had a bad Experience with those Italian tires you just bought.
Cruz Mascorro Thank you for the comments. I tried defenders on a previous SUB and got terrible feathering of the tread at 10,000 miles. Michelin would not back the tires. Pirellis have alway worked good for me even though they are not my favorite overall brand. We will see how they work. I will say this. I can already see a sustained higher MPG experience vs the Continentals and the previous Hankooks.
I have a Dodge Charger scat pack but my dad has a Nissan Pathfinder , he uses LX Crosscontact continental on all wheels amd has no issue , I use his car for work and I’ve never had a problem with them , they are good for rain.
I have the same exact issue with my 2020 Acura MDX. I thought there was a problem with the car. I too have about 2k on them and it's just annoying as heck! The hum is much more apparent on concrete roads than on tar rods. So, I know it's the tire. If I go back to the dealer will they replace? Or, do I have to deal with Continental directly?
Just installed the Continental LX 25`s today and have to say the tire is great!. No road noise and smooth ride. Not sure why he was getting the loud noise on his set. bad set maybe?..... So far impressed with Continentals.

Great video. 👍 Strangely, I just replaced my Pirelli Scorpion verde tires on my Acura RDX with the Continental Crosscontact due to extreme road noise. The Pirellis are notorious for being a hard tire. If the continentals fail, I will just go back to the OE Michelin brand. Thanks again for the informative video.

Getting new tires for my wife's crossover, both Tire Rack and Discount recommend crappy hard compound tires with fake customer reviews. Get on youtube to hear from real owners. I decided to put the same tires I have on my Challenger on her car The Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4. Rim Protector, softer compound, great traction and quiet ride. They were hard to find, my car Dealership is special ordering them for me.
Reviews on Tire Rack do not indicate that this tire has excessive road noise. And CR's testing show this to be a "quieter than average" tire. Also, I had these on my Outback and they were actually quiet. This review makes no sense to me.
Omg! I thought I was the only one! I put 22s in my x5 m50, nice wheels but came with generic tires, and around 50-60mph it would have this weird humming sound, I replaced them with nexan tires, noise went away at 50mph, but has weird noises over rough surfaces and sounds like a hollow hum sound again…so someone said the wider the tires the louder the tire, so I was going to drop from 285s to 275s in front and was looking at the continental contisilent wheels..
Comparing an Expedition POS to a Benz, Audi, RR etc is just ridiculous. It's no where's close to them. I would fathom to guess that it's the truck that is responsible for not damping out the road noise based on the comments.
Maybe just maybe your ears and your mind are listening for excess noise, turn the volume up on your radio, these times have been excellent on my wife's Qx60 and she's pretty picky on excess tite noise.
We just bought a used Lexus with new LX25’s installed. Short drives around town ok, BUT…. on interstate these tires were extremely noisy. In some areas tires made so much we couldn’t even talk. Never had Continental tires before and will have to replace them this year after about 2,000 miles on them.
Just an FYI. I was looking for more info on my LX25’s I just purchased. And in my 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee I feel they’re like driving on pillows. They were so quiet that I was concerned at treadwear. So I decided to do some research and came across your video. Maybe they fix them in the last three years. 👍.
Idk if I want to keep mine. My 2022 Chevrolet Blazer came with these and 4000 miles later the treads are starting to come apart. What makes it frustrating is that my tire size 265/45r21 and the tires are not cheap at all. My only other choice is a cheap Bridgestone Dueler, Perelli Scorpion AS Zero, Yokohama Geolandar and a couple of Michelins (latitude and Crossclimat). For the price, I'm really debating on moving to a 20" rim and purchase a Firestone Destination LE3 tire.

