The Cambrian Period, which was the earliest period in the Palaeozoic Era, is widely renowned for the utterly bizarre creatures that flourished during the time. One group that was especially prolific and diverse during the Cambrian were the Radiodonts. If you have any interest in prehistoric life, then you may have heard of undoubtedly the most well-known member of this group: Anomalocaris, widely hailed as the earliest known apex predator. Anomalocaris, however, seems to have hogged the spotlight, and the sheer diversity of the Radiodonts is resultantly quite under-appreciated. So, I think it’s fair to say they deserve some long-awaited attention, especially since a fascinating new species has recently been discovered. Meet Titanokorys gainesi!

I would sell my soul for a cambrian fish tank, could you imagine how cool it would be.
I've thought the same, ever since primary school. I remember when all the other kids in my grade were going through their "dinosaur phase" and I just couldn't shut up about the Cambrian.
Also many Cambrian animals would be the perfect size for a fish tank of ordinary dimensions.
@@BugsandBiology same, people would talk about t-rex and I’d just be over there after watching walking with monsters 20 times saying “anomolocaris was earths first super predator!!!!!!!!!” It was always my favorite time period.
Such a pity the Cambrian animals are so overlooked. Not saying the popular stuff like T. rex, Velociraptor and O. megalodon aren't interesting, but there's so much more out there beyond the handful of well-known species. And dinosaurs never quite interested me as much as the Palaeozoic fauna.
@@BugsandBiologySame, although this also applied to marine life for me. An epic voyage across the prehistoric oceans appealed to me quite a lot.
would love to travel back in time to watch these critters in action!❤
My left ear enjoyed the sound of this video.
I've been enamoured with the Burgess Shale since I was ten (50 years ago!), so thanks for this informative video. And yes, the bumper-car sounds were annoying in "Walking with Monsters".
"With something like that, I would have white wine..."
That would certainly look odd on a seafood platter haha
Absolutely fascinating! Thanks for another quality video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow that’s some amazing creature period in Earths history!
Yes,yesssssssss,woehoo he's back....😎
Youre channel is criminally underated..
I've been getting comments about how my channel is underrated for a while...Really hope I can get some proper growth on my channel soon, cause it's pretty dead right now for some reason.
0:22 I remember that doc.
Quality as always!! I personally love variety. Also support comment🙋🏼♂️
Awesome! Yeah, I like variety, but it's a fine line to tread. You gotta have enough variety to keep your channel from becoming overly monotonous and repetitive, but not so much that it loses any sense of focus.
@@BugsandBiology Yes. Sadly YT in 2021 is not a place where quality equates into exposure. If it did, you would definitely be in the top 10 of invertabrate content creators imo. Keep going though, sometimes persaverence paying off can be a matter of days. I hope this becomes a viable second income for you at some point my friend. (So i have more videos to watch😂)Best wishes man.
Cool you found the pokemon Anorith and Armaldo
it's incomprehensible that we only understand in small terms 0.1%-0.3% of the animals alive and swimming around at this time
by which i mean it is incomprehensible how much we could discover despite so much being lost
Fried or boiled served with a sauvignon. Thank you for this wonderful presentation
How to say you don't like the Star Wars sequels without saying you don't like the Star Wars sequels.
I want to see a video about the different forms ni between maritime crustaceans and early insects - the evolution from maritime animals towards the very first land animals.
Yoou sir are a hidden treasure I'm glad I've found.
anyone else notice that this only plays on the left with stereo headphones?
Old videos of mine, like this, pretty much all had that problem.
You should do a video of all your inverts it will blow up !
Correction: the Ediacaran Era was the earliest era in the Paleozoic.
The Ediacaran period was before the Paleozoic.
Thank you for correcting me. I fell into the trap of learning these things on a site fujll of errors. @@BugsandBiology
Thank you for the coreection. My information source was not accurate.@@BugsandBiology
Were Anomalocaris' swimming lobes completely soft or covered with thin armor?
Not entirely sure, I'll have to check.
@@BugsandBiology Thanks :) Walking with Monsters said their whole body was armored, but most other sources say only their mouth & arms were hard, so I'm not sure which is correct.
I'd be more inclined to agree with the latter, since the rest of the body is seldom preserved when compared to the mouth and frontal appendages.
great video only 1 complaint, not to be rude because it really was a good video but having the mic only on 1 side gets a bit annoying. but a part from that looking forward to your next upload C=
It's a recurring issue that seems to be rather random; some people experience it on certain videos, others don't. I've been aware of it for ages, but have never managed to understand/fix it. Glad you enjoyed otherwise anyway!

It’s an issue you’ll unfortunately hear in a lot of my older videos
