So almost not audible, would be interesting if this G8 has no fan as I would rather not have a moving part in my monitor which can break/and/or cause irritating fan noise.
@@Dew4lk aha..good to know that the AW has a fan. What i found on a Reddit user Review: Noise: The G8 is silent, as there is no fan. This is for me the biggest advantage the G8 has. Some people say that it needs the fan as OLEDs get hot during usage, so you decide which one you want. I prefer silence, so I am glad that the G8 is fanless.
"The stand sucks". Thanks for the explanation. I just got this monitor in yesterday and decided for it over the AW partly bc of the stand. It doesnt intrude on your desk as much and you can actually store stuff on it so its like its not even there. You also could have mentioned the enourmous power supply. Does the AW have one like that too? Thankfully I noticed no issues with my monitor so far and hope it will last a long time. Also what about the pixel care settings? Should I worry about it?
i've had it for 2 months, i've had a lot of monitors, even a 4k 144hz, and currently also have a C1. but i'm still more conented with this. i'm very happy with it and have no complaints. You can't have all perfect in life anyway.
Few days with these monitors and haven't run into any major issues. Samsung currently has it for $1000, down from $1500, also happened to be eligible for the Samsung EPP discount which brought it down to $800. At almost 50% off, I couldn't argue with the priced compared to other OLED's let alone QD-OLED. Color fringing doesn't seem existent on windows11, seeing people only report it on w10. Either i'm blind, or I don't sit close enough to my monitor but i've yet to see this problem and honestly did not know about it until I saw reviews looking for color calibration options from professionals. Signal loss seems to be my only issue so far, and it's not even mid gaming or anything obnoxious/dramatic inbetween gameplay or something important. What happens for me is if you let the screen time out (being AFK) upon coming back there's a low chance the singal might not be found and you have to fiddle around with unplugging cables real quick/restarting PC but the solution to this is if you know you are going to step away for a long period if time, manually shut down with the remote provided and you'll never run into this issue. It's only when it times out due to inactivity. Coming from the 2017 Samsung CHG70 which is also a HDR (shitty btw) 144h curved (27 inch) monitor, I couldn't be more happier with my purchase that took me 7 years basically to find a worthwhile upgrade. It was honestly between this one and the Alienware one, along with the LG C2/C3 (size was the biggest con for me here as 42 is way too huge) but 34 is a definite sweetspot IMHO. All in all this was a massive W going to 175 hz, a QD-OLED display. Being a smart monitor with the multimedia is also a pro, no con's here and every app I tested works flawlessly. Disney+, Amazon Video, RUclips all working great. At $1500 I will that's very steep and the Alienware would be the better alternative but when you can grab it on discount and if it's lower than the Alienware one it's a 100% must buy.
@@ketxyz Haven't had any issues so far, still very happy with my purchase. The only con I have is i've seen the Dell Alienware aw323423dwf drop to $799 currently and I probably would of gone with that over the Samsung if the price was the same at the time I purchased mine
@@asuna9838 i bought mine and i have a few issues. Im getting screen artefacts, its making a strange whistling noise and sometimes it has difficulty to wake up i turn on my pc. Any of those that you have encountered?
Well i ended up returning my monitor. First of all ive got the coils that where whining when clear content was displayed. Second thing - netflix works but its displaying at 1/3 of the screen. Zoom option is disabled for netflix and hell no, it was ridiculous to find a fix. Ill be waiting for the next generation, as i ended up being very disappointed
i am really happy with this monitor, and i find it to be a blessing that it does not have the G-sync module and all the fan-noise that it comes with. And the mini-dp/HDMI is not an issue at all for me. I bought a mini-hdmi to hdmi, and then i have 175hz 12Bit color. I would recommend the G8 :)
I'm actually glad this doesn't have a Gsync module, all it would do is increase both cost and delay. Yes, Gsync modules has worse response times than a display without Gsync.
Hey noob ? Why dose that give worst response, I have Gsync off as well most YTers say turn off , but it was built to work better with nividia gpu correct? I understand it don’t , and if you use 3Dmark says turn off not to effect score . Dose free sync do the same ?