I just bought a 2013 Honda CR-V, and it has the Cross Contact "LX" tires on it, and I find them to be very noisy. Is there a difference between them and the LX25s? I'm thinking of swapping them out for some Michelin Cross Climate2 tires like my wife has on her Forester; they are awesome.
Those scores do not have good tread pattern fo snow sure they will be quieter but safety over noise levels are my priority in upstate new york in the winter.
I just had these installed on my 2019 Highlander and they don’t make a lot of road noise, but I do get a lot of unwanted feedback from the road. It’s as if you can feel every little imperfection in the road and the vibrations resonate back into the vehicle. Almost feels like tires aren’t balanced, but I’ve had them professionally balanced 3 times now…
When you say "these", Pirelli or Conti? I have the same gen. Highlander and am looking for a replacement for the Toyo Country somethings.. which are amazingly quiet, but not good in snow.

Continental. They also seem to cause a vibration until they get up to operating temperature and then it gets better. They do a great job in the snow here in upstate ny.
I mean. I love the tires for what they are in terms of being a great performing all season tire. In upstate NY they do a good job in the winter weather. But I’m not sure if I got a bad set or what. I’ve literally used these tires on a jeep grand Cherokee, ford focus and now my highlander.
I just installed the LX25 on my 2018 RV4 XLE. I had Michelin's as original equipment. Very quiet and smooth the day they were installed was raining and felt good. I live on the east coast don't know with will happen in the snow. My brother works at a Porsche dealership and recommended Pirelli Scorpions. I only had Pirelli tires once on a Honda never again.
Could be size dependent too. For example, taller sidewall narrower sizes for smaller SUVs may be more compliant and transmit less into the chassis than an XL load rated wide truck tire.
THis is a tire I am considering for my '14 Honda CR-V. All of the professional reviews I have read state this is a quiet tire. Consumer Reports gives it the highest mark for "Noise" = 5, meaning quiet. Can't explain your contrary experience.
Hi...This could have been a case of a bad tire. I do know that when I replaced them with Pirelli Scorpion All Season Plus's the truck quieted down like normal. I have owned several Continentals over the years and have never had a problem. So I would trust the online reviews and buy with confidence. I have since replaced that Expedition with a 2022 as our 2018 got totaled in a rear end accident. I currently have General Grabber HTS 60's on my truck (OEM stock). I am going to get about 30,000 out of them and I think I'm going with the Pirelli Scorpions AS 3's that are the updated version of those tires. I was bummed those Continentals LX25's didn't work out for me but have had great luck with Pirelli so I want to try out this latest version of that tire. I do think the LX25's are a premium tire and it should work out great for you. Hope that helps!

I purchased the LX25's for my Nissan Rogue and I think they are VERY loud on the white top roads and highways of SE Pennsylvania. I only have 300 miles so far and they've quieted down some, so I'm hoping they improve more with break in period. They hug the road so well though and I feel like they would be invincible with my AWD in the snow. Mileage is down 6 tenths of a mpg. They seem to hop over bumps and potholes instead of a crashing sound. The tire is quiet at lower speeds and is flawless on newer blacktop roads. My backup choice was the Pirelli Scorpion AS Plus 3 so I guess I'll give the latest Pirelli's a try when the LX25's go or the noise forces me to change them out.
My used Kia Sportage came with barely legal tread (4/32"). They are very noisy and hydroplaned badly. Hankook Optimas. Might be simply a tread depth issue.
I would say anything but the Continentals. And I am a huge Continental fan. These LX25’s have a very hard tread compound which is how they get such a big longevity score bit it brings a pretty loud tire with it. Take a look at the Pirelli all season verde. I bought those to replace the LX25’s and I could not be happier.

It could be the type of roads. I just purchased a set and they are so freakin loud on our Pennsylvania white top roads. They are super quiet on black top roads and highways though. I've only driven 400 miles on them but they are putting out 80 decibels....so I'm looking to see if the Continental True Contact Tours or General Altimax RT45's might be quieter for me

