Is the Blood Punch the spookiest cocktail?

  • I have known Adrian Eustaquio for a long time. We wouldn't be buddies if it wasn't for tiki.
The episode was filmed live from his Desert Oasis Room, the location where he films his own "Inside the Desert Oasis Room" podcast and his youtube show.
I was excited to try his "Blood Punch," a cocktail that he invented. I've seen him post this drink on IG a zillion times and I've always been curious about it. When I heard the ingredients/ proportions, I was shocked at how simple it was!
I think it's way tougher to come up with a simple and delicious drink that hasn't been done before than come up with some big complicated thing that you're throwing every ingredient in the world at.
We talk about the old days of the tiki resurgence and list off just about every tiki bar in the Bay Area. Hope you dig the show!
To make the the drink in the video you will need:
    --------------------------------------
    1 oz lime juice
    1 oz Fassinola
    2 oz light rum
    --------------------------------------
Mix all ingredients on high with ice and serve in a double old fashioned glass. Garnish either with flowers or a spent lime shell, a plastic eyeball, and a green tentacle.

Great episode, as always, but there is one SERIOUS thing I have to comment on: if you should stop mentioning the rum brands and other brands you use, that would significantly affect the informatical (a new word there?) side of your show. Your show is THE PLACE where I get the ideas for what rums to buy. Where else am I going to get that information? I will not start buying random rums to try at these booze prices. So please, pretty please with sugar on top, keep showing what brands you use even if the other guy doesn't. (Blaming the rum makers for not sponsoring is a cop-out).

Get the Smuggler’s Cove cocktail book. The rum types and brands are well laid out in that book.

@@nickmorton8998 Yep, and every single one in there is worth having. Remember though, it's not an exhaustive list. There's plenty good rums not on the list for one reason or another. For anyone willing to learn all there is to know about rum and to be introduced to tiki, it's an absolute must-have book.

@@nickmorton8998 Was going to say the same thing but you beat me to it. Personally i think it is one of the best books on Tiki available. And just because drinks might specify specific brands that doesn't mean you can't use a different brand, or even a different type of rum, and not get great results. At the end of the day, taste is purely subjective, so there are no hard and fast rules.

@@nickmorton8998 I've had the book for a while now, it's very good.

I agree, a good tiki book is worth its weight in gold. I don't have the Smuggler's Cove book, but I have three books, Liquid Vacation, 77 Refreshing Tropical Drinks From Frankie’s Tiki Room In Las Vegas, Easy Tiki: A Modern Revival with 60 Recipes, and Tiki Modern Tropical Cocktails. They help guide me with what ingredients to get. Not saying this show hasn't helped with that too and would like to keep hearing the names of the brands used. I feel like Hamilton Rums get a pass since Ed Hamilton has been a guest on the show.

    • @chunkymurps
      @chunkymurps Год назад

What it technically is is a 'sour', which is what the daiquiri is. And all sours are a spirit, citrus and sweetener, but i've always known the golden ratio to be 4:2:1 respectively.