I used Samsung EPP discount to purchase it with a price tag at $1200. At this price, it seems to be worth the additional price compared to AW3423dwf. Samsung has HDMI 2.1 and can get to 12bit@175Hz which is better than the AW3423dwf's 10bit@100Hz. I also like Samsung's stand better than Alienware's. However my unit has QC issues as well. It has a dead pixel and TV static was observed as shown in your video as well. End up returning this unit and reordered one. I'll see if I can be luckier next time.
@@shantaosun4119 I just bought this monitor (have it in the box for now, waiting for a distro plate to complete my pc). How do I check for this "tv static"? What programs did you open that introduced that issue?? Did you have a PS5 or console attached at the time it happened??
@@UptownNYC I observed the 'TV static' randomly on any occasions such as playing games, videos or even just browsing websites. That happens on my day one experience. I just bought this monitor, what won over me was the minimum bezil and colour ring at back. I'm not a Samsung fan as I got adverts periodically on my physical dvds somehow on a old led smart tv. But loved the min look and the built in tv interface and honestly I haven't driven it long yet but as far as unboxing and a few hours of use I'm gobsmacked as it looks even better in person it's light and setup was super easy, on my phone lol. I with it had gsync but honestly worst thing I did was get locked to nvidia, even if gsync is wow
Bought mine a week ago for $650. It's so incredible that I won't buy anything else until it dies. Zero quality control problems either. I'm not sure how the HDR isn't considered bright when it blinds me. 😂 He didn't touch on the fact it's true black, so there is zero pixel bleed and thus the black around the edges of any pixels that are lit are extremely defined. It makes clarity go way up even though it's 1440p, it seems as clear as my brothers neo g8 4k monitor. Having a gloss finish also increases brightness, color AND definition.
I have the LG27 oled and this G8 trying to decide which one I want to keep. The LG is definitely faster for FPS games but the Samsung is beautiful and looks awesome! I don’t have the any issues with my G8 but just don’t know if it’s worth $600 more than the LG as I manly play FPS games.
I am in the same boat. I am currently using the LG27, but I want to try an ultrawide so I am going to pick up the G8 tomorrow and test it out. I might splurge a little more for the LG45, but that might be a little big.
@@Dew4lk I kept the LG do to mostly playing fps games like cod, warzone, apex. The 240 hz screen is so fast and I always end up putting he G8 in 16.9 when I play those sonny eyes aren’t panning all over. But if I didn’t play mostly fps I would have kept the Samsung g8 oled.
@@Dew4lk I am currently using the LG27, LG45, and Samsung G8 OLEDs. I think I am keeping the Samsung. They are all beautiful displays, but for me the Samsung is the perfect size. The LG45 is an incredible display, but the size and curve are a bit too much. The LG27 is the only one I had color fringing issues with text on, so it wouldn’t be the best for productivity. I don’t mind the 175hz limitation, as I haven’t noticed a difference playing FPS games.
I would always take the ultrawide aspect ratio over the higher hz. I just love having the extra peripheral vision in games and being the same aspect ratio of movies is also nice.
Based upload. Great review, steer clear of Samsung displays until they up their QC. Funny how the Alienware DW monitor is superior in nearly every metric while being significantly more affordable lmao
I don't understand why people don't like the fact ots not as bright in smaller sections as I would not want the sun in the background being 1000nits making it hard to look at and blasting out the rest of the image
So this is currently $550 on Samsung with EPP. Should I get this as my first OLED experience on a budget or pony up for the newer version (G85SD) for $720?
I’m happy with mine, I’m glad it’s not too bright, being an oled it’s super dark screen means it doesn’t need to be overly bright, and the last thing you need is screen burn, lg does like overly bright oled, but suffer badly with burn in
Just purchased this monitor after extensive study... Why i buy g8 oled? Qd oled Glossy coating Decent build in speaker Tizen OS Nice slim panel and stand design Also 40 % discount I have considered monitor announced from ces 2024, however decide to get this instead
Do you worry about the burn in problems? Or other quality issues of this monitor. Not sure if i should buy this one for $678 or the lg 34GN850-B for $529.