To see if changing OE tires does any good, I researched full-size SUV / truck tires, but not much reviews found on 285/45-R22 lower profile / larger diameter tires. Then I came across your video, a rare story directly applies to my truck, so I was very pleased to watch your videos. I certainly hear that annoying growls of Cross Contact LX25 tires. Your report saves tons of time and money of many people! I really appreciate your warning comment about poor wet performance of the OE Hankook Dynapro HT tires. I couldn’t imagine the quiet and smooth tire is prone to lose grips on a wet road, because I live in Los Angeles and driving on dry surface 95% of my time. I found the same issue was pointed out by a 2019 Expedition owner at Tire Rack site: “the tendency to hydroplane is pretty bad”. Our streets get flooded by a bit of heavy rain occasionally, so I am cautiously driving with 4WD if I run into the situation. Before next rainy season starts, I hope to install new tires with decent wet grip that I can count on for the safety of my family. Certainly, Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Plus II is my best candidate, thanks to your full review on it. I have one more candidate - Continental Terrain Contact A/T, because Tire Rack 4-way dry/wet driving test video with F-150 showed the best results, also many raving reviews by SUV / truck owners noted so quiet like good H/T tires with impressive wet traction. An owner of Expedition Platinum just like yours posts a positive review at Continental site, saying “there isn’t any noticeable noise at all”. Good question. I did not like the Conti's...I had them removed after about 3,000 miles as they were very loud. I might have had a bad set...who knows. I have driven Yoko Geo's in the past and they ride soft and I definitely saw a drop on MPG. I would go Conti if the choice was between those 2 tires. Thank you.

Thanks for the specific info! I was about to order these, but now I'm thinking twice. I have a 2008 acura mdx which desperately needs a new set of tires. Somehow I still have two of the oem replacements I bought years ago, goodyear eagle ls-2, and michelins on the back. I know, never split! But I was in a jam. Well, now I'm ready for a new set and after weeks of analyzing tire options I settles on these continental. Looks like it's back to the drawing board!
Lol I tried dws, great traction in rain but a little bit noisier than LX25, especially at low speed. ( thank the thin noise insulation on my xc90) Continental offers 60 days grace period so I ended up swap for a set of lx25.

I have this on an Audi Q7. I dont have any problems. Conti LX25 is much better than the OEMs
I am a pet transporter. I travel the entire lower 48 states. In the last 10 months i have driven more than a truck driver. 160,000. miles in the last 10 months. I drive a 2018 Toyota Sienna XLE fwd. There was a small amount of road noise the first 500 miles until they got broke in. I have figured out where the noise comes from. It is on concrete roads instead of asphalt. My size is 235/60r/17 crosscontact lx25 rated for 70000 miles i got 80000 miles out of them Still have the DWS on them. I have noticed a slight break in traction now that i am over the recommended mileage but not before 77750. My vote is still out on some cold weather roads such as the northeast where there are sharp turns and and gravel in the roads. I feel like the rear wants to slide some but it actually hasnt and some slick wet roads i get a little of the same feeling. Snow is good traction asphalt on dry wet and snow good traction. I'm going to see if there is a better tire available for my needs this year but overall i am very happy with the tires. I am an excessive driver compared to the average driver. I encounter temperature differences from 121° in California to 0° in New Hampshire all within the same week. I just want a more secure feeling on the mountains and gravel highways in Pennsylvania to the slick roads when wet in Texas. I transport pets costing in excess of $70,000. each so I can't afford the risk of anything happening. I don't think anything would with the continental but i just want to make sure. I would recommend this tire for someone wanting long life on their tires and good normal everyday driving.

BS....Have these LX25's on my Highlander and they are great 3k miles and would definitely purchase for my other vehicles. I must add they still look brand spanking new!!!
I have a friend who placed these tires on his Infiniti a month ago and he has the same loud noise as I had. Maybe these tires suffer from some sort of inconsistent manufacturing. Discount tire took mine back without a question and sent me Pirellis for free. Night and day difference on my Expedition.
@@AdventuringToday I'm surprised with your comment about road noise. The reviews on tire rack are very good especially when it come too road noise. About your comment about inconsistent manufacturing there maybe something to that since I have a relative who works for continental, and you wouldn't believe the rubber they through away from the mistakes. I will say the Big shots coming over from Germany are not happy about it and they are cracking down on the folks at the N.C. plant. So you could have very well got tires that weren't quite right.

