    I was there that day. Got an awesome picture of the car as it hit the wall right in front of where I was sitting. Glad he was ok

    When he hit the wall the first time it hit so hard. It broke the motor mount pulling the linkage wide open. And the car took off to hit the other wall at full steam.

    I never want to see somebody crash a car, but if somebody does have a crash, may as well show good footage of it.. I mean, it cost the owner driver whomever, a ton of money to make the Highlight Reel, so might as well showcase it and have multiple angles and so on and so forth.
    Also, those grandstand shots when you can really see how fast are going as well as shots when you can really see how much they're actually having to drive the car, that's some of the best footage! Especially the audio from down track, there's nothing like seeing a blown alcohol or blown nitro car (or bike) leaving he starting line (aging, from down-track) and THEN you hear the sound of engine and blower with tons of Doppler shift 😊
    Hopefully, doesn't have any lasting injuries from that. I'm sure he has a bit of a concussion or sore neck or back, that was a brutal wreck!
    This comment is already way too long but one last thought I have... which is something that always gave me a little bit of anxiety (and respect) working on race cars, and it should make anybody feel that way and want to respect and pay attention to what they're doing... which is one tire losing traction and the other staying hooked up (for whatever reason) and sending the car one way or the other, potentially causing a bad wreck...
    Anyway, great footage and I'm really loving what Camping World menhera are doing together. Perspective, things are really getting better and better at a rapid pace it seems. 😊🤘🏻

    • @Pyle81
      @Pyle81 3 года назад

      And where are they going??? I'll tell you, Back to Street Racing style of No Prep. The average working man can't compete in IHRA or NHRA any more. Even the bracket racing has gotten to expensive and had to many rules. The No Prep racing is where its at today. There getting it off the streets, And back on the track with out a prepped surface and all that crap. The IHRA and NHRA are going threw the same thing that Nascar is. There politics and stupid rule changes and there assign points crap have destroyed that sport.

      @damianfettler3875 3 года назад

      Yeah they fast but the funny cars and silly cars they have no chance and don’t get me started with the regular and jet dragster

  • @jeffe1779
    @jeffe1779 3 года назад

    Sounds crazy but why don’t the have safer barriers

    • @dmeemd7787
      @dmeemd7787 3 года назад

      The fact that there are still tracked that have massive gaps in the wall, or transition to guardrail (or hell, the entire thing is guardrail) is something I strongly dislike, some of the worst accidents are from people going over the wall or gaps in them or old-school guardrail.
      If they had safer barriers though, a glancing blow in a dragster let's say, would turn into instantaneously stopping we could potentially cause tubing to go right into the driver's compartment or foot box or something like that oh, also, the downtime makes it completely infeasible. They would have to develop something special for drag racing chassis of all types, allow for the different ways the drivers are seated, all that stuff.
      So I think it's a pretty significant engineering challenge, one thing that does help is a good amount of forward velocity, if you do the math you can look at the deceleration and velocities in just the X & Y directions, or the X, Y & Z directions.
      But yeah, it's that definitely is not some crazy at all. Really good question and I'm sure there's more to it than that but that's a good baseline and starting point for an answer I believe :-)

    Its Pro Mod, Forgive me if I don't shed a tear. Thankfully the driver wasn't hurt. Im definitely not a fan of this 4 wide crap. Tell me this??? How much further can we get away from true drag racing roots?? Because other than No Prep, and flash lite start street racing on a No Prep surface. Its all just a corporate funded show. The average working man that wants to race can't compete at this level. The haulers alone are more expensive than the average races home today ($200-K for a new road tractor, and another $200-K to $300-K plus for the trailer) And we haven't even got to the car yet. IHRA and NHRA will suffer the same fate as NASCAR has. The fans have said enough and are walking away.

      I didn’t shed a tear but I’m also smart enough to know that money makes things happen…. No prep isn’t the definition of drag racing lol and if you do want to go see some “affordable” racing go to the track you like on a weekend that isn’t an NHRA event since the NHRA isn’t there everyday…. My local track has an event every weekend and it’s not NHRA every weekend… keep on complaining because it sounds like you’re shedding a tear over not having a decent car to take to the local drags lmao

    • @Pyle81
      @Pyle81 3 года назад

      IHRA and NHRA are both trying to figure out where the fans went. Same with NASCAR. And there to self absorbed with there multi million dollar sponsorship to even care about the fans anymore. 4 wide drag racing, Really??? How much further away from the true roots of drag racing can we get??? Yet the stands are full for No Prep, And even the small little mom and pop tracks (The one's that are left) Are seeing huge crowds when they run a No Prep street racing style event. Go watch SRC (Street Racing Channel) they have a HUGE following. And its just a 24 yr old kid and his family. With a S-10 twin turbo small block chevy using a blow threw carburetor system on a stock frame and suspension. And there racing guys with LS 5.3 and 6.0 Fox body Mustangs and cars that a working man can run and win with. Not this pro mod crap.....
