Is it truly multiplayer? That implies there is interaction among the players in a way more than just score boards. Nevertheless, this is so cool and it goes along with what I've been screaming for years. Make anything a game and people will do it. Even chores and exercise and folding amino acids!
Thanks so much for telling it how it is, thanks to all my friends from fold.it around the world whom put in the time and effort to make this project work !!! Kia Kaha from Aotearoa - aka Renton - Anthropic Dreams
I still don't see what advantages humans have over a computer in this game. A computer can manipulate an algorithm much faster than a human but I don't understand what I'm missing here.
Computers have raw computational power, but humans have intuition and creativity. Where humans have computers beat is in identifying unlikely and/or suboptimal protein structures that may look good on paper. I've read before that there are more possible structures/positions for a given protein than there are atoms in the universe, and even with the best computers running the best protein structure prediction algorithms, it takes forever to sift through all of the possible structures. Computers have raw computational power, but humans have intuition and creativity. Where humans have computers beat is in identifying unlikely and/or suboptimal protein structures that may look good on paper, and in exploring the potential of unconventional strategies that a computer would never "think" to try

Incredible!! I read a futurist article a good while back described this exact concept, so its great to see actually happening.
If anyone's wondering, the music:
Around the World - by Daft Punk
Clint Eastwood - by Gorillaz
I've just heard about this game on slashdot, some gamers solved a aids like retrovirus enzyme, so it actually is practical for moving science forward!
I play foldit and their publications list foldit players as co-authors. Does that mean I can add David Baker's papers to my CV?

Is Folding@Home not cutting it? I don't see how people would be more capable than the calculus of a computer.
i always thought about making a game like this..but it appears someone has already!!!
you can still go ahead, who knows yours will be better
is that Harderbetter faster stronger radio edit in 8 bit ?

Look at what is being said at around 2:15

These are quantum computing problems
This is very exciting :)
@bigbad1000do7a Then I'm not a gamer cause I always give up halfway through.
this is fuckin AWSOME
The website of the game won't load of me. Is this some sort of scam? :o