For $1,500 just buy a high end 4k oled TV & get more pixels. If you really want to, you could do a custom resolution on your pc to get only a wide-screen image.
@@ronniekregar3482 agreed, but the context is for a video advising not to buy a specific model oled display for your PC, not "don't use any oled as a monitor," so the target audience are those who are still determined to buy oled for their pc. Did you have right curve correction for QD-OLED in DisplayCAL? G8 has it's strong sides (over DELL or Philips on the same matrix display, the last one is MSI) - full caribration options, HDMI 2.1 (40gb, when MSI has 48gb), HDR 10+ (working on aps form Tizen) and HDR10+ gaming (working only on NV gpus), Tizen OS and apps, noiseless (when Philips and Dell without F aren't). Some are small, and it has to be said, only DELL without "F" and MSI can work without issues with AMD gpus. Samsung, Dell with "F" and Philips have issues with AMD gpus (lowering max lumi and flickering with VRR more). Additional downsides of Sasmung are: lacking of usb hub, lacking audio output for speakers/headphones. All 5 monitors on that QD-OLED 1st gen Display are great.
Premiere Pro and Lightroom actually have stuttering issues when using with a G-Sync display and having G-Sync enabled. I have to disable G-Sync to smoothly use them. It seems like a known bug that Adobe isn’t willing to address.
Hello. If it is the same price as the Alienware version, or even about $50 dollars cheaper, would you consider a recommendation on this one over Alienware?
downside of the alienware monitor with the same panel as this: G-sync fan noise additional input latency (about 5ms or so, this is due to G-sync) Slightly more expensive
This screen sucks, glitched black screen everyday starting up PC. Must hold power to reset but that aint working always neither. Black screen but with sound. Seems they sold it this way. Workarounds yes, but so we buy stuff with workarounds these days. Not recommending buying this, oled is very nice thats so but only when it turns on properly . I just took me 7 minutes again to have my screen working, 13 times power button reset bla bla bla and it works! Congratulations
The Alienware 34 QDOLED does not have HDMI 2.1, but this one does. For gaming and movies it is great. for regular PC get a 2d monitor. I am buying this and when I am not gaming, I will use my 32 inch IPS
I have the G9 OG, the blacks are terrible, and I am considering a new monitor. Would it smarter to wait for a G9 OLED or would the smaller size be fine after a while?
That's because Samsung Display and the vendors do the QC. Samsung Display is truly awesome but Samsung Electronics (which is responsible for this crap) rests in pure ignorance of success and doesn't see a reason to not be incredibly lazy. Samsung Display actually manufacture the displays and is fully responsible for the R & D. Samsung Electronics is responsible for the products themselves, marketing and distribution. Despite the same name. One is good and the other one is useless. This monitor is a perfect example. Usually smart tvs are cheaper because they get royalties like putting netflix on your remote and collecting and selling your data. Meanwhile Samsung Electronics cheaps out further by using the same SOC as in their Tv's, collecting/selling your data AND having the audacity to charge 400 $ more than someone who doesn't buy it's displays from the parent company with the same panel. I like the design much better than the Alienware and if it would have been a full metal contruction (including the backside) it maybe would have been worth the extra as not only does that look premium but could also be used as a heatsink to push the panel more and give an actual advantage over the Alienware models. But as it stands now avoid at all costs since warranty is unclear (Samsung made different quotes if burn in is covered or not) and it's more expensive with terrible QC and horrible Tizen.
You can’t tell that Don’t buy or should buy. Monitor is like food, everybody have different taste on monitor also technology is not perfect that why they upgrade it every year. I love mind and its stand. My desk kind of not big and that stand helps me a lot.

It does have HDR 1000 mode, you need to turn off game HDR(HGIG), in the game settings, in picture settings turn peak brightness to high, after calibration with windows HDR calibration my G8 OLED shows 1000 nits, If you leave HGIG on it will clip to 400 nits!
