- After releasing the song “Through the Rain,” Tanya Blount got dropped from her label and signed with Bad Boy Records in 1996. To give you an idea of how things went for her on the label, her manager told the Washington Post, "We got caught up in Puffy's vortex." Here’s what happened to Tanya Blount.

Like why are MOST of his former artists financially deprived!
Went to high school with her. She also did hair. Lived down the street. Beautiful soul.
And both she and her brother, Willie, sing their asses off.
I used to back Tonya up on piano when she was young , she would come in my basement and we’d practice one of her favorite songs back then was if you ask me to , the original by Patti LaBelle. At that point her being so young she was the best singer I had ever heard lie when she opens her mouth her gift was so big, and we eventually hired her brother Willie as our lead vocalist for my group Maniquin after Kenny Lattimore left. We had the same manager, Vern Goff, and I played on her first record and Vern and Puffy were butting heads all the time about her record , when he was going to release it …and he finally without any promotion , just released it and didn’t even let anybody know, what a cruel thing to witness in real time

I knew Tonya Blount before the homeless stage... She is one of the most genuine people you'd ever want to meet. An awesome person... Her walk with God was real... she didn't fake it. Plus she had this uncanny gift of finding the best foods hidden in plain site. She's a foodie. You will eat good if you hang around her.

Diddy is like a black hole, he's destroyed so many career's it isn't funny. Everything he touches turns to sh*t. There literally isn't one story about someone signing with Bad Boy that ends on a good note. I'm one of those people that never believed in curses and blood sacrifices, but something is up with Puffy.
Curses and Sacrifices are real. That is why he did her that way because she did not want do the things they do in Hollywood. You have to do certain acts. To me you cannot blame him completely most of the executives were like that white or black .Most of those people didnt know there business bottomline..
This is an awesome story. I'm so glad Tanya stayed the course and battled through her dark periods, because light was right around the corner - and for her husband, too. Just goes to show (and I've been there) that despair isn't as permanent as it may seem. ❤
She has a beautiful voice.
I love Tanya’s voice. Her singing on Sister Act 2 was beautiful. I had no idea she was signed to the grim reapers record label. He’s a talent destroyer. He has really, really talented artists on his label only to ruin their careers. Not one artist from his label has had huge success and live to enjoy their success.

She is very special to support her husband at the beginning of the relationship despite his warnings.
I personally don't support trauma bond relationships but I'm glad this story ended well
I'm saying because she herself had her own issues 😢
Personally, I don't see his heads up to be a warning per say. Based on what I've heard here, seems like he didn't want to disappoint her. As the common theme that most of society has subscribed to resembles a male needing to have, in order for a woman to *grow/be open to love him👀. Meanwhile......
you see the RedFlags with her husband, but not when she had a child at age 19 from wedlock? Then, got the nerves to say she wants to be around black educational people in dc. smh!!!
@ninjaart3615 It is possible that after she became a mom at 19 she realized that being around educated people would help her develop the skills and discipline she needed to have the kind of future she wanted. Sometimes we grow from our mistakes or poor decisions because there is no perfect person on earth.

At this point I can't defend Diddy anymore. As much as people hate Jay Z non of his former artiste ever have bad things to say about him even Damon Dash said Jay Z is a good business man and his anger wasn't with him. Even Amil blamed herself and not Jay. Diddy doesn't know how to keep things business and just kept signing people he can't properly let go off or manage properly.
I doubt that they didn’t or don’t want to speak about him but that’s manipulation, in form of bullying.
They definitely speak on him respectfully Bc they are still in the business.
My sister is good, best friends with her. They were both in Sister Act 2 together. I always loved her voice.
That’s nice 🙂
Awww
