There is an easier way. Pull the carpet back from the top on the passenger foot well. Just pull it from the top. There is a foam board and a metal plate that is held with 10mm plastic nuts. One at the top one lower left and one on the right. Remove the metal panel and there one more piece of foam. The main block from the battery is right there. Use a booster pack and attach were the top nut was. Then use a jumper wire to the thick main gauge wire and press the remote button for the truck. Takes about 5 minutes for the whole process.

my key is locked inside the trunk an the battery is dead what do i connect the cables to to give the battery a charge to unlock the trunk an how long do i have to wait for the charge will the trunk open when i do it
So if you look close? The trunk has a release latch right above the tag. Directly in the middle, you have to turn the key clockwise, and pull the latch. Its hard to see cuz it blends in...gl folks

I was manage to turn the metal key into the look on driver side but its not opening. On the trunk i cant even turn the key.I have done it before and it was working but this time hard look.
The metal key does work in the tumbler. Your car it may not work but in most all Mercedes, it is designed to use that key in just the case you have. Chances are the ignition was changed in your vehicle not allowing the new key to work.
@@ClassickWORLD just saw this...the rear has a first aid kit box...i removed everthing and there is a hole...i used sheet metal cutter and opened hole enough to fit arm in...i was able to pop rear seats down pulling handle...then i squeezed in and connected battery.
Got a Mercedes clk320 convertible. Able to turn the key fully both ways but it doesn’t open and the battery is completely dead. I have no idea how to get this thing to start. Called 2 mechanics for Mercedes and they both said different things. One said to jump start it under the hood, and the other said it can’t be jump started at all from under the hood. I just need to get into the trunk somehow to replace the battery. Any tips anyone?
If you turn the key clockwise 1/4 turn, it holds... now, with your other hand, pop the trunk. Don't go counterclockwise though it turns farther in that direction. This does not release the spring.
Amardeep Kaleka after trying the video option and accessing the back of the alternator I found that your simple solution worked for me. Thanks. The key was not opening the trunk as I thought it would previously.
Thanks bro worked for me to and I did try first but couldn't open it until I saw the vid and then read your post I to remembered damn yea clockwise NOT counterclockwise + excactly that turn key and use other hand to work the release handle and voila open:) Do u know will this work to with the battery totally removed from the car?
I am not clear on the part that you are connecting the positive of the battery charger to the ground of the motor? Isn't this shorting the battery charger?
sorry for getting back so late, no the positive of the charger is going to the battery lug of the alternator. this method is effectively using the alternator lug as a jump point *** though I would not use it to literally jump start a car ***. It's good enough to juice the car with power to open the trunk, etc.
yes but if u learn how to use the key correctly you should be able to open trunk if it was not locked WITH THE KEY for example if u have valubles in glove box OR trunk..if u remove metal portion of key and insert it in the trunk tumbler turn it 90 degrees to the right and remove it . The remote part of the key will NOT open trunk without the metal part put back in the trunk lock turn CCW till its straight up and down then the remote will work but NOT the handle.so in valet mode u simple slide metal part out and give the kid only the black remote and take the metal part with u. ok pay attention here because here in the clincher.....straight up and down is the normal position of the trunk (unlocked) in this position the battery in the car does all the opening either from the remote or the button on the drivers door...To make the handle in the trunk lid work by putting key in trunk and turn it to the left while trying to open trunk by pulling the handle if you go the right direction (CCW) the key will stop only half way towards 90 degrees and the handle will suddenly feel like its catching the latch inside ..sometimees it takes alittle playing with.. THIS WILL WORK WITH DEAD OR NO BATTERY..provided the latch itself is not physically broken inside and that would have not been a sudden type of thing.. ok W220 and w221 where the latch is broken i can show where to drill a hole the size of coat hanger to release trunk latch no matter whatit works on most MB with no rear key tumbler and the hole is only 1/8 in behind license plate

Gotta show/explain this better and slower dude. We can't see exactly where on the alternator it's connected to and where exactly the positive clamp is connected..
You should be able to get into the car with the metal key. once inside, and start the car. Once car is started, the 'open trunk' button in door should open the trunk. If the starter battery is dead, open hood, charge the battery for a couple of hours (overnight is better). Once you get the car started, the 'open the trunk' button will open the trunk so that you can then charge the battery in the trunk. Once the car is running, the charger sends enough electricity to the aux battery to enable trunk to open. This is practically what putting charger cable on alternator does. I have never seen a case where the silver key doesn't open the door, because the silver key opens the door lock mechanically, no electricity required.