@@Chrissage-Gaming it's good but it's still too dim for proper HDR, the S95B can push double the nits on a 10% window and on 50% window compared to this monitor and the S95C will be even brighter
@@dariomladenovski7047 you have to consider my 65in S95B is like 5x the size of my G8 OLED, so I'm not surprised it will be brighter on those Windows sizes. The G8 gets plenty bright enough for now, obviously I'd like some more brightness for highlights, but, I usually use the monitor on 35/40 brightness, so it does get quite bright as is. G-Sync module COULD be awesome and superior to VRR only. But Nvidia refuses to upgrade them. Did you know they still use the ANCIENT 28nm manufacturing node for it? 20nm for the version that supports HDR. That process node is from 2011/2014 !! No wonder that garbage has insane input lag, draws 15 watts of power AND needs a damn fan to keep it cool, on which everyone cheaps out on of course becaues why use something good like Noctua when you can save 15 bucks per unit on a well past 1k display and have users complain about fan noise? Excellent choise from both Nvidia refusing to update their ancient module which doesn't support DP 2.1 or HDMI 2.1, user upgradable firmware, dolby vision (how is that STILL not a thing on monitors in 2023!?), has terrible input lag (if processing really takes that long, which I highly doubt can't be improved with a newer process node, why not at least implement a "fast" mode that works like a regular scaler?), no out of the box hardware calibration feature that unlocks every setting and the list goes on and on. Given the price of that thing, the features it supports is downright pathetic and cheaping out with a process node from 2014 and forcing users to endure cheap fans from monitor makers is hilarious while at the same time not supporting essential features and the newest display cable standards just makes for a terrible of a product. Such incredible laziness from a company that during it's high was in the top 10 richest in the world should not be tolerated and needs to be punished by consumers by simply not buying it.

I used the Monitor for a couple of days but it has significant input lag compared to the Alienware. Another problem is the FreeSync can stutter like crazy. I wanted to keep this monitor very badly because of the looks but it just does not work for responsive and smooth gaming. Considering it is not cut out for office work or creative work, you should go for an LCD or the Alienware.
If you run it at 165 Hz and Free Sync activated you should be good. Input lag increases with lower Hz and FPS count, but that is to be expected from most monitors.
Tried a friend of mines g8 that they just got. Monitor flickered a few times, had a line across the bottom randomly, stuttered on the UFO test (I'm sure it's some setting) so bad that I could even really tell if motion blur was good or not, and when trying at 120 I could feel input lag that I usually can't. Noise: The G8 is silent, as there is no fan.

All 5 monitors on that QD-OLED 1st gen Display are great.

downside of the alienware monitor with the same panel as this:
G-sync fan noise
additional input latency (about 5ms or so, this is due to G-sync)

How about a fan? The G-Sync Model Alienware has an annoying fan, what about this Samsung?
The Samsung has no fans at all
Strange because their phone displays are perfect, and the best in the industry.

@@Bimbus2001 Placebo at its finest
Hey I have a AW3423DWF, I felt like some sort of input lag. Can you shed some light on the settings for the monitor and Windows? I have a AMD Gpu.
If you run it at 165 Hz and Free Sync activated you should be good. Input lag increases with lower Hz and FPS count, but that is to be expected from most monitors.
How did you solve the problem of weird tv static ? Please
Hi do you know if is possible to plug in my sound system to G8 via USB-C to 3.5mm and expect it to work (sound) properly?
Did you select "game mode" before input lag test? It greatly reduces input lag and apparently you haven't done it..
Yes I did. And I have photos to prove it.
But it did look good.
@@chrisbeasley4727 Clearly got a bad monitor. Return and replace thru Amazon/Best Buy until you get the perfect one. That's why you never buy these costly monitors off Ebay or third party shady vendors...
All Samsung products you should be careful of if you have to buy it get extended warranty.
I’ve bought TVs, Monitors and appliances. Fridge lasted 6 months replaced with LG. Dishwasher lasted 3 months replaced with Bosch. The only thing from Samsung I had no problems with is the gas stove/oven. Bestbuy literally loses money on me with my extended warranties.
