If I were you I'd try two things. First - find an intake manifold from a J37A4 (4-gen Acura TL, I think the 3.7RL manifold is about the same as well), fit a Blox or Skunk2 74-76 mm throttle body to it. The gains from this mod are very impressive to say the least. I'd also go for a CAI (the base of the filter only has to be at about the same level as where the stock resonator box connects to the factory air cleaner, it doesn't have to go all the way down the bumper - this was a recommendation I got from P2R a few years ago).
@@thousandcranescloth the throttle body I fitted to my J37 IM was cable actuated (it was originally designed for a B-series). I did have to use a P2R adapter to get it to fit though.
So like usual a week or two goes by and I see some cl content and it's not yours and then BOOM.... here you are. She breathing heavy and sounding crazy. That was a real update and good job by your ppl installing. BTW..... nothing jdm can sound ricey. They made to be upgraded and sound naturally aspirated with that vtec😎
If these are the so-called "big tube", and not the later "long-tube" headers - I actually bought an early version back in 2018, and it was a bit of a nightmare to get them to fit to my car (I have a 2001 Honda Inspire, essentially the right-hand drive version of the Acura TL of the same year). Had to do a bunch of cutting and welding to get them to fit (good on P2R for giving me partial refund when I told them about my problem). I had a local exhaust system fabricator fully re-do the J-pipe, and now my car definitely feels much stronger than when I was running my old DC-Sports headers.
@@SteffanJohal if you're running the big tube headers, you wouldn't by any chance know what sort of gaskets fit them? I mean the ones located where the headers connect to the J-pipe. Even P2R couldn't give me a good answer, although they're the ones who sold me the headers in the first place lol. Apparently they're the same as on a Nissan 350Z?
Try and upgrade to the biggest throttle body you can find to better match the 3” intake. Get the ecu dyno tuned or at least get a fuel pressure riser/regulator, because you’ll be running lean. There’s another 15 HP minimum right there!
I plan to either find a throttle body spacer, or use a b series throttle body. I don't want to go DBW I want to keep the cable. As for ecu, next year we go AEM!
Someone stole my catalytic converter a year ago so my CL is really loud. I want to get the cat back on because I'm in California and here it's needed to pass smog. Also, the one required is more expensive, another reason I've waited to replace. Was the headers and installation very expensive? I'm wanting more power too. I have the type s all black btw.
The headers are not just bolt on and go, and the engine has to be basically raised out of the engine bay with a jack, and there is welding required. P2R also recommends you get new or upgraded mounts, because it is such a tight squeeze. It cost me around $2,000 CAD for just the installation lol.
@steffan johal hey brother I need your help! I just bought these P2R for the cls6 but what did you do with the sensor that went into the down pipe? (J pipe) did you delete it with the cat sensor as well and just have no o2 sensors at all? Please lmk so I know what’s the proper way to install these 🙏🏼
Buy the oil lube kit at the dealer. It has a special adapter that replaced the trans fill plug and takes fluid from the outlet side on the transmission filter. The 5 speed auto. The ,4 speed didn't have that issue with the second gear starvation. It's a recall item. Parts guy might not be familiar but a technician would.
Also you should get a 3.7 top end manifold. I did that to mines. Get MSD ignition coils too. And a bigger exhaust pipe and a Egr valve delete. I have those and it’s MINT
@@SteffanJohal I just spoke to p2r and they said that they didn’t had to lift anything to put the headers on. Yet again the CL and the TL are different styles so who never knows
@@linoserrato7651 if P2R said so, then you should be good I would imagine, but for me I know the engine had to be lifted because otherwise the header wouldn't clear, like It would have not even fit like a straight bolt on header

CLS is drive by wire and j37a4 is not. Did they say how to remedy that? I have 2 j37a4 IMs with the TBs and have been trying to figure this out.

@@SwapBlogRU how did you fit a j37 IM onto a j32a2 lower manifold tho? And which one did you use?
@@thousandcranescloth it just bolts right on. I ran a J37A1 manifold for a while, then upgraded to one for a J37A2.
@@SwapBlogRU ah. So the j37a1 bolts on but not the j37a4, correct? (Because of the butterfly valve on the passenger side of the manifold.)
Cool to see someone running these headers
Thanks man!

I am pretty sure I have the big tube ones exactly. And they barely barely fit. That's great to hear from p2r as well.

Interested in j32 content, its pretty weak out here so you got my support 😅 jseries ftw!
I appreciate you man, I got content coming hopefully for awhile
Are PR2 Headers as good or better than the comptech headers? Also have you ever heard of XS-P Headers?
I am pretty sure the p2r ones for the cl are the best ones, and maybe I can remember hearing about xsp but not exactly sure.
Cool hopefully shida sounds like this

Did you get a bung for the 02 sensor with your headers?
so the headers dont come with gaskets?
what's up with the RTV?
im hoping they seal correctly on their own.. they SHOULD.
They did come with gaskets, but for some reason the shop decided not to use them it seems.
Cool👍💪🔥🤝💯
Thank you!
Oh shit! That's a lot! Welp, wish list it goes.
Yeah man, it's a crazy job but ultimately it was worth it. This car is on a new level with the headers.

Easy place to start is a cold air intake or an intake manifold spacer