I second this, LX25 on my 17 Highlander is a much better tire than the Michelins that I had. The Michelins also had a tread flaking issue, alignment was checked and within spec. I think these are quiet, have a supple and firm road feel. The old LX20s I had felt like they were riding tall on the tread and like they distorted more on corners and curves. The LX25s feel more stable in curves and corners at the cost of less softness. I like this though since the rubber still has a soft quality about it, like a high quality and durable, supple rubber. Odd tip, if you use your fingernail and press into a tire, then scratch it, if you pay attention carefully to the feel you can learn a lot about tire compositions and relate it to their characteristics.
This is one guy's opinion on one set of tires. I have them on my Tahoe and they're really quiet.
I got those tire on my Subaru Outback and they are really good. I love them. They are so quiet. I don’t have that noise problem at all. Great tires!
Interesting review, I have tried lx20 LX25 and Michelin PREMIER Ltx. Michelin is the quietest tire, but tread life is just average. Lx 20 got better tread life but a little bit noisy. Lx25 is so much quieter than 20, I will say it’s almost as smooth as Michelin . Are you sure you put correct tire pressure on yours?

I put a sound meter b4 switching from Michelin. Exactly the same sound,, The continental Lx 25 Great in all NY weather. This guy must got a bad set.
Interesting video but we have nothing but great things to say about these tires. Grip is good in all conditions, they’re quiet and tread wear has been awesome.

Thats wild how it works. I have them on my suv and ride as good with less vibration issues than the michelin premiers i had.
It’s probably a mechanical hum that you didn’t notice until you got a tire that’s quieter than you had before.
Just put them on my 2019 Mazda CX5 Signature - not very good with road noise and they have way too much lateral play, it feels like the car is sliding on ice. I do not like them at all!
I have Continental True Contact Tour on my 2013 Honda CR-V AWD, which is a 80,000 mile tire and they are quite as can be. Absolutely love them. Even if the were a little noisy I wouldn’t replace them with a Perelli that only last 35,000
I had the opposite. I just had them take off the Pirellis verde off my highlander because after 8,000 miles the car just hums from 10mph to 40mph. The radio didn’t even drown it out. I just bought those continentals to help

I bought a set of LX25's and had the same problem. For me, the sound would happen at highway speeds. The only time I didn't hear the s humming sound was a stretch of freshly paved highway. I went back to Les Schwab twice after getting my tires installed to figure out what was going on. They found no issues that would cause the sound I was hearing.
Luckily Les Schwab has a 30 day return policy and I exchanged the tires and paid the difference in price. I swapped them out with the Toyo Open Country QT. The guy at Les Schwab told me that the LX25 are the quietest tires and changing them out won't make any differences. He was wrong. I drove on the highway and the noise was gone. Maybe I got a bad set of LX25 tires, either way, I won't be buying LX25's anytime soon.
I've had these (LX25s) on my 2018 Highlander for over 60k miles now. Great tires, no more road noise than the crappy original Bridgestones which were worn out at 23k miles ! I'm getting ready to order another full set this month. Your mileage may vary but in my 52 years of driving dozens of vehicles these are the best tires I have ever purchased, bar none.
I may have had some bad tires. I have always had good luck with Conti's in the past. These just didn't work for me. Maybe next time! Happy you are enjoying yours!!!
These tires are the worst. My Ford Edge ST has 15k and are wearing a lot with THREE rotations and one alignment. DO NOT BUY THEM.
I have to say the crosscontact LX25 are the quietest tires I have ever had, don’t understand why you have noises but by watching your other videos with different tires, seems you still have same noises. Installed my lx25 a month ago on my 2018 Highlander no noises at all, outstanding performance on wet roads, better riding than original michelin tires.
It's his vehicle not the tire. Conti's make some of THE BEST tires on the market.
I'm on my 2nd set of LX20's on my Acura MDX SUV, both sets have lasted to about 45-50K miles before they start to hydroplane. I've noticed they get louder over time but that is the case with most tires. The snow performance is the best of any all season tire I've used and I just purchased a set of the LX25s which has a different tread pattern, hopefully they are just as good. I've never experienced any hums, just the usual tire noise as they age especially on concrete highways.
I run the Pirelli Cinturato P7 on my Acura TL Sedan and they are much quieter and have much better wet and dry performance compared to the Michelin Pilots the car came from the factory with. The only problem with the Pirelli Cinturato's is the snow performance is poor. I'm planning on buying the Pirelli Verde's for the wife's Caddilac SRX SUV this fall and will see how they compare to the LX25's. It is currently running the Kumho Solis which is a really terrible tire, only 25K on them and they are very loud and have poor wet and dry traction, forget driving in the snow. They were OK for the first 10K miles but went downhill fast.
So your issue is noise....and that seems to only be an issue in your case