I had a neo g9 49" monitor from samsung and within a year the panel went managed to get a refund, but probably won't be rolling the dice with samsung again based on your experience aswell.
What can I say. Samsung quality control still haven’t learned from the neo g9 and g7.
Samsung monitors will forever have terrible quality control.
Don't see why the hell one would choose LG or Samsung over the Alienware since they're all in the same price range.
becuase of stupid Coil whine on F model...had 6 all have it
Is there any monitor that you can recommend like 32" 4K glossy >120hz? Or any upcoming?
I’ll be on the lookout for some to review.
INNOCN 32" Mini LED 4K UHD 3840 x 2160 Computer Gaming Monitor 144Hz 1ms IPS HDR1000 HDMI 2.1 Monitor. It's on Amazon for $899 and in stock. There's also a glowing review on RUclips which loves this display... IF I hadn't already bought the G8 I would get the INNOCN.
OLED would be perfect. That TCL monitor was amazing from the other video, but not for sale unfortunately
If it wasn't for the atrocious QC Samsung has I'd buy it in heartbeat, but seeing the problems the G7 has, nah thanks.
Any chance to have review of KTC G42P5 - 42“ 4K OLED 138Hz, 0.1ms (GTG) Gaming Monitor in near future?
34" curved...hard stop not interested. I'll stick around for the rest of the video to help the channel out.
😭 missed so much good info on other displays though.
@@thedisplayguy na, im a subscriber, i stop by for all the videos. Sooner or later that magic 27" 144hz+ QD/mini/micro OLED HIGH GLOSS 4k monitor will be a thing
@@torcheddreadnought899 You people stuck on 16:9 in 2023 are crazy....
@@drunkhusband6257 ultrawide suffers from the same issue that any monitor above 27" does, you have to move your head to focus on a detail (specifically that sniper that just got your buddy). Its all about choosing the right tool for your use case.
@@torcheddreadnought899 If you need to move your head to see the edges of a 34" ultrawide, you need to have your vision checked...
Well that confirms me buying an LG. Samsung appear to have many technical issues and very poor customer support. Samsung dead for me
Not an e sport gamer myself but if I was the Asus lcd 1440p 360hz monitor has better motion than even the LG 240hz as shown by the HWU video.
can you test the INNOCN 32" Mini LED 4K UHD 3840 x 2160 its basically a pg32uqx at $899 listed on amazon
👀
🤔
Alienware monitor is HDMI 2.0, isn´t it?
do you recommend the alienware qd oled monitor??? or the asus
Asus
Same as the aw. +Smart tv features.
Kickass monitor. But not worth the extra $ over the aw unless you want smart features
Thing i like about the G8 vs Alienware oled is that the G8 has a 10cm (depth) smaller footprint
@@fueler5479 based on the stock stands? Or the monitor itself.
And for sure. They're all dope. Pick your poison you won't be disappointed. Love my aw
@@OscyJack- when using stock stands (AW=30.571cm depth vs G8=19.28cm depth)
@@fueler5479 got it.
Monitor arm would solve that ;). The g8 is sick. Not badmouthing it at all. And qdoled is the superior option as of now, for gaming, for sure.
Strange that you dont mention that this monitor is fanless, versus the alienware which has a loud fan
He is clearly an Alienware fanboy. You can tell because he doesn't even mention the Samsung TV/gamehub menu or any other positives. Just goes on a rant about Samsung QC issues and their past history. Which is meaningless if you get a perfect monitor out of the box (check the comments like others already have experienced). And if you do get unlucky just return/replace for a perfect one until you get the right one. That's what Amazon/Best Buy returns are meant for... 🙄
Thanks for putting in the power consumption analysis. I don't want my electric bill to spike.
Your only running a monitor mate, not a factory lol! Watch out mate, it mite go up a couple of p lol!
Extra 20-40W for a few hours a day (times 3 times 365). Perhaps 40 kWh annually. That is perhaps 4 EUR annually so 0,35 EUR per month. Give or take some percentage points?
