Have you rooted the phone, have a custom kernel installed, or have had issues with it in the past? If not, I would recommend taking it in to whatever your main shop for phone maintenance is (maybe the Geek Squad at BestBuy or something) and have it checked out. Another possible cause is a faulty battery, which can be fixed by simply going out and buying a replacement.

hahahahah if you think your iphone 5S is better than these 2 phones then you are missing out big time. I have used the iphone 3- 4- 4S and 5 and all these years it's the same thing nothing has changed. I switched to these 2 phones and it feel so alive and freedom.

The S4 looks great and has a replaceable battery and expandable memory, the plastic doesn't really affect me because I put it in the case. The One has Sense 5 though which looks really good and the general UI just looks incredible but I don't know which one. Definitely not getting an iPhone after seeing how good these phones are though! I never had issues with htc upgrading to new os. Even on my htc incredible last year. Most cutting edge phones usually get the latest os at drop. What holds htc back is the battery replacement. Processors are the same 1.9 htc is turned back to 1.7, as for the sd most manufacts are hoping to push cloud and dropbox storage instead of sd cards.
So guys I'm upgrading my phone tomorrow, and I'm having a lot of difficulty choosing which phone to purchase. I mean I love how the Galaxy s4 looks as well as the features of it although I've heard it's quite fragile and occasionally the amoled under the screen will break in your pocket without the glass even breaking. now I like the HTC one as it looks like a relatively solid phone, but I can't say I'm completely convinced on buying it. What would you guys advise me to do?:)
Many people say HTC wins because of boomsound. Which way do you put your phone in your pocket? Screen towards you right? I dont wear particularly tight trousers, but my phone clings close to my leg most of the time. That means, when the phone rings, the boomsound speaker placement will result in the ringer being muffled. To be honest, I also dont use my phone speakers for much else than the ringer and the alarm, (i use headphones for media) so boomsound isn't a pro of the HTC one for me.
I've had my S4 for more than 3 weeks now. I'm glad I don't need a tool to change the SIM card. I DO have to remove the battery before changing the SIM though.
I have a one x and the only thing that is having me up in the air about a ONE or S4 is the options for cases. I have no idea why otterbox and other popular cases dont give HTC more options. They have all been very limited on color choices on the HTC's I have owned. But yet seem to give many more choices for iphone and samsung

I think it comes down to whether you like samsung's interface or HTC's interface. I have the GS3 and am in love, but the HTC One intrigues me and is a gorgeous looking device with the metal backing.
All phones eventually get updates when they are flagships and just came out. HTC is working on an update, which is then sent to the carrier, then after their tweaks and fixes, is sent to you. It'll probably be a couple of months. If you flash a ROM such as stock android, then you will be able to get 4.4 quicker.
@189 snake, the only thing the camera lacks is the zoom, because of the few pixels it has. The sound on this phone demolishes any other phone, I currently own this phone.

You said the Samsung has a non-removable battery at 1:10. This is incorrect the battery is removable. Purchased the HTC One on launch day great phone.