Odd that the Volvo's that I have come standard with the Scorpions and everyone bails on them because they ride hard, wear terrible and are loud! Everyone recommended the Cont LX25's and have had no issues at all. Everyone's different I suppose.

I thought so but I have a friend in Ohio who put these on his wife’s Infiniti and he said the same thing right after getting them installed. I switched to Pirelli all season verdes and could not be happier. Plus the MPG increase of the all season verdes is awesome.
Ive had the LX20s (which i loved), Toyos and now the LX25s on my AWD Murano. I have the road noise issue however, they are still quieter than the Toyos. Generally I love Contis for the grip in the critical 28-36F temp zone. But on my Murano the noise only starts around 50 mph.

What a load of crap! Have a set on my Touareg and have them half worn out and by far the quietest tires and does everything well but nothing perfect. Maybe he needs to find the actual cause of the noise because its not those tires. You can easily see they aren’t even cupped.

I now have roughly 37,000 miles on my LX25's. At no point have they had road noise that bothered me, and they have performed great in every condition I've driven in so far. I have 6/32 left on all four tires at present. My vehicle is tested to have an interior dB level of 67-68 at 70mph. The 2017 3.5L Ecoboost F150 shows to have been tested to have a cabin noise at the same speed of 67dB, as well, so it is apples to apples. The only thing I can think of is the different size tires perform differently, as their harmonics indeed must vary. That said, this is a specific tire size/vehicle issue, not completely a tire issue across the line, as mine are awesome.
It's NOT a tire issue. It's your vehicle. Continentals are some of THE BEST tires on the market competing very closely with Michelin.

Sir! I would of went with Michelin Defender MS2 for the Expedition. My second choice would of been Uniroyal Touring Tire then the Hercules brand. I had a bad Experience with those Italian tires you just bought.
Cruz Mascorro Thank you for the comments. I tried defenders on a previous SUB and got terrible feathering of the tread at 10,000 miles. Michelin would not back the tires. Pirellis have alway worked good for me even though they are not my favorite overall brand. We will see how they work. I will say this. I can already see a sustained higher MPG experience vs the Continentals and the previous Hankooks.
I have a Dodge Charger scat pack but my dad has a Nissan Pathfinder , he uses LX Crosscontact continental on all wheels amd has no issue , I use his car for work and I’ve never had a problem with them , they are good for rain.

I have the same exact issue with my 2020 Acura MDX. I thought there was a problem with the car. I too have about 2k on them and it's just annoying as heck! The hum is much more apparent on concrete roads than on tar rods. So, I know it's the tire. If I go back to the dealer will they replace? Or, do I have to deal with Continental directly?

Just installed the Continental LX 25`s today and have to say the tire is great!. No road noise and smooth ride. Not sure why he was getting the loud noise on his set. bad set maybe?..... So far impressed with Continentals.

