Hes actually really fun to play as, once you get the glacite that lets you spell advance chaining spells from a basic cast feels really good. Zesty and Berseria really got casters right with the spell advancing, even though theyre weak entries.
One of the reasons I couldn't really get into Berseria or even Zesteria as strongly as other Tales games was because the artes are so......lack luster D: Artes from other Tales games, especially SPELLS had so much more substance to them. That said, Laphicet is cute
There is a small selection compared to other Tales, but that's because Berseria and Zesteria focused on the A Artes style system of Graces. Combo oriented. It makes the battle feel more fast paced, and the fact that casters don't just have spells and have martial artes too dents spells but makes the character a better character to play.
@@manikaditha6308 The Tales series always has recycled artes and returning artes. Void Mire in Berseria was Negative Gate in Xillia. Violet Storm here was Arreviderci in Xillia. Indignation returned as a mystic arte.
@@manikaditha6308 i'm guessing lack luster in the visuals department, the effects look really simplistic and are over very quickly, it lacks impact compared to other 3d tales like vesperia or even abyss
For all the people complaining about the new Tales games magic being underwhelming compared to the older games...do you realize they had to balance it out? Imagine in Tales of Smyphonia it took Collette one second to cast Angel Feathers at the start of the game and she could spam it. Do you realize how OP that sounds?
The magic being underwhelming has less to do with cast times and damage numbers. It’s more about flare and dramaticism. Older entries in Tales of felt like a grand moment. Even Spread from Tales of Symphonia somehow feels more important than Insubstantiality, even though Insub is a more powerful spell. Why is that?
@@CeruleanAether Aye, I See what you mean. Though I think the devs made spells in Berseria/Zestiria not have as much flare as compared to other games because they wanted to make the games’ combat snappier/quicker, since in older games, especially Symphonia for instance, because spells were so bombastic, fights would take longer by comparison. In my opinion though, I don’t think the less dramatized spells take away from the games all that much, I still enjoy the combat regardless.
@@CeruleanAether It's because you will generally be trying to combo then into each other rapidly, so you don't want to make them so long as to not combo well, so massive that you're taking out huge swaths of the battlefield, or so flashy that a chain of them would give you seizures and melt your PS3/PS4. That said, part of the issue is probably due to the size of the models, how close the camera is, and Berseria probably bring a bit lower in budget than some of its predecessors so it's less flashy overall. Tales of Graces f had smaller models, a wonder angle dinners, and was a massively upgraded remaster/remake of a Wii game, so it was able to use a similar battle system to create much more flashy spell effects without straining the system so much.
@@nek022 to be fair she don’t learn tidal wave till later & her low defense & iffy physical Artes balance her out. Not to mention how some enemies resist water and even can heal from water-based artes.
Berseria sucks when it comes to regular artes, but the mystic artes collection is one of the best in the series. Xillia from the ones that I played is the best one when it comes to arts, they are all really useful and it feels good to use them. Rowen fells awesome when you use him to cast spells (his physical abilities are bad though) while Magilou is bad all around.
How to do mystic artes for Laphicet him alone. I tried holding the button for him in full bg it seems to happened nothing. I can do it easily for other characters though.
His kit is overall definitely underwhelming (well, both Zestiria and Berseria are awful when it comes to spellcasters), but his Indignation is really beautiful, certainly a top3 for the series
There's no such a healer role in here in ToZ or ToB tbh, Even if they have healing arte, they would be a seraphim/malak. But I think estelle from Tales of vesperia is a healer lol, i felt my party easily get wiped out when she got kidnapped.
I think he might be the weakest among the main characters. He's not bad per say, and he conveys very well the character's innocence and naiveté, but the voice actor is a little less credible when it comes to demonstrate resolve. Ultimately though, I think the main 'flaw' of Laphicet's english voice is to be surrounded by an incredible casting.
The story and the cutscenes write him as a simple healer but I find that hard to believe that when he has these artes.
2:31 - "THIS ENDS NOW! INDIGNATION!"
I like that they kept the incantation kinda close to Jade's ☺️

A quagmire is a soft boggy area of land that gives away underfoot.
