I’ve only run cover 4 as a scout D. It’s just too passive for my taste. Agree with you 100%, it diminishes your athletes when they got to think so much.
Yup we hated cover 4 until we had the lead in the game or 3rd and 4th and long when we could say yea get your little check down 😅 because those take the cheese under routes and to the flats are so tempting to jump but if you do that quarters 4 becomes wide open 3 usually down one of those seams 😅
If you are referring to the Super Bowl win over the Chiefs then you are misinformed. The Bucs ran Cover 2 a majority of the time. I have a nice tutorial on Cover 2 on this page. Most fans don't know the coverages. It would help if you learned them.
@@GridironStudsBruh that wasn’t Cover 2 - they were running Cover 4 - if they ran Cover 2 against a vertical offense that had Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce on it they would have gotten cooked lmao
In real life you're dealing with real players, so it would depend on the personnel. If that Z is some speedy Rashid Shaheed type best believe the safety on that side knows not to leave his corner on an island.
I appreciate this perspective. Quick question. Are you seeing the majority of explosive plays from cover 4 across the whole defensive formation or does this also include split field coverage like Cover 7? I love the content!
...if the corner on x is playing inside coverage why the hell would the free safety run over there and double team knowing he playing over the top and also in deep quarters dropping back while reading the qb because he would be free because he has know threat in his area..which means if the qb throw that post its getting picked off or the receiever getting blasted...dude got him way over there and the ball aint even thrown yet...on top of that its a long developing route and probably would be a 3 to 5 step drop while the qb already in shot gun....when a cover 4 is played right aint know way you just lining up beating that with a post route..can it be beaten of course it can..but at the dame time it gotta be timed perfectly or a blown coverage...and to make matters worse he talking about the strong safety jumping the dig at 10 yards..thats 2 short when the linebackers already at 5 to 7 yards and dropping back...the tightend wont even be able to get behind the linebackers at 10yards so why would that strong safety just jump the dig at 10..and if its a deep drop back the tightent would be running into the middle line backer or the weakside back because like he said the weakside backer has know threat since the slot receiver running across at the snap of the ball...if anything the qb got 2 options...hit the back in the flats and hope to get 5 or more yards or hit the slot underneath for a few yards to catch and run...dude tripping
Stevie, you said a lot here but I'll grab a few points. Cover 4 is beaten regular, just watch some football. 2nd, linebackers are aligned at 5 and don't really drop back. They move out to re-route 2 and then proceed to get under #1. 3rd, some teams play their corners inside vs certain split in Cover 4. Wisconsin was famous for doing so under Jim Leonhard. I don't necessarily agree but it happens.

Agreed. That's exactly what it does.
Thanks, man. Amazing explanation!
Much love from Germany
Thank you. Glad it helped
The pause😂🤣
This my favorite play on madden its called drive whats every time
Some DBs love cover 4
Yea, safeties. LOL
@@GridironStuds LOL no comment
I love Cover 4 🤷🏾♂️
Cover 4 read - zone underneath with backers
“He better be world class” 🤣
I would run anything in between cover 0 - cover 2
Man match quarters is the best defense to run if you run Quarters. And I like cover 4 as a db.

Ask Tampa bay D do they hate cover 4

My only question is aren’t safeties taught to look up 2 too 1 and be the deepest man. Soon as Y would’ve ran the in the safety should’ve look at Z
After 10-12 yards, that safety is pattern matching on Y which means he’s driving on that dig

I think 3 Match with ORK leverage would work better because you have a post player

Madden drive play best play

💯🔥
It’s a super late read for the Safety and especially the corner
Amen