I decided to put the same tires I have on my Challenger on her car The Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4. Rim Protector, softer compound, great traction and quiet ride. They were hard to find, my car Dealership is special ordering them for me.
Reviews on Tire Rack do not indicate that this tire has excessive road noise. And CR's testing show this to be a "quieter than average" tire. Also, I had these on my Outback and they were actually quiet. This review makes no sense to me.
Omg! I thought I was the only one! I put 22s in my x5 m50, nice wheels but came with generic tires, and around 50-60mph it would have this weird humming sound, I replaced them with nexan tires, noise went away at 50mph, but has weird noises over rough surfaces and sounds like a hollow hum sound again…so someone said the wider the tires the louder the tire, so I was going to drop from 285s to 275s in front and was looking at the continental contisilent wheels..

Comparing an Expedition POS to a Benz, Audi, RR etc is just ridiculous. It's no where's close to them. I would fathom to guess that it's the truck that is responsible for not damping out the road noise based on the comments.

Maybe just maybe your ears and your mind are listening for excess noise, turn the volume up on your radio, these times have been excellent on my wife's Qx60 and she's pretty picky on excess tite noise.
We just bought a used Lexus with new LX25’s installed. Short drives around town ok, BUT…. on interstate these tires were extremely noisy. In some areas tires made so much we couldn’t even talk. Never had Continental tires before and will have to replace them this year after about 2,000 miles on them.

Idk if I want to keep mine. My 2022 Chevrolet Blazer came with these and 4000 miles later the treads are starting to come apart.
What makes it frustrating is that my tire size 265/45r21 and the tires are not cheap at all. My only other choice is a cheap Bridgestone Dueler, Perelli Scorpion AS Zero, Yokohama Geolandar and a couple of Michelins (latitude and Crossclimat).
For the price, I'm really debating on moving to a 20" rim and purchase a Firestone Destination LE3 tire.

These are not meant for your truck. Just because they make the size doesn’t mean they are for trucks. They are a crossover tire.
Those scores do not have good tread pattern fo snow sure they will be quieter but safety over noise levels are my priority in upstate new york in the winter.
Do not buy from Quick Lane Tire - they are giving me a hard time returning/replacing my x25 with another brand!

I just had these installed on my 2019 Highlander and they don’t make a lot of road noise, but I do get a lot of unwanted feedback from the road. It’s as if you can feel every little imperfection in the road and the vibrations resonate back into the vehicle. Almost feels like tires aren’t balanced, but I’ve had them professionally balanced 3 times now…
When you say "these", Pirelli or Conti? I have the same gen. Highlander and am looking for a replacement for the Toyo Country somethings.. which are amazingly quiet, but not good in snow.

Continental. They also seem to cause a vibration until they get up to operating temperature and then it gets better. They do a great job in the snow here in upstate ny.
I mean. I love the tires for what they are in terms of being a great performing all season tire. In upstate NY they do a good job in the winter weather. But I’m not sure if I got a bad set or what. I’ve literally used these tires on a jeep grand Cherokee, ford focus and now my highlander.

I just installed the LX25 on my 2018 RV4 XLE. I had Michelin's as original equipment. Very quiet and smooth the day they were installed was raining and felt good. I live on the east coast don't know with will happen in the snow. My brother works at a Porsche dealership and recommended Pirelli Scorpions. I only had Pirelli tires once on a Honda never again.

Maybe vehicles with frames transmit the noise more readily than unibody ones. IDK, just guessing.
Could be size dependent too. For example, taller sidewall narrower sizes for smaller SUVs may be more compliant and transmit less into the chassis than an XL load rated wide truck tire.

THis is a tire I am considering for my '14 Honda CR-V. All of the professional reviews I have read state this is a quiet tire. Consumer Reports gives it the highest mark for "Noise" = 5, meaning quiet. Can't explain your contrary experience.
Hi...This could have been a case of a bad tire. I do know that when I replaced them with Pirelli Scorpion All Season Plus's the truck quieted down like normal. I have owned several Continentals over the years and have never had a problem. So I would trust the online reviews and buy with confidence. I have since replaced that Expedition with a 2022 as our 2018 got totaled in a rear end accident. I currently have General Grabber HTS 60's on my truck (OEM stock). I am going to get about 30,000 out of them and I think I'm going with the Pirelli Scorpions AS 3's that are the updated version of those tires. I was bummed those Continentals LX25's didn't work out for me but have had great luck with Pirelli so I want to try out this latest version of that tire. I do think the LX25's are a premium tire and it should work out great for you. Hope that helps!

I purchased the LX25's for my Nissan Rogue and I think they are VERY loud on the white top roads and highways of SE Pennsylvania. I only have 300 miles so far and they've quieted down some, so I'm hoping they improve more with break in period. They hug the road so well though and I feel like they would be invincible with my AWD in the snow. Mileage is down 6 tenths of a mpg. They seem to hop over bumps and potholes instead of a crashing sound. The tire is quiet at lower speeds and is flawless on newer blacktop roads. My backup choice was the Pirelli Scorpion AS Plus 3 so I guess I'll give the latest Pirelli's a try when the LX25's go or the noise forces me to change them out.
My used Kia Sportage came with barely legal tread (4/32"). They are very noisy and hydroplaned badly. Hankook Optimas. Might be simply a tread depth issue.

I would say anything but the Continentals. And I am a huge Continental fan. These LX25’s have a very hard tread compound which is how they get such a big longevity score bit it brings a pretty loud tire with it. Take a look at the Pirelli all season verde. I bought those to replace the LX25’s and I could not be happier.

It could be the type of roads. I just purchased a set and they are so freakin loud on our Pennsylvania white top roads. They are super quiet on black top roads and highways though. I've only driven 400 miles on them but they are putting out 80 decibels....so I'm looking to see if the Continental True Contact Tours or General Altimax RT45's might be quieter for me

To see if changing OE tires does any good, I researched full-size SUV / truck tires, but not much reviews found on 285/45-R22 lower profile / larger diameter tires. Then I came across your video, a rare story directly applies to my truck, so I was very pleased to watch your videos. I certainly hear that annoying growls of Cross Contact LX25 tires. Your report saves tons of time and money of many people!
I really appreciate your warning comment about poor wet performance of the OE Hankook Dynapro HT tires. I couldn’t imagine the quiet and smooth tire is prone to lose grips on a wet road, because I live in Los Angeles and driving on dry surface 95% of my time. I found the same issue was pointed out by a 2019 Expedition owner at Tire Rack site: “the tendency to hydroplane is pretty bad”. Our streets get flooded by a bit of heavy rain occasionally, so I am cautiously driving with 4WD if I run into the situation.
Before next rainy season starts, I hope to install new tires with decent wet grip that I can count on for the safety of my family.
Certainly, Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Plus II is my best candidate, thanks to your full review on it.
I have one more candidate - Continental Terrain Contact A/T, because Tire Rack 4-way dry/wet driving test video with F-150 showed the best results, also many raving reviews by SUV / truck owners noted so quiet like good H/T tires with impressive wet traction. An owner of Expedition Platinum just like yours posts a positive review at Continental site, saying “there isn’t any noticeable noise at all”.

Good question. I did not like the Conti's...I had them removed after about 3,000 miles as they were very loud. I might have had a bad set...who knows. I have driven Yoko Geo's in the past and they ride soft and I definitely saw a drop on MPG. I would go Conti if the choice was between those 2 tires. Thank you.

Somehow I still have two of the oem replacements I bought years ago, goodyear eagle ls-2, and michelins on the back. I know, never split! But I was in a jam. Well, now I'm ready for a new set and after weeks of analyzing tire options I settles on these continental. Looks like it's back to the drawing board!

These tires are great, not loud at all.
I was looking at the LX25 for my X5 and I end up buying the ExtremeContact DWS 06. Great tires so far, glad that I did not purchase the LX25.
Lol I tried dws, great traction in rain but a little bit noisier than LX25, especially at low speed. ( thank the thin noise insulation on my xc90) Continental offers 60 days grace period so I ended up swap for a set of lx25.
